<snip> One thing that I wonder about this scene: Does the meeting of these two characters that represent Buffy's dark side have any meaning? I think it might, I'm just not sure what. It always seemed like a kind of "passing of the torch" moment to me. This is the first time Spike really gets a load of Buffy's "dark side," and experiences any overt expression of interest from "Buffy" toward him. It ignites his interest in Buffy - starts moving it toward the surface. In doing that, Faith can now leave the "Educating Buffy" in Spike's capable hands. My feeling exactly. Yes - Angel/Faith are sort of a mirror image of Spike/Buffy. I always thought Angel & Faith would make a much hotter and more interesting couple than Angel & Buffy, but we never went there.

One thing that has always bothered me about Faith: Why did the Mayor never do anything about her being wanted by the police? I know that he was counting on ascending, but in the meantime, with Faith as his girl friday, it would have been easier to use her if she wasn't a wanted felon.
It really bugged me to watch this episode this time, to watch Faith ruin things, unknowingly. Riley told Buffy that he loved her for the first time, only it was Faith. That was great for Faith, because it changed something inside her, but her reaction to the sentiment changed Riley. Even though he later found out that it was Faith, he held back telling the real Buffy that he loved her. From this point on, he is afraid to show her his real feelings. The other point that bothered me was Forrest. It seemed like when he was asking Buffy/Faith if she really cared what he thought, that if she had said yes, then he would have been pleasantly surprised and perhaps would not have been so strongly against Buffy later in the season, leading to getting himself killed and turned into a half demon. But when Buffy/Faith said, No, I don't care, God I don't care, his face changed, it was exactly what he had been expecting, yet it seemed as if he, for a moment, hoped for a different answer, and was angry when the expected answer came. Sigh, if only....
