That wasn’t a cliffhanger - that was a Blake’s Seven ending!
Not a proper review yet - just a few tired thoughts.
The Doctor is trapped in the Pandorica.
Amy is dead, in time-honoured, tragic love story style.
River is dead, killed when the TARDIS explodes.
Rory is an Auton!
The TARDIS has blown up and all the stars over time go supernova at once. So the universe has ended. In fact, all universes have ended.
Things look a bit bleak for our heroes! ;D
Let's think about a few things.
The lightning in the opening titles is now ridiculously loud. I’ve just made careful comparisons - this definitely isn’t my imagination. It really has been getting louder all season.
On arriving in Roman Britain, the Doctor says, “Earth, Britain, 1.02 AM. No, PM.” So, that confusion of AM and PM is there. Are things twelve hours out, for some reason?
So we know now why the Doctor was shifty when he came back for Amy in The Eleventh Hour. He took her with him because her house is "too big with too many empty rooms." (That weird third floor.) He asks, "Does it bother you, Amy, that your life doesn't make any sense?" (Parents, Aunt, etc.?)
We have some answers about memory. If lost people are remembered they can come back, apparently. The Romans, including Rory, are drawn from a child’s book. The Pandorica is drawn from another children’s book of the myth. Both come from Amy’s mind.
Who or what visited Amy’s house, leaving the scorch marks on the lawn and the door off its hinges?
The scene with Amy and Rory is clever, because it recalls Amy’s scene with Bracewell in which she convinces him of his humanity. We think at some level that the Bracewell scene was foreshadowing for this one. But it all goes wrong.
The Doctor is told that he will destroy the universe and he tells the assembled alien folk, “No, not me. The TARDIS. And I’m not in the TARDIS, am I?” I’ll quote myself from my review of The Eleventh Hour: “But he isn’t in the TARDIS, is he?” Uncanny! The fact is, the Doctor in the TARDIS doesn’t know, hasn’t noticed. Has there been some future Doctor in there, all along? Remember the end of Vincent when the TARDIS is covered in posters, as if sealing the doors? I wonder if that is relevant to this?
So who is controlling the TARDIS while River is trying to pilot her? Whoever it is keeps repeating that “Silence will fall.” We find out that River was taught to fly the TARDIS by the Doctor, at some point. So why did she say he was “busy that day” in The Time of Angels?
The Pandorica is the ultimate trap, but there’s one thing you don't ever put in a trap, remember…

I've just read your review. Absolutely - that is a season arc. And it's only been part revealed; the trap is only part sprung, as it were. Yes, we can now see things coming together, and yes the clues in the series really were clues, but there's more questions, if anything. There's still quite a bit of stuff from the clues list that will likely be addressed, but just thinking of this ep: Who was controlling the TARDIS? Was it "the Doctor in the TARDIS"? Who is saying, "Silence will fall"? Why are AM and PM mixed up? Who or what had visited Amy's house? If they'd taken a "psychic residue" from the house to get Amy's memories, then how come Rory could remember dying? Why doesn't Amy's life make sense? Why are there "too many empty rooms" in her house? I also thought of River's vortex manipulator wrist strap as a way out - the only way out of this I can think of - but to where? The explosion of the TARDIS will cause "Total event collapse, every sun will supernova, every moment in history. The whole universe will never have existed!" So where or when will she jump to? Still, what else can there be?

This shot is the bit when the Doctor is asking River to get the TARDIS for him. He has the vortex manipulator!

now he has going-everywhere! ... River = uh-oh ... Indeed. It does seem that both Amy and River have died in this version of things. Well, them and the whole universe. Perhaps the security features of the Pandorica, like timestops, will protect the Doctor from the end of everything. Anyway, on the left is a Dalek computer screen, on the right is the Pandorica: Also, here is Stonehenge from the air: And the crack on the TARDIS monitor from the end of the ep: There have been a lot of concentric circles this season. I've posted pictures from US aired eps in the clues thread.

Whoa. Now that's a cliffhanger. Okay, the circles on the Pandorica aren't the Phaistos disk, they're more like the tumblers on a combination lock. Wheels within wheels within wheels. Alex Kingston steals every scene she's in. Younger Daughter and I watched the Tennant episodes she's in, earlier this week; she's wonderful. Also she has awesome hair. I've always envied her her hair. Oh, Rory... Nice bit there recalling Amy and the scientist whatsisname, Bracewell. Too bad it didn't work out as well. Maybe she's not dead yet? Please? Things do look pretty bleak. In the immortal words of James Thurber, "The way is dark, and getting darker." Riff, I hope you've got that Amy Pond getup ready, because by the look of things, I'm going to need some serious cheering up after next Saturday. That policewoman kissagram outfit would do nicely... Oh, afterthought: If the TARDIS gets all blowed up, can it regenerate? I don't remember it ever regenerating before this season, at least that I've seen made visible to the viewer (although I do miss things, a lot ). Since we've now seen the TARDIS regenerate as well as The Doctor, perhaps that'll come into play as well. Is it next Saturday yet? Another afterthought: That's not Rory. It isn't even built from Rory's memories and personality, it's another construct of Amy's memories, like the "Roman soldiers". All that proves is that, as we knew, Amy didn't really forget Rory. On the other hand, if the soldiers and pseudo-Rory came out of Amy's memories, and Pandora's Box was her favorite fairy tale, what if the Pandorica is another Amy-construct? The whole thing could be taking place inside Amy's head... Or not.

Oh, of course. How stupid am I?
The scariest thing in the Universe? Imagine the level of fear that went into constructing the Pandorica....
How many times have we been told that The Doctor is the scariest thing out there? The Oncoming Storm?
Lovely trap, and I mean the writing, too.
Now, the question remains - who really set the trap? Why is the TARDIS exploding?

Lovely callbacks! Vincent sending the message through Churchill to Dr. Song who runs into the Queen. And even the drugged lipstick from the 52nd century and a vortex manipulator taken “I said ‘off the wrist’” from a Time Agent. Ha! (I have no hopes of it, but would love love love to see Captain Jack. **sigh**) Hello sweetie. And coordinates to Earth. Hmmm. “We are honored by your presence!” “Well, you’re only human. Arise . . . Roman person.” And Dr Song is Cleopatra, of course. Knew it – painting of the TARDIS going boom. And a classic “it’s a fairy tale, no one believes it” set-up. And then, Stonehenge – of course. “Maybe I did. But I haven’t yet. But I will have.” ;D Underhedge! Cyberhead! Woo! Most dangerous in the universe ever. Underneath Stonehenge, behind a big metal door with a wooden bar covered in some cobwebs? Really? **eyerolls and then giggles and gets back to suspended disbelief and just enjoying the fun** Ooooh, so did the cybermen try to open it and get the thing, but were all tore up instead? What’s in the Pandora-whatsis, eh? Don’t let it out, or at least make sure hope stays around after you do. Heee! The good wizard always turns out to be him. And Amy points out the Pandora’s box thing too. Coincidence? I don’t think so! Unlocked from the inside? Hmmmmm. Pay attention to Amy, doctor, she's a key to this. “You said everyone could hear it. So who else is coming?” **delighted shiver** Daleks, Doctor. ;D “But we’ve got surprise on our side! They’ll never expect three people to attack 12,000 Dalek battle ships! Because we’d be killed instantly, so it would be a very short surprise. Forget it.” All the enemies – all of them – are all here! Eeeep! Just this one time, run. So of course he won’t. He’s gonna fight them all with the Roman legions. Of course. “We’ve been playing host to Cleopatra. Who’s in Egypt. And dead.” “Yes. Funny how things work out.” Man, I soooooo love the scene with Dr. Song and the commander. “Where do I come from? Your world has visitors. You’re all barbarians now.” A memory . . . leaving traces . . . nothing is ever forgotten, not completely . . . coming back? Hmmm. Ooooh, more bits and pieces. “Does it every bother you, Amy, that your life doesn’t make sense.” “You’ll be fine, if you’re quick. He’s only got one arm.” Eeeep! Tentacle head wants her! Eeeep! Run from the assimilation, Amy! Wait . . . Rory?! WTF??! “Never underestimate a Celt.” Heeeee! Doctor all “I’m missing something, I’ll get it in a minute” and Rory is all “I’ll just wait for you to figure it out”. Died and turned into a Roman. Well, that’s settled then. Excellent bluff. I’ve got the Pandorica. You know who I am and what I’ve don’t to you before. Let someone else be the first to try to take it from me. Sometimes, impossible things happen. And the Doctor is all “get over it and deal”. Ha! Oh, the TARDIS is soooooooo not over it. Back to where it started – back to Amy’s house. The too big, too empty house. It’s been her tiny mind imaginings that’ve been guiding all this. Cool! Why is she crying – why is she happy – why is she the lynchpin to all of this, eh? “They actually believe their own cover story.” **shivers** Oh, nice tension and scary and eerie! Who’s doing the scary whisper “silence must fall” thingee, hey? Uh oh. All the Roman soldier tinker toy are changing and the big ol’ box opens and ... I’m Rory . . . I’m a thing . . .she remembers him! Anchor him, Amy! OMG! Nothing is coming out of the box, he’s going in! Of course, he is the most dangerous thing in the universe! All reality is threatened, all universes will be deleted. “We will save the universe, from you!” Amy! River! Doctor! The universe! Everything! Well, that is one HELL of a “what’s gonna happen next” ending! ;D

Things are a bit on the grim side, it's true. You are in Steven Moffat's hands! And so are my future fashion choices, apparently. Well, unlike Captain Jack the Doctor wouldn't survive if he was blown to bits. No regeneration, there. As for the TARDIS, who knows? An excellent point. That's so horrible and tragic. And now I must not type anymore. Yes. ;D

Why is the TARDIS exploding? As the Daleks call him in various fanon spin offs, the Ka Faraq Gatri: bringer of darkness, destroyer of worlds - something Davros calls him Journey's End. The myth of the Pandorica suggests this: "One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world." And, yes, many questions.
