Back to work today. Would much rather be in LA, sitting in front of Joan's on Third, reading a book and sipping a cappucino. Jim is in Houston today and tomorrow -- that makes it almost as cool as LA! He's scheduled to so some kind of talk at Baylor during the exact time that the Baylor women are playing their NCAA tournament game to reach the Final Four. (Notre Dame defeated Pat Summitt's UT team last night. The eastern half of TN is draped in black crepe.)

Whoo hoo!!! Get to packin' woman! I am having a feast or famine kind of experience: After wallowing in pity for the last week because I have no friends or family nearby, I was just able to confirm that a friend can see me this Thursday. Then on Sunday, I'll be picking my mom & dad up at the airport to stay with me for a week, and then today I found out that my sister and her three kids are coming to stay with me for several days right after that! THEN, the day after they leave, I'm going to a conference in San Francisco for 3 days with a couple co-workers. My cup runneth over! By the time everyone goes home you will be well and truly family-ed out! Here's to overrunning cups! Yes! And my sister just informed me that we HAVE to go to this pizza place in Denver called Casa Bonita while she's here. Erin??? Ever been there? I did a little google fu and found this: www.southparkstudios.com/clips/176600/less-than-a-minute

So, last night at midnight I was listening to the wind and rain and decided that I'd never get to sleep if I didn't get up and give the chickens more weather protection, so I went out in my long winter coat, July in the Highlands Hat, and shoes with no socks and put heavy black plastic around the south end and the west side of their box.
I wanted to get something interesting to motivate me to leave the computer more, but I'm not sure that's what I meant.
Julia, slept well after, however.

Your chickens are beautiful, Julia. Aren't they, though? I find myself going out just to stare at them. Julia, can't wait until I can free range them and get better pics with no intervening wire. They are lovely birds.

Diane, I always kept quiet when you dissed Disney, because , you know, I love The Rescuers Down Under, and Swamp Fox... but today I learn they're putting a Miss Marple reboot out, with Jennifer Garner as Miss Marple and my outrage is immeasurable.

And when I saw the South Park episode, I just about pissed myself laughing. That pretty much sums up any kid's reaction to Casa Bonita...

My sister's kids will love it then. I, on the other hand, will probably want to shove a letter opener into my ear canal, but I'll try to restrain myself.

Julia, ICK ICK ICK I dissed the Disney theme park, not the movies or cartoons. I love the cartoons but the park is awful! But why are you giving me the ration over Miss Marple? When did we EVER discuss Agatha Christie? I really don't understand. (Jennifer Garner? WHAAA??)

Hey, all! Whoop whoop! How's it goin', all? I'm having a little drink or two, hoping to kill off an impending cold with alcohol! Think it'll work?
