Here's a question, but first some background: In Buffy's dream sequence where she asks Xander if he's coming to bed, Xander is wearing the same clothes he wore while talking to Dawn during Dawn's bath. Does that mean that conversation took place in Buffy's mind? And, the live Xander had on pjs, so does that confirm Xander concluding Dawn became a giant for attention was Buffy's mind working on the problem and getting the answer? Also, if Buffy is sleeping and dreaming, how is it she is aware of the zombies fighting the girls? She curls up in her mind and begs that it stop because it hurts too much. And, if that is the case, is she dreaming about duster man? And, is duster man Spike? Angel? And, is everyone else as geeked as I am to see Willow kick Amy's ass?

All of which I have one answer: I don't know!! Oh, except for the last question, for which the answer is YES! I don't think we're going to see the head of the person that talks to Buffy in her dream. Personally, I think it looks like Spike (I have a thing for necks too but I don't think Joss would ever split the fandom by having Spike come to her in her dream. The Bangels would not be happy, I'm sure. One person speculated that it might be Dracula because he would be more likely to use the phrase "my love." I don't know about that... Many people are not happy that it appears that Buffy needs a man(pire) to save her from Amy's spell, and I can see their point. I'm guessing Joss has some surprises up his sleeve, and I am happy to go along for the ride.

I'm enjoying everyone's speculations and questions.
Can't wait to see Willow kick Amy's ass in the next issue! (never liked Amy)
I have to reread - as I only gave it the oncethrough so far, but did Amy specifically say that the kiss had to be from a man? I didn't think she specified male or female, only it had to be a "passionate" kiss - was it?
Passion - could be anger, love, grief, etc...
Do you think Xander will think he is up to it and give it a go?
The mysterious man in the black coat and red shirt looked to me to be Spike. Was it the same person who was hovering over Buffy in the first issue?
Jeff - loved your speculation that Warren might be Amy's mysterious boyfriend. I don't know how they'll wank that, as wasn't he one of the characters that The First used to play its mindgames - and they had to be dead, right? I know Amy used him on Willow, so it seems logical that he could be involved.

Now, what about military man having the same scarrification on his chest that the "sacrifices" from episode 1 had? He may be military, but he's also deep into something else and not exactly on the military's normal radar images. Obviously, there's a connection there. This is definitely one of the questions from this issue, I think. What type of connection is there between the demon sacrifice thing we saw in the first part and the "initiative-type" military/government guys? Is it just the leader of the military guys is connected? Did he infiltrate this secret government program on behalf of his demonic buddies? Or is the connection actually official? **nods nods nods**

Ooooooh, interesting question! I guess a lot hinges on when Buffy went to sleep (or was put to sleep/coma-ized by Amy). If it was very recently, then she may well just have seen Xander earlier and projected that into the first part of her dream-thing and there may be no connection and the Dawn thing happened in RL, so to speak. But . . . . Hmmmmm. I'm going to go back and re-read/look at the panels carefully and see if I can get more of a hint. I really want to know exactly what Amy is doing. Just keeping her "not awake"? Making the natural slayer vision thing more painful? Warping the things Buffy is seeing? Sooooooooo looking forward to an Amy&Willow show down. ;D

I'm guessing Joss has some surprises up his sleeve, and I am happy to go along for the ride. Well, and also, it's Amy who is setting this up. It's her rules and her game (so far!). So, really, it's not a man is needed to save Buffy and more than a condition was set by Amy to end a spell. The kisser is really nothing more than a spell component. On the other hand, I've never seen Buffy as someone who cared about a situation having to be solved in a particular way or even by her. As long as evil is vanquished, she's cool. (Something that I think Riley didn't always understand. She really didn't care about if it was him or her, who was stronger, etc. She just wanted evil taken out of the picture and she wanted to protect people - even him, when it was appropriate to worry about his safety.) On the other other hand, we only have Amy's word for what is going on so far and who knows how much we can trust. On the other other other hand (I'm very handy!), like Karen says below, does it specify that it has to be a man?

Now watch it be Andrew and thus freak everyone out. ;D ;D ;D The previous use of Warren by Amy is an interesting element, true! Hmmmmmm. Heck, I'm still wondering if it's an overlooked ubervamp.

If and that is a big If, it is Warren, the only way they could do it is to have Amy bring him back to life, Sorta like Willow did Buffy. You are making me think that it is not Warren. But that is the only way they could do it. Because the first only appeared as those who have died. Interesting. I am at a loss on who it could be right now.

After rereading #2, I believe that the conversation that Buffy had with Xander about Dawn was a dream. I do think that Xander had that conversation with Dawn while she was bathing, tho. If you look at the comic closely, they have printed Buffy's dream sequences on black pages. The rest of the comic is on white pages. Also - it has to be a kiss of true love that awakens her. I was mistaken.

So, she's dreaming the duster guy. I think she's dreaming about Spike but it may have nothing to do with what is really gonna happen. This could just be my Spuffy heart talking, tho. ;D Also? Sometimes when we dream, we start out replaying something that really happened and it morphs into something outlandish. I'm wondering if the conversation about Dawn with Xander was a re-play of something that happened that day, which then morphed into the "Are you coming to bed" sequence.

But why would she ask Xander if he was coming to bed - did it happen between them before - or was it something she considered but was afraid to let happen because she was afraid of hurting him.
