Welcome to Part 1094 of the Soulful Spike Society Main Thread!!! Like 20th Century Earth, this must be a great place since the S'cubies keep coming back here. Well, it is a great place. It's full of slightly dirty intellectual musings about cool episodes of your favorite shows. It's got Ten Forward where all of today's hottest topics can be discussed, without interference so long as everyone treats each other like it's a first contact situation. In other words, be nice and respectful of each other's opinions and keep phasers on stun and out of sight. ;D 20th Century Earth had lots of rules. There are rules here too and you should read them if you've never been here before or if you want to brush up on your facts before getting lost in the Jeffries Tubes. Here in the 21st Century we still have television and since we are pretty much obsessed with love, love, love it we like to go to the holodeck to talk about the shows we are currently watching. You can be nice and respectful to one another but don't ever post spoilers anywhere but Spoiled Souls or under the ghost button or you'll find yourself being shot around the sun into the middle ages where the only entertainment is dodging chamber pots being emptied onto the street from over your heads. ;D Now that your course is wisely set on visiting S'cubiedom (much cooler than 20th Century Earth in so many ways), let's get moving! Warp 10 Mr. Sulu. ;D Star Trek Inspirational Posters

INORITE?! So, you're saying this is something I should be watching? Totally! Diane reminded me that there was also some pretty good full monty going on. Nummy treats. It's on Starz and is available On Demand free with a Starz subscription. No idea what they charge otherwise. Well worth the watching for the pretty boys alone.

This made me smile because just yesterday I was thinking that in the fall I'd have been wearing a coat when it was 35° outside, yet there I was blithely walking around outside with a hooded sweatshirt I hadn't even zipped up all the way. Funny how that can work, huh? So true, so true!! ;D 40 degrees in the Fall? Brrr! 40 degrees in April? Break out the shorts! It's definitely a phenomenon unique to the northern climes. I walk around most winters with a fleece on and no coat but with the first 30 degree temps in the fall I'm bundled up like Nanook. ;D

Yeah, that Scottish accent is a bit . . . distracting. There's nothing wrong with his acting. His character is exactly appropriate for the time, place and situation. And the native accent is (or would be) wonderful in other situations (I've seen him in a BBC mystery where he plays an extremely damaged cop and he was amazing!) But to be playing Batiatus, I would think he'd trying another since the correct use of language in Rome was nearly as important as it is in England. Which might also explain why actors portraying Romans not only nearly always use British accents--but use British accents approximately equivalent to the class of Roman they are playing! In contrast, Lucy Lawless never uses her native New Zealand accent for anything she does, and she carries off anything from Xena to the murderer she played on L&O. But with John Hannah you keep expecting to hear William Shatner's voice over, "Beam me up..." I agree about the acting. The accent is distracting precisely because it's not English, whereas everyone else's is and varies according to class, as you say. It would suggest that Bastiatus isn't Roman, but since we know that's not correct he really could have modified his accent, IMO to play the descendant of Roman gladiator families gone by.

Did OK at Children Services meeting last night. Felt anxious before, but kept my cool during. May sign up for the classes in March - it can't hurt anything. My house is definitely not ready but it could be made ready. And me, I'm moving toward ready also - and can't wait for 100% ready now, can I? Would have never even had Vince, that way. There are a lot of different options and I wrote on the survey that I was open to just about any of them - would want more info and guidance on the best match of need and my abilities. The hard part, the anxiety and painful feelings involved, is really all around the fact that the whole enterprise is a step toward accepting my son's death and the permanence of his absence in this world - in my world, for the rest of my life. Very very not fun, but baby steps. Baby steps and S'cubie time, and counselor and family and friends and still doing things for Vince. I can't imagine how difficult but we're with you, all the way.

Are you all set, or would you like me to take care of it? I'm home enjoying a snow day, so I've actually got time for a change. Oops! I'd have replied had I seen this. I thank you for the offer, belatedly. Enjoy your snow day. I'm home until I can be sure of lasting the day outside the house.

Bravo on the part opener Onjel. *hugs* Spring - for your next adventure. Woke up to snow again. We were going to try and drive south this weekend and see if we could find some warmer weather and green fairways....but...

We were going to try and drive south this weekend and see if we could find some warmer weather and green fairways....but... Same here. We got majorly dumped on Monday and it's not melting soon enough for me. On the other hand, we haven't gotten nearly as much snow as you guys or the east coast.

You got the snow we got on Sunday night, but I think you got twice as much. It's been a snowy winter, but no terribly cold days below 0. I'll take snow over 20 straight days of -0 weather anyday. But enough is enough. It's time for spring!
