In his commentary, Drew says something along the lines of... We've been saying over and over how much Buffy trusts Spike now, so let's show it. I'm paraphrasing heavily here, but you get the idea. This is (IMO) one of the smartest things anyone at ME ever said. One of the first things you learn as an aspiring writer is "Show, don't tell." I guess Joss kinda forgot that lesson.

That's a very interesting commentary on the ep by Drew . . . hmmmmm. I don't think I've listened to that commentary - now you've got me all intriqued and wanting to.

What a freakin' great episode. KENNEDY: Tell me why you did this to her. What did you do to her?
AMY: What, to Willow? Oh, just your standard penance malediction is all.
KENNEDY: OK, and that's magic crazy talk for what?
AMY: I put a hex on her.
KENNEDY: I got that part. But why Warren? And why did it happen after we kissed?
AMY: Oh, that's rich. That must've been some kiss. You must be good.
KENNEDY: Answer me.
AMY: The hex I cast lets the victim's subconscious pick the form of their punishment. It's always better than anything I can come up with. Elegant, you know?[/color
Whoa. Paralleling the whole Angel's curse or what? Never thought about Angel's gypsy curse in quite this way. So, there is hope that Angel can someday forgive himself and break the curse.
Amy also said:
AMY: It was just a game. It's not my fault if she's losing herself.
KENNEDY: I'm gonna stop you now, you know.
AMY: Hey, I'm not the bad guy here.
This shows her inner self- the place where Amy operates, and why I've never liked her. She just doesn't get it. She's a Warren.
I loved the Spike and Buffy scenes in this episode. And Riley's message calling Spike 'assface'. lol Nice touch there.
This episode is all about doubt and trust and forgiveness. Thank Goddess Giles was not The First. Not that I doubted at all that he was real, because I trusted the writers, and I forgive them for scaring me.
Also - I really, really like Kennedy in this episode. She finally won me over.
*sigh* I miss Buffy, but at least we have her in reruns.

Oh, I like that comparison! You're very right. I hadn't thought of it that way. But we've seen Willow compared to Warren before, when she used the memory wipe spell on Tara and so on. Me too.
