So. What does the S'cubie Knowledge Base TM know about Pueblo, Colorado? I have a phone interview for a position as Assistant Professor of Biology at CSU Pueblo, and I'm trying to figure out just how much in the boonies it is...Erin? I just remember it's the source of many fine government publications, like "The IRS and You", "Cheese Storage Tips", and "Personal Hygiene on Pennies a Day."

Well, I understand Rachael is good at technical writing. She could make a few extra bucks free-lancing for the feds! She sure would do the S'cubies proud . . . just imagine Prevent the Spread of Genital Warts with Rachael's name right on the front, as the author.

Thanks for the link, Sue. Good luck with the plan, if you decide to go ahead. Things are going pretty well for Monnie & me. All the drama over the last week or so got her a bit off track, but not a lot. And she's putting it behind her and moving forward. Huh. I'm talking about her like she's not even in the room. Whoops. I am definitely down a size, and that size is beginning to feel a little loose. So all is good! Congratulations on the size decrease. And your song quote is one of my favorites - something about "My Immortal" gets to me every time I hear it. The video is very striking, too.

Yes, the song makes me cry - a lot, sometimes. But . . . I need to to cry, and it feels good to feel less alone in my feelings. There's validation in it, and ultimately, comfort.

I remember my father and I sitting outside at night during the Summer, watching the Milky Way from our backyard. All the lights of the city have made it impossible to see it here now. But, I did get a glimpse while at my uncle's place in Idaho. I love watching the night sky. It makes my imagination come alive again and takes me to another world.

Three days after that I'll be in Florida. So in order to keep up with the Scubies and other vital matters I bought myself an Archos. It's an internet tablet like the iTouch, but with more applications and with Android. Mind you, I do not as yet know what Android is, but I know I want one. Kinda like a tea cosy.So it's charging and I'm going to have to reboot my router so it and my new wireless printer can both talk to my computer and each other, so I'm off to talk to Dehli which is where they keep the technos who know this stuff. Ha!

I just added this to the Health and Wellness thread: I was reading a review of the latest version of the Atkins diet and the reviewer said to do the "DASH" diet instead. This is what it is: dashdiet.org/I've ordered the book from Amazon ($12.83 but I had 2 other books to bring it up to free shipping.) Also, I love Rachel's trade-marked "Scubie Knowledge Databse." And if she goes to work in Pueblo we do so need to do a Scubiefest there. Thanks for the link, Sue. Good luck with the plan, if you decide to go ahead. Things are going pretty well for Monnie & me. Yeah, the past couple of weeks were particularly bad for me, but so far this week has been an improvement. Onward and upward.

I got retweeted on Twitter by someone I've been trying to gain the attention of! Finally, my existence has been validated. I was beginning to think I had no worth.....

We've actually been getting rain today - not freezing rain, mind you (well, just above freezing, but that still counts!) but rain! So lots and lots of snow melt this week. The piles on my front lawn are so small now - only a foot or so of the piled up stuff is left! **dances about** I can almost believe that spring is on the way! Almost. I mean, yes, there's certainly plenty of possibility of more snow yet to come, but still. Rain! Even for someone like me who really really loves winter, the hint that spring does eventually come is a good thing.

Getting a kick out of checking out post Oscar fashion reaction: tvguide, huffington, fuggirls, and even (accidentally) caught Showbiz tonight while channel surfing and seeing that a number (several) of gowns are simultaneously making both "best" and "worst" lists depending on the site. Let me see: Zoe Saldana and Charlize, even Sandra B (somebody hated her gown -- ), oh, yeah and Sarah Jessica. There were others. Essentially, anything that was even slight off the norm provoked both thumbs up and thumbs down reactions. Didn't see any that were universally panned. Universally praised yes, but even ones that some people hated, other people loved. Miss Cyrus' getup was universally panned, as was her posture. Julia, and I was not sad for that. Nope, Showbiz Tonight on HLN liked her dress. Thought it was age appropriate. However, I agree with everyone else (of course they were the ones who also loved Saldana and Theron) --- I hate the hunching, but the dress was constructed so that if she had stood up straight she'd have popped right out. So maybe the fitter had no choice to fit it to her typical hunch-over.
