Vlad, I enjoyed reading your review. I haven't even seen the episode yet but from what you describe, it sounds clever and sharp. Knowing it comes from Tim Minear is also a confidence builder - I kinda like the shows he's been involved with as a whole. *grin*
I thought your review 'flowed' - it was a pleasure to read, and your summation intrigued me. Thanks for including the cast pictures too! That's very helpful - and I think the defective lion will be a personal favorite. Thanks Vlad for including this new entry in the Jossverse - the next generation! *laughing*

Overall, I liked the premise, and the acting and dialogue is very good. Caroline Dhavernas plays the role of Jaye very well...the right mixture of condescending, while being vulnerable. She really needs to get out of retail, though. My only difficulty with the show was her overall downbeat way of looking at things. Jaye is not an easy person to like...on the plus side, the dialogue is smart and often funny. Vlad, you did a nice job summarizing this episode without giving it all away. That's not an easy thing with a pilot episode. Kudos.

Thanks for getting the ball rolling with a review about "Wonderfalls". I thought it was witty and different. I enjoyed the show and I'm going to enjoy watching Jaye's development.
The language was a little crass (but I like crass) - which surprised me that it made it thru the current filters. "Poor bitch" to describe the UPS man was hilarious, as was the way Jaye looked right thru him.
Those talking inanimates were a great way to shake her up and get her to interact and actually "notice" the people around her.
Good stuff and great insights, Vlad. Thank you!

Thank you, Vlad - nice work . . . not just on the review, but on choosing something to allow the site to branch out and have options should the unthinkable happen. You have made it sound interesting, and I am going to try to catch the re-broadcast of the show. EDIT: I hope you sent this link to buffy.nu, etc., just as you do Nan's reviews! It deserves a look-see by a wider audience.

Hey Vlad, Whew! So glad you ignored my comments on reviews. Nice job--what you don't wear enough hats and have enough work to keep you busy? I'll definitely watch it again. We'll see how they do with character development. (Both Jaye and the supporting cast.) I did have some desire to ask her "What's your childhood trauma?" Or send her to a third world country for a month.

Well done, Vlad! If I hadn't already watched the episode, I'd certainly want to now.

Thanks, Vlad! Based on your review, and your telling that TM is still giving gold, I will watch tonight at 9.
By the way, used to live in Buffalo, so I will be interested in seeing how The Falls are presented.

A couple of funnies:
"Your ass is ringing." (Jaye to the cute bartender, Eric, who didn't want to turn it on vibrator - but didn't answer it anymore anyway because of a BAD honeymoon experience. So why have it on at all? Hmmmm....)
Jaye - "I can be hardly dissatisfied without hardly working at it at all."
Mahandra (best friend to Jaye): "You're spiteful in the way the definition of spiteful doesn't quite prepare you for."

I did think the show had promise, but can't really tell at this point whether it will succeed in "grabbing" me or not. I'll give it a try, and let the chips fall where they may (surrender to destiny!).

I rewatched "Wax Lion" tonight. It was like I was seeing the episode for the first time. Really, really loved the way the series set up was done.

I really like the visual creativity, animating the lampshade and so forth. And the slide changes between scenes.
And thanks to Princess, Niagara has remained an enchanted wonderland despite a hundred years of commercial development. Hee!
Hey it's That Guy! And Lee Pace!
Bartender looks a little like matthew Fox, and co-worker looks a little like Zach from Bones.
Life can be sort of peaceful if you stop struggling. It's kind of like drowning that way.
