Discussion of the latest incarnation of the television show, V, can be read here. NO SPOILERS ARE ALLOWED! Posting spoilers will not help you find peace or tranquility; instead, it will get an epic can of whup-ass opened upon you. Don't mess with us on this--there are at least a couple of people on staff here that I think may have some evil reptilian layers underneath their skin. And in this assumption I do not exclude myself.
*ponders grabbing scalpel to peel back a layer just to know for sure*
*tries not to obsess over whether or not I'm a sleeper alien*
*fails at not obsessing about it*
*hides all sharp implements from self*

The pilot was awesome and full of win. That teen boy is soooo gone on the Visitor "Lisa".

Personally, if those humongulous alien spaceships appeared over 29 cities and a very well made-up beauty said Don't be frightened, we're peaceful, we just want a few minerals and other resources and in turn we'll hang around a bit and cure some diseases, I'd buy a gun, pack up, and turn survivalist.
Um, does anyone stop to wonder just how many natural resources the V's would like? If they're so peaceful, why did they need 29 humongulous spaceships?
On the RL side, nice to see Morena Baccarin, who played Adria on Stargate: SG1, get a juicy leading role. I thought Adria was nasty, but Anna looks like she'd eat Adria for breakfast, after making remarks about her flashy outfits.
I'm old enough to remember the original V; and Juliet Mitchell is far more convincing as the female human lead...But I still wish her back in Sawyer's arms on Lost.

I still associate Morena Baccarin with Firefly but she most recently sported the new 'do on Medium, iirc. Anna would totally eat Adria for breakfast. She looked *hungry*in that closing sequence.

Hehe..Me too! But then again we watch Buffy and we are a skeptical lot. Most people only see what they want to see - and they see the world as needing to be saved - and how cool would it be for someone on high to come down and take away all the worry and pain from our lives?
Good opening ep! I kept trying to remember the original show and catch which bits were from that and which were new. And of all the little moments to remember, the kid on the motorcycle was one - I distinctly remember that in the one from way back when. Which might mean that this guy ends up sleeping with an alien and creating a hybrid baby - with the blonde V who convinced him to join up, I'm thinking. Seeing Wash and Inara together again was cool - and they ended up being on the same side! I had been wondering if maybe he was the leak, but then to have him be a reptile! Whoa! I can't remember if in the original they had this thing with the V's being on earth before they arrived in the ships or not. I know they were at least "observing" us. Interesting twist to have them supposedly paving the way for their arrival/invasion by causing events over the past decade or so - wars, economy, etc. Nice twist with the whole "it's a terrorist cell, oh it's really a group fighting the V, oh wait, the first cell was the V's and now this one is fighting them" and then, just when we're safe with that twist they throw in a guy who is really a V and who infiltrated the group but to help humans. "First and foremost, the fact that you're tagging now? Soooo proud!"

I, for one, am glad I don't remember specific details of the original series and am enjoying this updated take on 'how would humans react to a powerful alien force that looks benevolent and promises to save them from themselves?'
I don't see an analogy to anything but the simple fact that deep down we all would like to be taken care of like children and not have to worry about sickness and war or any grownups stuff like that.

Aaand he's back!!! Alan Tudyk's character's eyes popping open scared the crap out of me. I think V's going to be nice and creepy this go round. Morena Baccarin is extremely creepy as Anna. I do just want to slap some sense into that stupid idiot teenager. Just how dumb does he think his mom is? She's not as involved as she should be but she's not a complete dolt.

According to imdb.com the original "Anna" was indeed named Diana.
Anna could easily kick Diana's butt. I like the direction they've taken. Better writing, acting... Ahh!

Morena is kicking ass as Anna. (She would make a great Wonder Woman! - is that project totally dead?)
So we have a flotilla of V's poised to take over the Earth. Do you think they are all skins or lizards?
I find the whole 5th column angle fascinating. Some people/aliens sympathize with other people/aliens when they adopt their skins/customs and get to know the other 'species'.
Only some do, tho. What makes some sympathise and some totally fight against that? Is it nurture or nature? Or some kind of grand design that is built into a species and serves as species survival protection?
