Evilly snurched from someones LJ, a moment of fannish serendipity: Gareth David Lloyd, Cliff Simon (Ba'al, SG-1) (I think), David Hewlett, James Marsters Who please is the darling girl at the right? Julia, Flannigan would have been there too but missed his subway stop. Oh, that is a pretty line up! I forgot how pretty Ba'al was . . . Lots of nice photos coming out of that Con. Two details: Weirdly, D. H. is now thin compared to J.M. And also, in other photos in this series, you can see that Mr. Marsters is standing downstage from the rest of the line-up by about two feet; old stage actors trick to make you seem taller, that is. And with autofocus cameras it insures that you'll be the one in sharp focus. Julia, owns the stage, he does.

Hi, Sue! And haven't got to read the last dresden book yet. nor the one before it. Will be downloading to listen to them perhaps, because I've seemed to have run out of time for most of anything, but I still have to drive places, so that still allows me to get some multi-tasking in by doing enough reading to keep my soul intact. Currently reading the Ender Wiggin series and finding Julian Delphiki (Bean) to be an utterly fascinating character. Matthew! I"m rereading Ender right now! Have to go watch flood news but will write more.

Be honest, am I a total buzzkill/pain in the ass when I talk about product placement? I'm really really sorry if that's the case. I don't want to be putting down shows people like. Well, I enjoy Bones and I probably miss a lot of the product placement but I'm beyond peeved at DB at the moment.

You're getting really good at birds, wow! Julia, about ready to pinch some alleged adult male's head off right now for reasons of sheer obnoxiousness.

I have to say it was fairly odd to see pics of NV on the Rachel Maddow show and her appealing to viewers to text 90999 to donate $10 to the relief effort in Nashville. It's rather disconcerting to see all of the devastation and sort of be out of it. But I am beginning to realize that this is going to have a HUGE economic impart on the city. Lots of conferences and conventions are having to be canceled. And of course the repairs to roads, schools, taxpaper buildings, etc. But really odd to see it mentioned on Maddow. Okay then, this was interesting in that context. I thought The Weather Channel gave us lots of coverage but I guess not so much on the news stations? I have to admit that nobody in Chicago seemed to be aware of the flooding occurring in Nashville. The blizzards in DC, etc, certainly got a whole lot more coverage but I don't think they did nearly as much long term damage. Maybe if the 48 hour storm had been a named hurricane it would have gotten more national coverage.

Freaking. Awesome. As to why the kingfisher was looking up--well, there was an osprey in the vicinity, wasn't there? Ya gotta watch for predators while you're, uh, predating.

If I hadn't had you and my other friend, I wouldn't have known Nashville had been hit so hard. As it is, I'm beginning to wonder about my upcoming trip. My friend has no power and is staying with some other friends. It all makes me very angry. All over the US technicians came to Houston to help restore power after Hurricane Ike. Seems like we could be doing the same for Nashville. OTOH, you must be very proud of your city. The few articles I have been able to find are unanimous in praise of the lack of looting and other crime. You got one helluva city there.

He can get on my nerves, but he does care about people, and he does a good job of covering disaster in terms of what help is needed and how viewers can help. I'm glad you're safe, Sue, but sad for the devastation in the area. It really looks appalling.

Two thoughts: --Talking about product placement does not constitute "putting down" a show. It's part of reality for these shows, like having commericials. --It's OK to criticize a show someone else likes. As long as you stay away from sarcasm/nasty comments and criticizing the fans (rather than the show), there is nothing wrong with mentioning your dislike of any show, or some aspect of the show. To expect that no one will ever criticize a particular "sacred to you" show/character is (IMO) a bullying tactic.

I haven't liked the feeling that I must be quiet on the matter.

I think there's been rumors about this for years and years. As long as we're talking DB, and not "Angel," and as long as I personally don't have to count on him for anything other than delivering a adequate performance in a role, my only thought is this: Can't say about the wife, as I know nothing about her own behavior or what sort of arrangement they might have - but I do generally feel sorry for kids in this kind of situation.
