Really enjoyed all the forshadowing you point out in your analysis, Spring. There are so many Buffy/Angel moments in this episode and others before Innocence, moments like Buffy kissing Angel in vamp face or Buffy sleeping in Angel's apartment because she feels safe there, that seem so sweet unless you know the rest of the story. There's also Cordelia's line to English!Buffy from Halloween, "Angel's a good vampire; he would never hurt you." Ouch.
We also see in the episode, that not only is Buffy doing her best to ignore the clues, but Angel has done his darndest to suppress any dark part of himself while he's around Buffy. However, the audience sees hints of what he's capable of, even with a soul, when he beats Willie for information. Naturally, all his efforts to protect Buffy from that side of himself blow up in his face.

It isn't just about Buffy's blindness, it's about Angel's "ticking time bomb" mega-suppression of his darkness. The presentation is really brilliantly done - you have this oh-so-sweet love story on the surface, but just underneath, you're getting these extremely ominous messages about things not being quite as they seem.
