I have to go dissasemble Franklin's shower set-up and go take a shower so Anna and I can go shopping as soon as she gets up.
Julia, or, like my husband, I could just go back to bed for a while.

I went out, I went back to the estate sale I found on Thursday and bought a few more cool things. The owner was apparently into Cost Plus and Pier 1, and in particular Mexican folkart, so I had a lot of fun. Although it was also sad, because judging from the things that were out for sale (craft supplies too), we would've had a lot in common. I even scored a flag tack pin to go with the authentic USSR commie badges Emily's getting for her birthday. ;D Also there were other yard sales, more and more interesting than of late, and I found a few more useful cigar boxes. I did not buy all of them, just three nice ones which I could even embellish later if I get inspired. I went out to breakfast, and I picked up the daughters' joint birthday cake on the way home, and now I'm trying to decide what to do next. Well, if I wait a bit longer, Car Talk will be on and I can put away laundry and potter around my studio while I listen. It's raining a bit again. Last weekend we had triple-digit record breaking highs, and today it's warmish and humid and thundery. California weather does get interesting. ETA: {{{{{Julia}}}}}

A bit of the touch and go for the Buckeyes today, but a W in the end.
Scones again! Dammit, I am going to keep at this until I get it right. Why? Because! Chocolate chip this time.

Went to faire and got my pass and parking permit. The gypsies welcomed me back very warmly. It's been 10 seasons since I worked with them and they're giving me a prime spot for my readings. Felt almost like coming home. Gypsies rock.
Also saw some cast members, it being dress rehearsal weekend. Got lots of hugs and "Where've you beens". Whenever I think I'm going to quit for good I get times like these to remind me why I'm there.
Stopped at Teavana on the way home and bought some green healthy tea and some fruity flavors and a nice Oolong to mix together, also a thermos with a built in teaball for the office. Did I mention that someone took my old tea ball and broke it? Count that as reason #1,403,349 why Rennies are better.
I also brought back some very expensive treat -- a pint of mocha gelato. I shall indulge tonight over some True Blood and Generation Kill videos for some Skargard droolage.
That man gets my Wednesday revving even when I feel like sh*t.

Posted by Anne in the last part:That was... interesting. First, I got a call from my doctor's office. The ultrasound of my thyroid turned up a nodule, about 1cm, and my doctor wants me to see an endocrinologist. So I decided that since I hadn't gotten enough sleep last night, I was going to lie down for a bit. Then it commenced to thunder, and of course Shadow was outside and nowhere to be found. Patches was Very Unhappy, and I had to find her a safe place to hide. Then there was thunder, and lightning, and rain, and Shadow was still nowhere to be found. So Paul and I went looking here, there and everywhere, but the more we looked, the more she wasn't there. I decided she was probably under a bush or the potting bench, watching us. Then the appointment center called to schedule my visit to the endocrinologist. And then Kitty called from school, asking to be picked up because lightning had struck a palm tree across the street, the campus had been evacuated and the power was out. Since I knew where to pick her up, and Paul didn't, I drove down there. Half the signals were out and people were not obeying the laws as to how to navigate an intersection where the signals are out. But I got down there, saw the burned-out palm tree, picked Kitty up and got home safely. Kitty being Kitty, she'd finished her midterm and was reading when the storm hit. When the tree exploded, she rushed to the window and pulled out her camera. Behold the burning bush palm tree: And while I was out, Shadow the Wretched Weasel-cat had reappeared, with cobwebs in her ears, which means she was probably under the potting bench the whole time. Paul and I have been out to lunch, and now I'm going to try for a lie-down again. Wish me luck. PS: Am I the only one who sees "endocrinologist" and thinks "crinoid"? Oh. Just me. Okay then. PPS: Bestest Buddy, who is also the daughters' Honorary Auntie and Goddessmother, on being shown the photos of the burning tree, remarked something to the effect that it's quite the birthday candle. It's Kitty's 18th. Best of luck with the crinoidologist endocrinologist. And that is one awesome photo!

Hee! Birds bathing! ;D Love the colors in the sky - hope you had a "sailor's delight" kind of day. Mom always used to call that "sky-blue-pink".

Orchestral season opener last night. Lovely lovely pretty rendition of Brahms' Symphony No 2, as well as von Weber's Overture to Oberon and a new piece - world premier of Einojuhani Rautavaara's Towards the Horizon. I really liked it, very expansive and with a real feeling of movement. My companion enjoyed the cello solo part and performer (Arek Tesarczyk), but didn't care for the orchestration. C'est la vie, yes? Onward and upward and TV to catch up on tonight!

Hee. The Husband got an early birthday present.
I noticed at the time that one of the cigar boxes I got this morning for a buck apiece had some stuff in it, but since I just wanted the box, I stuck it in my tote bag and forgot about it. I just looked at the contents. It's Rapidographs and accessories for same.
I promptly presented the box and its contents to the Husband; his eyes lit up like it was a treasure chest (which, to him, it is ;D ). Some of the ink bottles have dried out, but we have ink and we were planning a run to Art Supply Warehouse tomorrow anyway, so more can be bought. He's as happy as a pig in mud, or a vampire on blood-donation day, or something.
I think he's set for the evening. Heeeeeee.

Between that and the estate sale with the costume jewelry and Mexican folkart, this is the most fun I've had in months. It was a good morning, all around.
