I'm actually ok. I've buried myself in fanfic writing. Thank God I've started doing that; without it I'd be a mess. In a strange sort of way the story makes me feel like the show is still on for me, if that makes any sense.
The one thing I haven't done is read Matthew's review over on ScoopMe. The pain I felt over the last couple of months would just come flooding back. That's not a criticism of his writing; actually he's brilliant and deeply moving.
I'm just not sure I can handle deeply moving right now. Just looking at Sarah's picture gives me twinges in my stomach.

Of course, I believe one of our busy beavers has (or is) archiving it, so maybe you will be able ot read it later on, when the ache won't be as bad.

I've been trying to get onto ScoopMe for about the last hour and a half and haven't been able to. I do not infer dire things, I just report.
At least, if you're having trouble in this regard, you can conclude it's not just you.

Nan - I cannot get on either. Would they have gone off without telling anyone?

At least, if you're having trouble in this regard, you can conclude it's not just you. Here we go again. Is ScoopMe taking the weekends off now? If they aren't going to be up until Monday, the answer is yes. Because they were down all last weekend as well. Could be worse -- we could not have the proboard in place already. More and more it's looking like time to abandon ScoopMe and come over to this board fulltime. ScoopMe is getting too unstable in its last days.

Rae:
I have gotten overwhelmed with other things, and have not completed my last "Part 7" assignment.
HOWEVER, assuming ScoopMe comes up again, I WILL complete it next week.
Many thanks to KERRIE for her discovery that the + signs did not have to be opened!

I have been thinking about Buffy and Angel and, although I still hate the couple, I think they might be more soul-mates than Spike and Buffy. It seems that before they were started down the super-power life they were the type of people who would get together (we're talking soul-mates so timing wouldn't be an issue). She was a vain, shallow cheer-leader and he was the 'bad boy' sowing his wild oats. Please note that at some fundamental level they were both 'cool'. Once 'chosen' (to be good) they both resisted their calling and frequently seem brood over what they have lost. Contrast with Spike who was uncool before being vested with superpowers (i.e. not Buffy's type) and while upset about the specifics of his actions does not brood to any great degree, under the circumstances. If I believed in soul-mates (and I don't), I would think that Buffy and Spike are not soul-mates. He is too good for her and has always been too good for her!
End of thought.

Well, I see where you are coming from, sort of - except I don't see Angel as a bad-boy sowing his wild oats with Buffy. Angel is much more the "quarterback who gets the girls", and Spike is more the "geek/outsider." And Buffy - well, she's a "cheerleader type" in a way, the type you expect, in HS anyhow, to want the quarterback. BUT look who her best friends ended up being - Xander & Willow. So . . . well, it's a pretty complicated picture. I only "believe in soulmates" in the sense that I do believe there are people who are "right" for you, and people who aren't. People you click with instantly, people who grow on you, people you're never reallly going to understand, etc. - romance-wise, or otherwise. But I don't believe in the "there's only 1 person in all the world for you" idea. And I especially don't believe you get that right in High School. And though Joss did it very gently and with some sensitivity to fans who love B/A, I think that was just the message we got in Chosen.

I don't believe in just one person out there for every one, but I do believe in soulmates in the sense that there are people out there who complete us as individuals better than others. Spike offered Buffy a different type of relationship at a different point in her life. Not necessarily better or worse than what Angel offered, just different. I do think Buffy was in love with Angel whereas she wasn't with Spike, but at the same time, I think the relationship with Spike was more of a slow burn by comparision, and that given time, she might have woke up one day and found herself in love with Spike and wondering how it happened. They were drawing closer day by day, whereas with Angel, all the dominoes seemed to just fall at once. Again, not necessarily better or worse, just different. At the time Spike gave himself in the Hellmouth, she was still cookie dough, though -- her words to Spike were sort of her way of saying "thank you" to him for all he'd done and all he was doing, but they didn't mean the same as what Spike meant when he said it to her. But that doesn't mean that one day, they couldn't have. There are those people that we instantly fall for (Angel), those we know we'll never fall for (Xander), and those who we can see there's potential but we aren't there yet (Spike). As for what Buffy told Angel, about sometimes thinking about the future and making it sound as if who she thought about was in deed Angel, I think we heard that right. Angel was Buffy's first love, and whether she's ready to be with him or not, he does hold added status for that very reason. I'm sure every so often the romantic side of Buffy probably wonders "what if". It isn't a statement that she will end up with Angel, just that there is a part of her that still has that high school love running strong, so he gets added status and she asks, "what if". There are a lot of times I think about various exes, and ask myself, "what if", but in the end, I realize each of those relationships broke up for a reason and I'm better off without them -- yet, the romantic in me remembers only the good times, and asks, "what if". To put it in perspective, we also saw Buffy doing some "what if" when Riley showed up last season; there was a part of her that wanted to try things again with him. If Sam wasn't in the picture, she'd probably have put some real pressure on Riley, but then she was needier then. She's stronger now; not fully healed, but recognizing her own neediness. And yeah, she probably sometimes thinks of Riley and asks, "what if" even now. Same as she does with Angel, and same as she does with Spike. Of course, when she was with Angel, that's who her romantic side was focused on.
