Part I
Ben. In the desert? Is this where they found the DHARMA polar bear?
Sahara. Well, the Sahara's pretty big, show. Where exactly?
And how the hell did he get there?
Yep, Ben speaks...Arabic? He really can do everything.
So this is after Ben all about lies and deception.
What happened to the other horse?
Code 14J is a pizza delivery boy. Hee.
Ah, Alex tripped the panic button at the fence.
So they really want him alive.
Oh, his throat was slit, he wasn't hung.
When is kind of a relative term.
Boat people acting shifty again.
Aw, Hurley with the baby! So cute!
Redshirts keeling over, left and right.
Sawyer ran *toward* the building that was about to explode?

Part II
Tozeur, Tunisia. So near where the polar bear was found, I guess. But what exactly is Ben doing here?
Dean Moriarty. Hee!
October 24th 2005.
Is Ben also unstuck in time? That would explain why he seems to know exactly what's going to happen.
Oh, yeah 2005. So this is a flash forward.
Sayid on the TV. Ben sees some one he can use?
Shock and Awe.
They need to talk to Jacob. And Hurley's the only one who can find him. Except Ben had no trouble finding him that one time he took Locke to see him.
So Claire's not dead. Yet.
Go Hurley, growing a backbone!

Part III
Nadia?
Tikrit, Iraq.
That's a big...camera lens you've got there, Ben.
There's Sayid.
So why did Sayid go back to Iraq? Because Nadia was there? But I thought She was living in LA a little while ago?
Some one murdered Nadia?
Well, if she's in Iraq in 2005, sadly that's not so unlikely.
So Ben was still on the island when the Oceanic Six got off.
Desmond had a boat, which Ben took to Figi. But wasn't it completely blown up and thus Ben is lying? But if that's the case, then how did Ben get off the island? Maybe he's got a magic rabbit hole.
Nadia was killed by Widmore?
Ishmael Bachia.
La Brea and Santa Monica.
Oh, so Nadia was still in LA and was killed there.
So this funeral Sayid's attending is for some one else?
And why is he in Iraq when what he wanted most of all was Nadia and she's in LA?
Ben playing on Sayid's emotions.
So the goons are "Security" to "escort" Ben back to the mainland.
Martin Keemie?
Oh, that guy.
Uganda?
Ben denies Alex. Will he do it three times?
Ben admits that he stole Alex.
Says she means nothing to him.
Holy Crap! Alex is dead, just like that?
Another piece of Ben's soul dies.

Part IV
We changed the rules. Hmm.
Ben goes down the rabbit hole.
Stone door. So something from ancient times.
So no message for Mr. Widmore, then. Unless that was just a set up to see if Sayid will play.
OK, that was a set up between Sayid and Ben.
Once you let grief turn into anger it will never go away. I speak from experience.
Sayid spent 8 years searching for Nadia. So that puts a date on some of the flashbacks, then.
So Sayid is the one who proposes the business arrangement with Ben. Unless Ben expected that he would do exactly what he did.
Who's next? Faustian Bargain.
Excuse me, James. Love the delivery.
Ben set up a bomb?
The smoke monster?!
So Ben can control it? Or summon it? How?
That definitely sounds like the thing that shook the trees the first night on the island.
So that is what Ben looks like when he's emotionally vulnerable.

Coda
I hope one of the Losties knows morse code, because I don't trust that Daniel is transmitting the message he says he is.
Yay, Bernard knows morse code. Daniel's busted!
Jack unleashes some whoopass.
Ben lied before about the smoke monster. I forgot about that.
Sawyer's had about enough of this shit.
Wait, is there anyone else left from Locke's camp or did the snipers get them? Maybe the writers decided to deal with the problem of random extras having no purpose by just getting rid of everyone that's not a regular or semi-regular.
Yes, Sawyer, Locke has lost his mind.
Sawyer defends Hurley. Bet neither of them would have guessed that would happen when they first crashed.
London, England. Boy, Ben sure does get around.
I love how Ben puts on a different persona in each place he's in.
The Kendricks.
Penthouse.
Ah, Widmore's penthouse. Hoo-boy.
Nightmares.
Love Ben's face being half in shadow.
Ben can't kill Widmore. Why? Can't as in physically unable to or can't because it would be advantageous?
If these guys weren't so darn creepy, I'd think that this scene has definite slashy undertones.
Widmore calls Ben out for playing the victim. Boo-yah! About time some one did.
Ben took everything from Widmore. What exactly does that mean?
Ben is going to kill Penny as an act of vengeance. Ooh!
Widmore changed the rules. So these guys have a long history. Curiouser and Curiouser.
Ben won't be able to find Penny. So Widmore's hidden her some where? Also explains why Widmore doesn't want Penny looking for Desmond (and possibly why he didn't want them together in the first place) (assuming that Widmore knows that Desmond was going to be on the island/is on the island)?
Intriguing! Like a complicated logic puzzle!

Where were we? Oh yes. "So much for Karl." And Kate is getting rid of her tanlines. And trying to lure Jack away from Juliet. "Antibiotics"? I wonder. Maybe he's self-medicating before everyone leaves. Vincent barking at the corpse of.. oh, Doctor Pain. RISK!!!!! Stupid move, attacking Siberia. So who has custody of Alex and the ear-bleeder fence? I'd say it sounds like Sayid's former handler, but he died on the rocks. "Code 14-J" must mean "Tell my sister I love her"Reason ten zillion and six not to trust Ben. He keeps his house stocked with weapons the same way I do. You can't have located them all. Oh, *that's* what she was doing.Good one!Note to self: approach Matthew's house with caution.

To have Alex survive, seeing her lover and her mother killed and then to die like that? Oh yeah. Which, I suspect, is what the writers were counting on all of us thinking: after everything she'd been through, no way would Alex get shot by this guy—that's just not the way dramas work. So just as Ben was expecting the rules he and Widmore established to keep Alex safe, we were expecting the rules of drama writing to do the same. Ooh, excellent point! Also, the changing of the rules of flashback episodes to flash forward.

Fanatastic episode. And I just realized another Goddard/Vaughn team write. I'm disappointed that Miles isnt going on the Jacob hunt. Is Jacob a ghost or not? I'm still waiting for some payoff for his ghost whispering skills on the island. Not enough just to talk to Naomi and then viewers can forget about him? However, I saw a poster catch that he questioned what Claire said about her going to be alright. hmmmmm? ?? leftylady
