In Spike's lair, with both Buffy and Drusilla physically restrained, it is still Spike who feels powerless. He throws a fit:
"He turns away, throws the stake away and gives a loud angry yell.
SPIKE: (shouting) Gaaah! What the bleeding hell is wrong with you bloody women? What the hell does it take? Why ... do you bitches torture me? "
I love this scene. The timeless baffled male reacting to the timeless baffling female. These few words and actions just capture the whole male-female conundrum that has fueled civilization and its literature and poetry since the beginning. Do you suppose the Neanderthal men were just as flummoxed by the Neanderthal women?

On one of the discussion threads here , here somewhere some wrote that Spike persued Buffy -- I geuss that hinted it was a one sided thing . Well I don't agree with that I think they both persued each other .
Though Spike was very up front and open with it uhhh....
Well Buffy persued Spike on a unconsciuos level , Riley certainley saw that otherwise why would he even worry about Spike --- her freinds certain ssaw it too ,they did'nt want him near her
It was kind of a school yard thing --- torture the boy (vampire in this case) just a little more than the rest, I am of course guilty of doing the same thing back on the playground.
Come on in she even said that he would only have a shot with her if she was unconscious thought that was interesting and that flomoxed talk in potential oh boy!
brain fart over
