Ah..."Into the Woods".
As opposed to 'out of the woods' - like Buffy mentioned that Joyce was since her operation.
I really feel for Riley. He was so spun by Dracula biting Buffy, and also by finding out about Angel. Maybe it wasn't rational. But you can't help what you feel.
Buffy really does hold a part of herself separate from everyone else. I guess she can't help being Buffy. Like she said - it is who she is.
And the part where Riley confronts Spike and Spike admits that he's hot for Buffy - and says "The girl needs some monster in her man ... and that's not in your nature... ...no matter how low you try to go."
Is that really what Buffy needs, or was that Spike trying to spin Riley around just a bit more?
And then some foreshadowing here:
SPIKE: (quietly) Sometimes I envy you so much it chokes me. And sometimes I think I got the better deal. (sighs) To be that close to her and not have her. To be all alone even when you're holding her. Feeling her, feeling her beneath you. Surrounding you. The scent ... (louder) No, you got the better deal.
