Heh! Was watching the X-files with Christian the other night, and Scully had just said something that went way beyond "scientifically dubious" and into "a hamster is our science advisor for this show" and Chris remarked how much more he enjoyed the show after he stopped caring about making ANY scientific sense out of what Scully said. Which is one of the benefits of being an English major watching a sci fi show—I almost never know when the stuff they're saying is absolute baloney. Proving sometimes ignorance really is bliss. I try to ignore it usually, but what he was saying about mutation was just too much for me. The thing that bothers me about this is that it perpetuates misunderstanding about scientific concepts (because some less sciency people may take the show at face value) which then leads to basing faulty arguments upon these misunderstandings.

Correct! Surely I am not the only one that had this exchange: Parents and Counselors: We really think you should take more hard sciences to balance out your education. Young Vlad: Noooooooooooooo! You'll ruin my science fiction consumption for all my years to come! Back! Back! You make me take physics and, so help me, I'll build a death ray and kill you all! Vlad Hmmm, you know, come to think of it, this could be a GREAT villain origin story! V.

Especially when you consider that many people, even most, don't know the difference between an "allele" or "mutation" and a "gene". I don't know how many times I've had to say, "All humans have the same genes as each other." To science students, yet. You just know there are some less-than-sensible folks out there getting their genetics knowledge from Heroes and the Today Show....

And as a jr. high science teacher once upon a time, it is annoying because it means first having students "unlearn" something, which is always difficult.

I'm officially annoyed now. Charlie and Hiro are so cute together! How could he just teleport out of there and not be able to get teleport anywhere afterwards? Damn. I think he was right that he can't . . . change the past in that way. Either there is some limitation on his powers or he's putting some limitation on himself and he doesn't know or something? That jumping ahead and seeing "what could be" and then coming back and trying for an alternate time line would be OK, but truly changing what has already happened is wrong/won't work? But it truly sucks. For us and for poor Hiro and Charlie.

Oh no. He thinks he's fixing them? I'm not buying this. He thinks he's performing brain surgery? Or, he's gone mad from the effect on his brain? Looks like he was a bit "whacked out" before the powers and meeting the prof and this just gave him that extra bit of psycho he needed to go headlong into serial killer history, doesn't it. I think it's a combo of him thinking he's "fixing" something that's broken in the other people and just wanting to feed his "I'm sooooo speshul" obsession.

Oh damn. Poor Hiro. He can only change the future. Sort of like the rest of us, huh? Good point! When he said - "My power is stronger than I am." That was cool, and a little chilling. **nods** He's seeing his limitations and the potential downside of his powers. But being unable to "fix" the past would help keep you . . . human, I think? Like, all of us encounter things that we wish we could go back and change, but we can't.

So, who do we think is gonna buy it? Early money among those I know is on Nathan, but I'm thinking Eden myself. Unless the "specials" can buy it separate from their "normal" alter-egos. After all, we did have an ep called "Better Halves" ;D Yes, I'm bloody-minded sometimes. Eeeep! Like Niki could die and Jessica still be there? 'Cuz that would be truly scary!!!

Meanwhile, I did all that research about Greek letters and whatnot... and he named himself after a damn watch? Not fair. #rofl1# Ahem. Poor Sara! **pets Sara** I guess you just chalk it up to "sometimes a watch is only a watch".

Archangel Gabriel? And Grey? You don't think so? That was my sarcastic voice. I'm told it sounds much like my regular voice. And if that was your sarcastic voice, then it's damn-near identical to your regular voice. #rofl1#

If Jessica succeeds in killing DL, or accidentally injures or kills Micah instead, Niki might be so horrified that she'd give up the ghost. So to speak. I'm still hoping that Niki wrests control back long enough to fire into the air, or something like that, but it's not looking hopeful. Anne, it's not even 6AM here, so don't expect logic

Anne, it's not even 6AM here, so don't expect logic Myself, I'm trying to keep in mind that the camera cut away before we saw who even fired the gun—something that also happened on BSG this year, and in that case the shooters and the targets ended up not who we were lead to believe they were. So who knows--it might have been another individual altogether firing at Jessica, rather than Jessica shooting at D. L.
