Hail! No, really. Hail, rain, thunder, lightning. All as I was driving home from TJs, and still ongoing. Getting the groceries in from the car to the house was interesting, to say the least. Shadow was so miserable and scared that she actually let me pick her up and sooth her. I finally escorted her to Kitty's bedroom and strongly advised her to go under the bed. I suspect Patches is under my bed; she was last seen heading in that direction.

Howdy.
Calving season.
Busier, oh, goody.
Do wish that micromanaging freak David had been auffed last night, but oh, well.
Julia PR just gets weirder and weirder.

Last chemo for round 5. Getting tougher but only one to go. And, praise be, I can cope by just doing less and less until: today pretty much nothing. But since it's the first time this week I haven't needed extra nausea meds it looks like sitting still may be the way to go!
Allison's check list:' tornado: check hurricane: check blizzard: yeah, about to be (although in 5 years in Chicago maybe she's already been there done that.
Surviving the wedding details will probably be the biggest challenge.

Hey Sharky! Since you mentioned Capt Picard it gives me an excuse to show you this: steveheisler.com/post/40256880553/patrick-stewart-joins-improvised-shakespeare-companywhich is of personal note to me because the guy who founded and heads the ISC is my older daughter's bf! Julia has both her kids engaged and planning weddings. My son married last April and my younger daughter will marry this April. How is your son doing at college? (other than fabulous?) Wow! That would have been something to see! Improv looks easy at times, but I can't imagine ever trying it. For Patrick Stewart to go with it and become one of the troupe says a lot about the man. Lots of weddings! Jeremy is dating off and on, but nothing serious. He's finishing up his junior year in computer science (with a gaming emphasis, of course) and squeezes in film & digital media courses as electives when he can. He's also working as a research assistant for his favorite FDM prof; which involves watching people play video games on different platforms and then administering a survey and compiling the results. He's got to maintain a 3.0 to keep his scholarship, but with 3 semesters to go he could average about a 1.7 and still do that. I'll keep praying for your health, Sue.

Neither have I, if that makes you feel any better. Me neither. Never got around to seeing The Hobbit Part 1, either. Movies are one of those things that seems like not worth the effort. S'cubies It's frozen out there, brrrrrrr.

Just got done with my rural primary care rotation in Saratoga, WY. Fell of the board cause I couldn't get my computer to work with the internet of the cottage I was staying. And most weekends I was in Elk Mountain, again where my relatives don't have internet. So Now I'm up in Casper in the land of mystery internet. Starting orthopedic surgery on Monday. Also waiting to hear about the results of the AOA match on Monday, where hopefully I will find out where I'm going to be for Residency.

So I started a rewatch of all of Buffy with Firefly (aka Priya). We do skip episodes that I think are too scary for her (she won't see Hush until she's 18) and I frequently warn her to close her eyes for some bits but we're enjoying it. We're halfway through Season 2 now and had this conversation tonight while watching Surprise: "So who's your favorite character?" "Buffy, Cordy, Angel....a little bit Spike, Drusilla, Xander, Jenny, Giles, and especially Willow!" "Priya, you just named everyone but Oz!" (giggling) "Oh, yeah, I like Oz, too!" It is hard to pick! Interesting that you think of Hush as the scariest ep - it's not at all high on the gore, but (depending on your temperment, I guess, and you know your kid) it is high on the "disturbing." I have two girls - 16 and 13 - who have been living with me as foster daughters for 1.5 yrs now. They've been overexposed to "disturbing," so I haven't broken out the Buffy yet. But if they stay with me much longer, I may do it. If you do it in the right way, it may be a really good way for them to help them process the disturbing stuff that has happened in their lives. Like an episode at a time you can stop and start and at the scary moments and talk about what they think about what's going on. I think one of the best things about the show is that it provides a medium for discussion about really important issues to teens.

But if they stay with me much longer, I may do it. I definitely found HUSH the creepiest overall episode. The Gentlemen and their cohorts are more nightmare inducing to me than many gorier monsters. One other contender is the skin-peeling-and-eating-guy in Season 6. So I'm interested now to hear what others think - what is the scariest episode for you? Who is the scariest villain? For Firefly I have to avoid any episode with an insectoid monster. She even looks away when the tarantulas show up in the opening credit sequence. I find Hush to be beautiful, not scary. I think the human (or human like) villains were the scariest villain, because you can't help but identify with them even while they do the most horrific things. Humanity is scary.

Home from the Gray Ball. Less of a "Ball" and more of a "party", with over half the membership failing to show up. Nevertheless, much fun was had. The Queen is very popular when she shows up. We are invited to attend the next event as guests rather than paid customers. Bob and I are talking over the possibilities of an RV. We could be permanently on the road going to these things and maybe ultimately making a living at it. Maybe? Do it, do it! It sounds like an awesome lifestyle. I would love to do it myself. You know, if I didn't already want to practice medicine in a small rural town in Wyoming.
