I've just been on the phone with Diane, who is on her way home from the service. She is completely exhausted and will post her thoughts/experiences later when she's had time to rest and recover.
I told her we were all thinking of her today and that seemed to cheer her, so...thanks everyone who sent their thoughts her way.

So many beautiful words have been written about Patti since that terrible night when we all learned what had happened to her, that I don't know what to say without appearing redundant.
I cannot profess to have known Patti well. I never met her in person and never had a voice to voice conversation with her. But, I did have a few, precious IM conversations with her and some e-mail trades.
All that I really know about Patti came from the few IMs/e-mails, months of lurking around the board and my time as an active talker. What I know is that Patti was a kind, loving, intelligent, amazing woman with a generosity of spirit that will be hard to match.
The last communication I had with her was regarding my location on the S'cubie map. As usual, I failed to mention important facts, and forgot to tell anyone that I am located in southeast Michigan, when providing my profile information post ascension.
Patti, who maintained the map placed my locale in northern lower Michigan. I IM'd her about it and after discussing my lapse in information sharing, in the kindest way, she said she would re-located me when she got some time. Being in no hurry, and not really concerned about it, I told her that there was no rush and if it never got done, then well, hey, I've moved and I was kind of liking northern lower Michigan anyway!
She responded LOL and that was the last I ever heard from Patti. She did not post to the board much after that.
I will be forever grateful that we shared a final chuckle together and that she made me feel so welcome and encouraged me to participate in all your reindeer games.
I liked the woman and I will miss her around here, but I truly believe that she is still here in spirit, embracing the board and its myriad members. We will all feel her love and affection and hear her "voice" everytime we open our minds and hearts. I think she is happy to know that she will still be here with us, forever.
Thank you, Patti, just for being you and gracing this world with your illumination and love. RIP, love and don't forget to visit often.

If you happened to notice we had a new member, Dan, register yesterday. As is my habit, I sent a quick hello and welcome IM and received this back this morning.
I knew you would all be interested:

I knew you would all be interested: From Patti's Houston friend, Dan:Thank you, Sue. I'm glad that Dan and Charles were finally contacted. Vlad was very concerned, and more than a little frustrated because he didn't know their last names, only that Patti had spoken often and fondly of their get-togethers. And, Dan, if you're lurking today, thank you very much for joining and for your comforting words. I hope you feel like staying. Shan

It means a lot to hear from him and to know he cared enough to come let us know.

I knew you would all be interested: From Patti's Houston friend, Dan: It is so great to know, from someone who saw first hand, that Patti's involvement in the S3 was a great source of joy to her, in what turned out to be her last few years. Thanks to Dan for telling you about this Sue, and thanks to you for sharing it with all of us. By the way: I got 100% credit on the flowers. They offered 50% at first, but I refused to be OK with that. Why should we pay anything, for flowers that get to the funeral home after the deceased and family are gone? I would never have agreed to such a deal upfront (they'll get there too late, but hey, 50% off!), and I wasn't about to agree to it after the fact. SO - 100% of what I collect will go to the ADA! I was upset about the screw-up, and I still am, but that isn't such a bad result.

I'm happy enough that our contributions will go to the ADA and I'm sure Patti would be as well. Through Diane's interactions, we now know that Patti's family were well aware of - and touched by - what we all meant to each other. Even without the flowers. Something good will come of it, even if it's not what you planned. (((Spring)))

Dan - if you are reading this, I hope you stick around and take the time to experience the amazing work that Patti was so much a part of creating. The S3 website and board.

Hi all - This is Patti's brother Cal. I wish there was a better way to post this message, and I know how upsetting this must be to all of you who loved her so much, but I need to make sure you all know how much I love you, and how much you have done for our family. I would have contacted you sooner, but I just could not do it... I have been reading through the chain of events as you overcame challenge after challenge to come to the aid of one you loved so much, and it is the most moving tribute I can even imagine. Thank you from the bottom of my heart - you will stay in our prayers forever. Vlad - thank you especially for adding so much happiness to my little sister's life. And thank you Diane for the most beautiful eulogy I have ever heard, and one that went right to the essence of Patti. My family and I can never repay you for the love you have shown. Cal Thompson

We're just happy that Diane was able to be there to represent us (tip of the iceberg of course, when it comes to everyone who loved her and how deeply). Adding happiness was certainly a two-way street. Sue
