Sooooo....
Was that:
The Doctor's Mother
Susan
Romana
Leela
Ace
?
Those are the theories I've heard or come up with.
Thoughts?
I think RTD needs a clue on what threads to tie up in a story.
I'm not convinced he decided.
If it's the Doctor's mother then either the TV movie is wrong or there's a way to make a human into a Time Lord. Since she'd have to be nearly a thousand by now. Or just make her immortal. Ditto for Leela or Ace, it has been hundreds of Doctor-and-Gallifrey years. Er, except the Doctor can't keep his own age straight, so who knows?
Romana has her own universe to look after, so the audio canon that she came back and ruled Gallifrey never quite made sense to me. But if she did, how did Rassilon get to be in charge?
Audio also just gave us a new adventure where the 8th Doctor goes back to see Susan But she's the only Gallifreyan on your list in the right universe so in her personal future she could end up back there.
If it is Susan she doesn't half get some tough deals.
It will be whoever the next writer decides is a good idea.
Yeah, on the "penelope his human mother" thing from 8's movie. Saw a cute cosplay skit with all eleven doctors on it that made a joke that 8 had lied about being half-human.
I think all time lords have a little bit in the way of blarney about them, and made up the looms, etc, to tell outsiders. Ask a timelord something specific about his home life and maybe you get half a dozen answers, the honesty of which depending on how much he or she respects you.
Lemme see. Romana: NostalgiaLJ first pointed out the "she has her own universe" stuff to me, for I've never seen those episodes and wondered what had happened to her. The woman in white said something about being lost and being helped by the Doctor, though.
As I recall, Ace was being groomed to be a Time Lady, wasn't she? And the new canon of the Chameleon Arch seems to suggest that they can, if they choose, and are properly equipped, turn a normal human into a two-hearted Time Lord with a full rack of regenerations. I mean, the Master got a new set when he was ejected from Gallifrey as a baby before the end of the time war.
I suggested Leela to a couple of my friends, and one giggled derisively, and the other said "She'd be more likely to leave an explosive device full of Janus thorns in his breakfast dish" and fair point to him, he's right about her.
Susan, god knows what happened to her, but twelve regenerations to go, and all of time her plaything if she can build herself something like Jack had: she's got the intuitive knowledge of time and space that humans don't.
Ace? Heh. I like this idea myself, though I can't see her sticking around as Gallifrey became more and more militant. She likes her asplosions, yes, but in much more anarchistic way.
Oddly enough, a friend of mine asked me if it might be The Rani, as she's of a mindset to go along with a militant Gallifrey, at first, and perhaps be changed by a regeneration. Which could also pave the way for her coming back next season, regenerated into Gillian Anderson, though I'm not sure that news report wasn't just fanboy hysteria.
I do look forward to seeing if The Grand Moff can untangle some of this!
