Tonight's football? It's going to be an England win. I'll say 2-0. Let's hope it's better than France and Uruguay last night. A good cure for insomnia, that one. Riff: John Oliver, on the Daily Show last night, did a hilarious report on the US/England match-up. Suck it, USA."Sorry, videos are not available in your country." Which is ironic. Thank you for the thought, though. Well, it's halftime and I'm already wrong. 1-1 so far. England are probably playing best, but the USA are a fine team and deserved to equalise. The Doctor was playing football in tonight's ep. *laughs* It's almost as if they timed that to coincide with the match immediately after. ;D

'sweird to have a US National men's team that doesn't have Kasey Keller at goal, especially since when he was playing in the Premiere League he always played for US.
Julia, and he may follow Junior into the sunset this year, alas.

See, this is why professional soccer has never taken off in the US. A competitive game that ends in a tie and doesn't go into overtime so that one trounces the other and emerges the victor? It's unamerican!

Hmmm Homemade kanimaki, chicken teriyaki onigiri, mushubi, mango nigiri for dinner and homemade azuki bean ice cream for dessert. What do you think, is it enough of a bribe to make Kathy say yes to performing the ceremony?
Keep your fingers crossed for us?

Julia, what else I'd say would have to go in the other thread, and I'm too zapped to take the effort. Damned grass. Damned weedeater.

Well, you were kind enough to say yes early, before people started turning us down for various things. We can work out a bribe after the fact, actually we do need to figure out a way/time we can get together to be able to go over plans.

I like the fact that they each made/make sly allusions to the others work from time to time; The Lost Continent swipes a bit of bird description from Adams' Last Chance to See. Julia, I also suspect that both of them read a good bit of Gerald Durrell when they were lads. Interesting! Also, I don't know Gerald Durrell. I'll have to check that out. My family and Other Animals is a great place to start. Durrell is a revelation. Julia will have (and has probably already detailed) more and better recs for Durrell's work, both memoir and professional. And I still refer to awkward little boats as "bootle-bumtrinkets" in honor of that book.

Oh, love the onewith the spider! We seem to have switched weather; it was dry and warm bere today, and I celebrated by cutting grass and going to a wedding. Julia, and getting a face full of pollen so my head is pounding, too

Also: mattress report: My knee, it doesn't hurt! HAH! Julia, also, my hips are much better. *Does Happy Mattress Dance* *regards that* Uh, I mean, happy dancing.. oh, screwit. *Resumes Unashamed Happy Mattress Dance, confident he won't be too badly misinterpreted*
