Careful. The inks are still wet. Please, it's not finished. Welcome to Part II of the Temporary Works In Progress Thread. This is the place for updates about unfinished fanfic. The first time you rec something here, please provide a brief description, including whether the fic is slash or het, a rating (e.g. PG-13), and anything else that tickles your fancy.

And here's what we had for the last week or so: Last night, Barb Cummings posted the completed Chapter 10 of her excellent Parliament of Monsters. It's at the Crypt, which I know some of us have had trouble with accessing (though I haven't). If you care to brave the wilds, it's here: www.the-crypt.net/I'll see if she has it on her site yet. Yup: sleepingjaguars.com/buffy/bufindex800x600.htmGo to stories in the panels at the left, then novels. You'll see it listed. Then choose the chapter. Ezagaaikwe's "Long and Winding Road," A lovely and moving Spike/Tara time travel fic, is up to Chapter 31, and coming to fruition: www.livejournal.com/community/spiketara/89761.htmlJulia, graceful bit of temporal manipularion, here, taking Spike through most of the twentieth century and into the twenty-first DutchBuffy has added Part 3 to Spike/Faith in New Orleans, "He Ate a Decorator Once." The link to the whole series of Spike/Faith stories is here. Two Ladies of Quality has updated Nessuno with Part 44--nearing the end now. The whole tale (to date) is here.Chapter 11 of Curious Wombat's post-NFA Dawn/Spike story "Ten Years After" is now up. At last the explanation of what Spike was doing in Columbia. www.livejournal.com/users/curiouswombat/27785.htmlLink to previous chapters included in entry. Speaker-to-Customers Chapter 6 of "The Other Side of the Tracks", the richly textured tale of William immediately following his turning and his hitherto unsuspected encounter with Arthur Conan Doyle, is now up at www.livejournal.com/users/frimfram/17155.htmlLinks to previous chapters are on the page. Speaker-to-Customers Chapter 9 of Mireille719's shambling G/X UST-fest "Sleep While I Drive." another example of an author having less control than they might want over how a story takes shape, but in this case the readers are the ones to benefit: www.livejournal.com/users/mireille719/930136.htmlJulia, I've got a major crush on this fic

Earlier, I noticed the first chapter of Reremouse's "Wilderness." Now I've found it in her LJ memories. It's still in progress, updated approximately once a week; it's currently six sections long, here. The sitch is that dehydrated, dying Xander is located and brought back from Africa by Spike, who then proceeds, with nag and snark, to try to goad him into recovering and living. Initially mute and withdrawn, Xander isn't enthusiastic about either prospect...and he has reasons. Ultimately Spike/Xander and undoubtedly not for anyone under 17, whatever that rating would be. Reremouse is half the team (with Tabaqui) whose current WIP is "No More Snakes and Ladders."

Can't imagine how I've missed recommending this; it may be the best thing Reremouse has written- a good deal more heft than most of her stuff. Julia, loosing my touch, no doubt.

And the other member of that incredibly gifted Manx household adds a chapter to her fic: www.livejournal.com/users/curiouswombat/28730.html?#cutid1Chapter 12 of the Dawn &Spike moving toward D/S "Ten Years After." Under the circumstances, they're the only ones that make sense for each other... Julia, not actually reading, you know, WRITING! So this post is a mirage...

Speaker-to-Customers has added Part 11 to his Spike/Willow tale, "Angel of the Morning." It's here.Since you read that chapter I've revised it very extensively. I wrote the whole chapter in one frantic day, and in the process I made a snap decision to veer away from my original outline and draft. On reflection I realised that this might have been a mistake and I've now rewritten it according to the original specifications. It's now here; same link as before, but the content is different. www.livejournal.com/users/speakr2customrs/82173.htmlS-t-C

www.livejournal.com/users/keswindhover/141296.html?style=mineThe above gets you to a quirky little romp (BtVS/Discworld crossover) called Dwarfbread. It's up to chap. 6 so far. You can also reach it from the livejournal/community thread. Nan included a link to the Sunnydale Herald, where I found this. Thanks, Nan! Glad you're writing again!

For those interested, Camisha's "In From the Cold" (Spike and William as two human teenagers, taken in (sort of) by Xander) has sprouted an Epilogue, here. NC-17, definitely: it involves twincest, with extras.

The Sunnydale Herald, a wonderful and useful LJ community even if it misses updates half the time (not just my updates, updates for other WIPs for which I don't actually have the writers friended in hopes of heeping my flist readable) brings us today the news that Liz Marcs has updated the Xander parallel universe fic "Water Hold me Down" with Chapter 32. Which means I now have to go back to get chapter 29, 30 and 31. www.livejournal.com/users/liz_marcs/105791.html#cutid1Julia, missing my updates is a mere ego hit; missing other people's deprives me of reading material!
