This episode felt like a string of cute bits looking for a plot to tie them together. Actually, that could apply to the entire season - I feel like they blew their big plotline too early, and the show has been floundering since at least "Let's Kill Hitler" and maybe even the mid-season break. What's with the father-son love-conquers-all thing? There ought to have been at least one mother-daughter story to balance the Amy-River tragedy (and please note that I'm not saying that Rory didn't suffer, but the bond is different, not to mention Amy having her baby turn to sludge in her arms). Or a father-daughter story (and come to think of it, poor Rory never even had time to bond with his daughter), or a mother-son, or something... Speaking of which, River is the child of the TARDIS? That gives her three parents, so to speak, and if the TARDIS is the Doctor's wife, he makes a fourth. Interesting, if they do anything with it. Yes, I know it's a symbolic statement because she was conceived in the TARDIS, and all that, but it's fun to play with the concept. Okay, aimless speculation about the finale, based on what we saw at the end of this episode: It does look like that's adult River in the astronaut suit in the lake. But who's in charge, River or the Silence? Aimless speculation follows. Please bear with me, 6:30 in the AM here, and I'm only up because I couldn't get back to sleep after I fed the cats and I have a headache. The only way I can see to get out of this with the Doctor not really and sincerely dead is if River somehow regains control of the situation. My best guess is that the death we saw at the beginning of this season was somehow a fakeout; River was running around giving orders and telling Amy and Rory to stay back. Maybe she's in on things. Or maybe I'm way off base. I guess we'll find out next weekend. And by the way, was the Flesh Doctorganger destroyed, or is he still out there somewhere? My brain hurts...

I knew who would be in the astronaut suit but I didn't think it would be Dr River Song.
It'd be interesting if it was a fake out since she's in prison for killing him.

Guess we find out tonight whether this is a *series* finale or *season* finale. I tried looking but it's not clear.
