Part XI
Now we just need a Desmond/Penny reunion and my aww meter will go off the scale.
Jack arrives at the concert. But it's over.
Ah, Kate is going to make him flash.
flashing, flashing, flashing.
I know you don't understand, but if you come with me, you will.
Back on the island.
Jack, Hurley and Ben back at the Golden Cave.
Jack's going alone. Jack, Jack, Jack: what about "live together, die alone?"
Jack passes the torch to Hurley. Yep. Yay!!!!
A Oceanic water bottle for the ritual. HEE!! So perfect. I love how the ritual got more an more ghetto every time it happened.
Now you're like me.
I actually like how the ritual is like a fraternity ritual. like joining a fellowship of fellow wanderers.
Jack and Desmond in the Golden Cave.
You were right, Jack. There's a first time for everything. (HA!!!)
I'll see you in another life, brother. (Aww...)
Sawyer and Kate on Hydra station.
Claire still on the beach.
And they see the island sinking before their eyes.
Claire doesn't want Aaron to see her like this.
If you're capable of contemplating whether you're crazy or not, then I'd say there's still hope for you.
Golden Cave.
Jack puts the stone thing back. OK, I totally see all the Freudian imagery now. Wowsers.
Hydra station.
Kate, Sawyer, and Claire get on board the plane.
The plane takes off.
Golden Cave.
Putting the stone back didn't work?
Oh, there it is.
Wait, does this mean that Jack is going to turn into the Smoke Monster?
Ben and Hurley pull up Desmond.

Part XII
Locke and...his wheel chair?
Going to see Ben.
Oh, this is that church.
Ah, everyone congregated there.
Ben apologizes.
Locke was special and Ben wasn't.
Locke forgives Ben. Aww...
Ben has some things he still needs to work out. He's not ready to go in yet.
Locke blesses Ben. And goes into the church.
Back on the island.
Desmond and Ben and Hurley wait.
Hurley ponders his awesome responsibility.
Ben gives Hurley advice. Do what you do best, start helping people ...a better way to handle things than the way Jacob did things.
Hurley makes Ben his Richard. Aww...
Back in LA.
Ben ponders the church.
Hurley invites him in.
You were a real good number 2. And you were a great number 1, Hugo. Aww...
Jack and Kate arrive.
The church where the Christian's funeral was to be. Hmm...
Once you're ready to leave.
Back on the island.
Jack's body. Oh, he's not dead! Or is he?! He is the Smoke Monster now, right?
Back in LA.
Jack goes inside the Church.
Vestments and holy relics.
Christian's coffin. Aha, this is going to make him remember!!!!
This seems to be a multi-denominational church if that stain glass window is anything to go by.
Flashing, flashing, flashing.
And the coffin is empty. Just like it was before. And there's Christian!!!!
Time for some father-son reconciliation.
I don't understand. You died. Yes. Then how are you here right now. How are you here? I died too.
Aww.... Double aww...
Are you real? I sure hope so. Yeah, I'm real. You're real. Everything that's ever happened to you is real. All those people in the church, they're all real too. They're all dead? Everyone dies sometime, kiddo. Some of them before you, some of them long after you. But why are they all here now? Well, there is no *now* *here*. Where are we dad? Well, this is a place that you all made together so you could find one another. The most important part of your life was the time that you spent with these people. That's why all of you are here. Nobody does it all alone, Jack. You needed all of them, and they needed you. For what? To remember. And to let go. Kate, she said we were leaving. Not leaving, no. Moving on. Where are we going? Let's go find out. (Oh wow wow wow wow wow wow wow. This is so freakin' awesome.)
Back on the island. Jack still wanders bloody and alone.
Reunion scene. PENNY!!!!!!!
Back on the island. The shoes. Back to the beginning when the plane first crashed.
And Jack's going to see his younger self? Well, he lays down in the exact same position with similar injuries anyways. VINCENT!!!!
Christian leaves his flock. And there's the bit of light that's in all of us.
Ajeera flight passes overhead.
Jack's eye closes. The story ends.

Okay, fellow S'cubies. It's been a long strange trip. I did the first one and I feel honor bound to do the last one. A lot has happened since LOST first premiered and I am not jsut talking about what has happened on the series. So, here it is, the final discussion thread for an episode of LOST. Make it count. And, I would also like to take this time to announce that I am going to write my final LOST Discoveries review after watching. I would give you hints and clues, but I have no idea what I will be feeling, what we will learn. LOST is a little bit like life that way. See you all on the other side! Vlad Yayness! Looking forward to it.

Don't know what others will think but I liked it. I love a happy ending. It's like re-writing Romeo and Juliet to see them in heaven together. It's like the end of the Tolkien trilogy -- Aragorn gets elf-lady; Faramir gets horse-lady; Sam gets Rosie; bittersweet for Frodo, but he gets to go "over the sea." It's like the end of the Narnia books -- The Last Battle -- where they are all in the train accident but then they are in Narnia and going "further up and further in" and they find all their loved ones. I LOVE a happy, sappy ending. It wasn't exactly Christian imagery because, duh, no Jesus figure. I don't think everything about the island was ever explained (take out the plug, oh bad idea, put the plug back in) -- who knows how long Hurley actually lived on the island with only Benry for company. But nice imagery at the end. And Happy HAPPY HAPPY! endings all around for everybody. I was a mess every 15 minutes as people got their memories back. So maybe the island was just a metaphor for life: there is good; there is evil; there is the unknown and the unexplained and the good decisions and the bad decisions but through it all are the relationships, both friendships and love-ships, that carry us through and survive and sustain us. Not a bad message. Given what they had to live up to, my personal opinion is that it was great! I may never rewatch the ep, but if it were a book I'd definitely re-read it. *Nods, big time* It's about *that* defining moment in your life.

More thoughts.
The Ritual makes me think of "sharing water" in Stranger in a Strange Land.
It was pointed out of the twop recap that the conversation Jack and Juliet had when they flashed was the same one that they had right before she died on the island. So Juliet's "it worked" was referring to the vending machine caper, not the bomb going off at the Swan. A rather clever misdirect.

Going through the Question and Answers thread, and believe it or not, it actually seems like the vast majority of questions that we had while watching Lost were answered. I'm posting the ones that seem to be unanswered here (since the other thread is getting full) so we can discuss them. Be sure to add any other questions that I've missed.

ISLAND NAVIGATION
1.1 Pilot Part 1 QUESTIONS
*Why was the plane so far off course?
*What caused the plane's radio problems?
All I can think of for Oceanic 815 being off course and the radio problems is the influence of Jacob.
1.19 Deus Ex Machina QUESTIONS
*How did the drug plane get to the island?
The island seems to constantly change location, so it's plausible that it could have been in off the coast of Africa and in the flight path of the drug plane when it took off.
4.13/4.14 No Place Like Home II and III QUESTIONS
*Where (when?) did the island go to?
The island didn't seem to move in time when Ben moved the frozen donkey wheel. It definitely seemed to move in space, to...somewhere else in the pacific, in the flight path between LA and Guam.

SMOKE MONSTER/ESAU/MAN IN BLACK/NOTLOCKE
1.4 Walkabout QUESTIONS
*Why did the "monster" leave Locke alone?
I'm thinking that the Smoke Monster left Locke alone because he saw that Locke would be useful to him. Much as he later left Ben alone. It was all part of his master plan.
3.15 Left Behind QUESTIONS
*How does the fence repel the monster and why doesn't it go over the fence like Kate, Sayid, Locke, and Rousseau did?
5.12 Dead is Dead QUESTIONS
*Where did Locke go off to when Ben was in the Magic Bathroom and how does he know what he knows?
I think NotLocke left when Ben went to summon the Smoke Monster to be at where ever the receiving end of the Magic Bathtub was, since he couldn't be in 2 places at once.
6.1/6/2 LA X Part 1 and 2 QUESTIONS
*Why does the black ash stop the Smoke Monster?
6.14 The Candidate QUESTIONS
*How did NotLocke know that not all the Candidates had died?
The Esau seemed have precognitive abilities of some sort (even before becoming the Smoke Monster). He always seemed to just "know" things pretty consistently.
6.15 Across the Sea QUESTIONS
*What is Esau/Man in Black's real name?
I'm pretty much OK with him not having a name, since it's consistent thematically with conception of evil in our culture, and naming was a common theme throughout the show. I do wish that him not having a name would have been mentioned in the show though.

LOCKE
1.4 Walkabout QUESTIONS
*How was Locke able to walk again?
I guess that the islands magical mojo really did cure Locke's paralysis after all. Unless Jacob's touch also had something to do with it.
1.19 Deus Ex Machina QUESTIONS
*What was going on with Locke's legs in this episode?
1.13 Hearts and Minds QUESTIONS
*What was that hallucinogenic paste that Locke used?
Maybe it was just some natural chemical compound that Locke knew about because of his outdoorsman skills and nothing more?
4.11 Cabin Fever QUESTIONS
*What did it mean that Young Locke chose the knife?
5.6 316 QUESTIONS
*Who is Locke's son (that was referred to in the obituary)?

CHRISTIAN
1.5 White Rabbit
*What happened to Jack's dad's body?
3.12 Par Avion QUESTIONS
*How did Jack's dad meet Claire's mom in the first place?

WALT
What did the Others really do with Walt during the time they had him?
1.14 Special QUESTIONS
*Was the polar bear conjured by Walt or was it real?
*What is up with Walt?
1.24 Exodus Part II QUESTIONS
*Why did these guys capture Walt and blow up the raft?
2.9 What Kate Did QUESTIONS
*Why shouldn't you use the computer for communicating?
*Is Michael really chatting with Walt on the computer?
2.22 Three Minutes QUESTIONS
*Are The Others asking Michael these questions because they really need to know, or just to manipulate him?
3.22 Looking Glass
*How did Walt appear to Locke?

THE NUMBERS
How far back in time do Hurley's numbers go (at least as far back as . . . WWII . . . or earlier? Did the Dharma people just find them and exploit them in the bunker or did they create them, and therefore the Dharma people exist further back in time than we would have thought from their training film?
1.18 Numbers
*What is the ultimate meaning of the numbers?
*Is Hurley really cursed by the numbers?
I know some people think that the numbers began with the Candidates coordinates in The Lighthouse, but I'm not sure that explains the radio frequency and the hatch serial number and Hurley's lotto numbers, unless its some subconscious mojo.

ISLAND ARTIFACTS
1.9 Solitary QUESTIONS
*Who set up the transmitter Danielle put her message on?
Maybe it's just evidence of another layer of visitors to the island?
1.24 Exodus Part II QUESTIONS
*What's with the Hurley-bird?
The Hurley-bird could have been foreshadowing for Hurley becoming the protector of the island, I guess.
2.23 Live Together Die Alone QUESTIONS
*What is up with the four toed foot?
The show addressed the whole matter of the statue and so forth, but I'm not sure I understand why it had only 4 toes.
3.13 The Man From Tallahasse QUESTIONS
*What is the magic box that Ben speaks of?
I'm not sure if Ben was telling the truth about the Magic Box, since it turns out that he abducted Anthony Cooper from the real world and brought him to the island the old fashioned way. Though I suppose there really could be a Magic Box somewhere even if Anthony Cooper didn't come from it.
5.12 Dead is Dead QUESTIONS
*What's up with the Magic Bathtub?
Is this something that Esau and "his people" built when they built the frozen donkey wheel.
Are we to think that Esau is also responsible for the other ancient/Egyptian/pre-historic looking artifacts on the island? Or are they evidence of earlier visitors to the island?

1.10 Raised By Another QUESTIONS
*Did the psychic really know that the plan was going to crash, and what exactly did he intend to happen?
*What freaked the psychic out about Claire?
Is it possible that the psychic picked up on how the Smoke Monster's mojo and how would influence Claire and that's what freaked him out?
