A client just brought us a huge batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies. Doesn't help my diet (sorry, Spring), but I was so needing a cookie at this moment. It was fate. I am powerless against fate. Except when I choose not to be (Team Free Will FTW!). But right now, I choose to be powerless and succumb to the cookie. Cookie? Bad Monnie, bad!! But seriously, if you only ate one and didn't munch down on a half-dozen or so, I think you will be OK. And even if you totally gave in and had eaten a zillion of them, nothing to do about it and forgive yourself and move on to the next day. We really do need to try that "No S" diet that Michelle gave us the link to (over in the Health & Wellness thread). This allows some reasonable "cheating" on the weekends, which I think is smarter than trying to "never cheat." Maybe we can try that next.

Did I also mention that I'm PMSing in an especially horrendous way? And that I have been depressed and emo for over a week now? AND THAT I HAVE A RAZOR BLADE AND KNOW HOW TO USE IT?

Going for the pain--are we sure this isn't a Joss show? Or maybe Joss-influenced? Funny you should ask. Steven DeKnight said he's taking his cue from Joss on the whole doomed relationship thing. If I can find the interview quote again I'll post it. I can smell Joss a mile away. Diane *smug*

I took the leap and canceled my land line. I'm cell phone only now. Kinda scared, but also feel like it was way past time to do it. I've been land line free for about 7 months. I mostly don't miss it execpt when I want to rent a movie on Dish or something like that. Today the good: Geek Squad has my system up. I now am the proud possessor of a Wii, although I don't have the Wii fit yet. The smart remote is very interesting to learn. I was able to watch my Buffy vids (Crush and I Was Made To Love You). The Bad: The new wireless printer is not working. I think I'm supposed to connect it to my router, but I don't remember the router password. Plus: Getting used to a new remote--never easy. Wii--even basic with no special anything--fun. The Very Bad: I think I'm coming down with a cold.

So, I'm probably going to end up having Daisy, my "outside" dog, euthanized some time this week. She's really old (16 yrs old, and for a dog her size that's ancient), blind, deaf, arthritic, senile, and her kidneys and liver seem to be shutting down. I've had her at the clinic since early Saturday morning, and we've been giving her fluids and steroids and antibiotics, but she isn't improving very much, which I didn't really think she would. I still wanted to give her a fighting chance, though. I never have been very close with her--we've just never really "clicked" or formed a bond or anything. She's always been a really weird and not-all-there dog. I've never had to make the decision to put a pet down before. In a way, it's a bit easier than I thought it'd be, and in a way it's way harder. I can't imagine how torn up I'll be when it's Peanut and Marshall's turn. So sorry, Monnie.

Wii--even basic with no special anything--fun. The Very Bad: I think I'm coming down with a cold. Jim had one last week. Now I have it. Carolyn was here over weekend, also sick. As was Sarah, Tom's gf, who was also in town. We went out to dinner: Jim, Tom, sick Sarah, sick Sue and sick Carolyn. AS of today both Carolyn and I have been put on antibiotics -- she probably has a sinus infection (possibly for weeks now) and I finally caved and called the doc because when I get these lingering chest colds I cough like .... well, it's not pretty. Was up a lot during the night, but I was still willing to tough it out until 2 bad spells this afternoon that left me breathless and wheezing. Called the doc rather than have Jim come home and wind up hauling me off to emergency or something. So, also got a prescrip for cough syrup with codeine in it --- which would be a WHOLE lot more fun if I didn't react to codeine by getting sick. I can probably take it tonight, and maybe tomorrow. But more than that and when I come off of it I wind up severely sick to my stomach. TMI?

So very sad.
A very good friend of Allison's, currently a sophomore cinema major at USC was in a bad car accident last night out in CA. She was driving, passing a truck, lost control and hit another car head on. 3 of the 5 people in the other car had minor injuries. She is in the hospital with "major" but stable injuries but her boyfriend was killed.
They all had their seatbelts on and there is no allegation of cellphones or texting or anything. I know the girl and would be pretty certain that under the circumstance of driving fast while passing would bet that she wasn't doing anything that she shouldn't have. But what a horrific accident and how terrible for both families.
