Afraid to face a true warrior – oooh, shiny! (Kinda encapsulates the wonderfulness of Buffy, doesn’t it?
Also – Dawn. Man, the ouchie-ness of Dawn. She really isn’t whining at the start here, she is completely just gently hinting at how very very lonely she is.
Hallie is actually a good guidance counselor.
Heh! Nice meta about not making friends outside your core group.
Heeee! Oh, Anya! Someone else to talk to, yay!
Love the admission of the subtext I always saw (comparing Buffy/Spike to a closeted gay relationship). Also? Love Buffy’s outfit! Damn!
Buffy – Clem – Tara – Richard! Hi! Also? Awk-ward! But how can you not love Tara and her wonderfully snarky innuendo with Spike all night? ;D
“I can hear you when you’re in the room.” Oh, man, talk about another telling line!
Oh, Spike. Lovely lovely still beat up (nice continuity and making a point there) Spike.
Incredible sister present or cry for help? Hmmmmmm?
House lock-down complete! Also? I think Richard
is too nicey normal not wanting to know about the ookies of life for you, Buffy. I mean, you couldn’t / shouldn’t hide your slayerness from a guy you were seeing.
Cramp in your pants. Ha!
Careful what you put in your mouth . . . I think I get a different subtext from this than Buffy means. Or, you know, maybe not . . .
“Places we’d rather be” is a rather telling way of putting it.
OK, the “get out get out get out” scream is whining. But by that point? I’d be ready to smack a few folks too.
Heh! I don’t think that is a skin condition! And, classic Joss – who is the one who is injured? One of the innocent bystanders. And nice use of the other innocent bystander to make us really feel the seriously unfunness of being trapped.
Scared is just normal.
Spike!! Save Xander!! (Oh, my happy slashy heart.)
And, of course, Dawn really didn’t want (or know about, really) this curse.
Tara, as usual, gets at the heart of things. “You’re not going to make her do something she doesn’t want to do.” Hmmmmm. Familiar much?
I like the realistic genuine hurt we see in Anya and Buffy about the stolen stuff.
I also really love the misdirection of Hallie “dying” – and the continuity with Anya later in season 7, both in her not dying either, but also in chiding someone about “forgetting” that it takes more than that to kill a vengeance demon.
Heh! Great villain speechifying and attempted dramatic exit and then, whoopsie. Caught in your own trap. Lovely humorous anti-climax.
