Pirate Xander! Anya's special perfect hair angel!
"Not really much for the timber." ;D
There goes Dawnie, sneakin' another little trinket.
**goes to happy place of Buffy/Spike basement scene, with the leather collar and the 3 to a jar and "bit of the rough and tumble" and the Great Pumpkin and the "so much easier to talk to when he wanted to kill me"**
Heee! Flustered!Giles is fussy and fun. ;D
Ah! Slightly creepy but actually OK old guy! Classic example of what slightly ominous music and our own pre-conceived notions will let us start to think.
"Store go boom. Arggg." ;D
Oh, Anya! **bounces happily** I can see why Xander loves you.
(I've always loved how Tara is so un-complicatedly happy for them, and her congratulations are so sincere.)
The truth behind the glasses cleaning. I can't believe Buffy never figured that out before.
Well, I sort of can believe, actually . . .
Can I try it on?
Oh, absolutely not!
Oh, Willow. So with the fake pretending like you don't know what is bugging Tara. Also? I tend to forget that this scene makes it clear that they've had this discussion/argument before, 'cuz Willow is all "you're always getting down on me" - which I think is an exageration, but does mean this is not the first time this subject has come up. And Tara is pretty straightforward about how she feels.
Huh. And I just realized that Dawn is genuinely happy about the engagement too. Which is a change from how she felt before. I suppose as her crush on Xander faded, she really didn't have as much reason to dislike Anya.
Buffy is trying to be all big sister here and involved in Dawn's life and so on. I think Dawn (and we) forget that she actually does a lot of parenting, especially considering all the obstacles she's trying to overcome.
[Sidebar: Nice boots, Dawnster!]
I like that they show Dawn's first instinct is to pick up a weapon and keep going when there are spooky noises. Very "slayer's little sister".
The three other people hanging out with the guys in the park . . . are they vamps too? Or were they just old friends from high school?
Michelle T actually does a nice job with that "I want to look cool and I kinda like this guy, but I'm also a little nervous about hanging with them and what it might lead to" vibe. Even before the fangs come out. I well remember that kind of evening . . . Also? Nice metaphor with the guys pretending to be less crude/out for what they can get than they really are when the girls are listening. Even before the fangs come out.
"Anya's a wonderful former vengence demon. I'm sure you'll spend many years of non-hell-dimensional bliss."
Oh, Giles. You've been wanting to torture Xander with this kind of stuff for
ever, haven't you?
Heh! I gotta confess, I'd laugh at the "don't make me go all kung fu on you, man" thing too.
(I also want to know what that "one thing" is that he did wrong so they took away his toys. And, he's not the killer here, but the old guy is creepy, with his "who wants to help daddy" and the missing head toys and stuff.)
Oh, the humanity! Those poor rice krispie treats!!
And of course, we don't even get one whole ep of happy engaged couple before we can see the writing on the wall of how it's all gonna crash and burn, can we? ;D 'Course, we've seen the likely problems all along with Xander and Anya. They'll just continue to build and fester until the whole mess hits the wall at the wedding.
Oh, the look on Buffy's face, when Anya talks about happiness. "This is love, and celebration." This is the way life is supposed to happen . . .
Continuity for the win, with Xander recognizing the "tell each set of parents that you're over at the other house" ploy that they used so well (and apparently often) in high school themselves. Also? It may just be the upset Tara on the sofa giving it a bit of a downer feel, but is this one of the less-festive parties ever?
Oh, the scene in the car is just ouchy-painful-wince-causingly real feeling. Even before the fangs come out.
He's all sensitive "you wanna go" and she's all uncertain and "what do you expect" and "I kiss all the time" and, oh the ouch!
Rather smug little smile on Willow's face when she says what she's planning on doing. That's one danger sign/tip that things are not right. Another one? Her plan itself.
Shift everyone who isn't a 15 year old girl to an alternate dimension? To quote Tara, WHAT? I mean, seriously, WTF?!
That was her first thought to see if Dawn in in the crowd?
Tara doesn't realize yet that Willow sees Giles as a problem/threat. She thinks that Willow will respect Giles' opinion. In fact, from the look on her face as she says it, she thinks Willow will respect it more than Tara's opinion, and that hurts her.
Heh! Love Spike and his "kids these days".
Giles gets all fighty and kick-ass!! Woot!!
Oh, Dawn! Never believe the "you're something special" line!!
Oh, there
are those same 3 kids from the park! So, they were vamps! I can't believe I never really wondered about that before/checked that out before.
**loves on the whole "were you parking with a vamp" and "like you've never fallen for a vamp" and "excuse me, can we fight now" and "your sister's the slayer?" and "I'm the rebel" and fightfightfight and I could quote it all! scene** ;D ;D ;D (Well, except for the unfortunately not uncommon this season really really bad Spike stunt double thing.
Buffy double is not too bad, though.)
Like slayer, like sister. Dawnie has to stake her first kiss guy, Buffy had to send her first love to hell. Circle of
slaying life, I guess.
Mmmmm. Giles is ruggedly handsome.
And there goes the shifting of responsibility thing. But she did try earlier, so she's not always checking out.
Tara is realistically angry. And something tells me Willow is not completely new to the "forget" spell. The materials are too handy and she's too facile with it. Also, not totally surprised by the results, just checking that it all went smoothly. Disturbing!!
