Weird damned weather. Thunderstorms rolling up from Central Oregon, no less, which is, like, August weird weather to boot. Laying abed listening to thunderstorms and reports on the Gulf oil spill = not my favorite kind of sleeping weather. On the other hand, I can't eat for another two hours or so or it will fuck up my whole day, diabetes-wise. Too much too much. Julia, not insane enough to get dressed and go pull the driveway drains, either. I suspect we are going for hottest June ever. 10 days over 90 so far, and most of the remaining were 88/89. And over 90 (like 95, 97 and 98!) for the remaining 10 days. It's like July or August around here. And I swear the humidity was about 98% last night when we were loading Tom's moving truck. Yeah, it's been just ridiculously hot and humid around here, for June, at least. Thankfully, I just bought myself a treadmill, so I don't have to wake up at 4:30am to go walking without risk of heatstroke anymore.

*sigh* Things were going well, at least as well as they ever go for me, today, and then... we stopped at the mall so I could pick up the See's candy my mom wants, and I asked the Husband to get me a lemonade. A plain lemonade. He couldn't find it on the board, even though there's a huge sign right next to the drinks place that has LEMONADE in HUGE LETTERS and a big picture of a glass of plain lemonade. No, instead of asking if they had plain lemonade (or getting me a iced tea, which was my initial request), he ordered a strawberry lemonade. Now, there are few drinks in the world I loathe more than strawberry lemonade, unless it's peach-flavored tea. I tasted it. It's gross, and disgustingly sickly-sweet. I gave it to Kitty, who thinks it's grand. No accounting for taste. What the heck is wrong with me? One little stupid thing happens, and all of a sudden, I'm ready to either burst into tears or kill the next person who gets on my nerves, and Emily is walking pretty close to that edge right now. I'd better go fix myself something else to drink before my headache grows into a full-fledged problem. I have too much work to do to be sick.

It's possible to endure goodness knows what, but also to snarl or fall to pieces over something completely trivial. Not that this sounds trivial. Strawberry lemonade? Peach-flavoured tea? What kind of bizarre and depraved mind came up with those?

Well, I'm over a week late, so my apologies, but I think I'm still in the range for a belated: HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATTHEW!
IT'S NEVER TO LATE TO CELEBRATE! Not snipping because of the "next page" thing! Woohoo! Thanks, Erin! You're a gem. Just finished ripping/listening to Disk 1 of "Think Tank" and I envy you the energy of being in that room. Must have been incredible. Your first sigline quote: that's just before they head off for the incident at the funeral, yas? And regarding Clerks II: I swear to god, I had the same conversation with my mom that Randall has with Dante over the "4 Life" term. No lie. I love the way that Smith, despite his career as a filmmaker and his fairly well-defined future, has such a great grasp still on the "what the hell am I going to do now?" aspect of life, which is what I see is the main theme of Clerks II. Perhaps it's because a filmmaker has to constantly deliver new and interesting visions or he's likely to be regarded as less relevant to the time. /Saturday Afternoon Rambletangent

In fifteen minutes the Pandorica opens... Making my flight arrangements right now. How long is the episode? Around 50 minutes. I've just watched it twice and am reeling. Some clues answered, some teasingly referred to, yet more questions!

Good thoughts! Must think on it awhile. Based on the sounds that woke me up last night, my cat was building a fort in my closet. Dork. She could be getting ready for kittens. Um. Unless she's a he. She's a she, but she is also 17, which makes her pretty nigh ancient in human years, so no kittens for her, I don't think. And she's an indoor cat with no other cats around. Plus the fact that she's fixed. She used to hang out down the basement a lot, and just suddenly started hanging out in my bedroom closet. She has been either jumping into my dirty laundry basket (because apparently she doesn't think there's quite enough cat hair on my clothes already), or hiding behind shoe boxes in the back corner. Very strange, my cat.

I've had lunch and a bit of a nap, and am feeling less brittle now.

if it's beccaelizabeth on dreamwidth then it's me Someone here listens to Big Finish? Amazing! I mostly enjoyed the humour, like the crazy shifts in narrative style and incidental music, but the metafiction piled on metafiction got a bit much, like Nick Briggs playing himself and then morphing into the Cybermen, or Zoe talking about pseudo-historicals and base-under-siege plots and then being the author of what were basically Target novelisations. I couldn’t decide whether I liked it or not. And, yes, the ending was sad. They really blew an opportunity, there, I think. I didn't listen to audios until Torchwood did some audio exclusives and I realised actually subtitles aren't required. Then I started with the 8th Doctor series. And now I've got about a dozen randoms to go before I own every 8th Doctor and monthly Doctor Who title they've made. After that, Companion Chronicles, Gallifrey, and more... and then I'll be stuck waiting for the new releases... Big Finish is great fun. Fully acted audio plays with proper plots and everything. I don't think they're exactly part of the same continuity as the TV episodes, but they make a great complimentary 'verse. The metafiction and stuff I think is very layered on fan stuff. I mean, a lot of the 8th Doctor adventures you could just jump in and listen to, but imagine Legend of the Cybermen being the first time you met any of those characters! But then who would listen to Jamie and Zoe if they weren't a long time fan? And I usually love it when they layer in the long history of the 'verse. It just felt a bit much, maybe? #shrugs# I still sulking about the ending.

And also how badly you want to look like Juice Newton.

So, Sunday night. Leverage -- yes. Anybody going to watch 2 new shows on ABC: Scoundrels and The Gates (vampires and suburbia?) Plus 4 hours (I think, 2 parts anyway) of The Phantom on SyFy What are y'all going to watch? I'm watching less and less tv these days. I'm watching FNL and True Blood, and that's about all that I'm watching that airs right now. Other than the World Cup, that is. I'll probably still watch Leverage, but I stopped watching Burn Notice. Just had no desire to watch it anymore. I'm almost done watching Deadwood dvds. And I just started watching Carnivale. I'll probably watch The Wire once I'm done with Carnivale.
