Becoming The Slayer changed Buffy. She started hanging out with dorks. She became broody: thinking more talking less. Does that mean her soul fundamentally changed? To me it seems a bit likethe situation Jane Austin describes in Persuasion. The light-hearted, unreflective Louisa Musgrove (I think) has an accident and becomes a different person. Moreover, the new person that she becomes is compatible with a broody poet-loving thinker. (I can't remember the exact description). The question that remains is that has Louisa fundamentally changed in nature (i.e. her soul) or has she simply taken a different path and Benwick (I think that is the name of the thinker) would always have been a potential soul-mate. Am I making any sense at all? I hope you've read the book so that you at least have some idea what I mean.
What's my point? How does this relate to my first post? The answer I guess is that if soul's are cookie dough there is only so much change possible before it ceases to be cookie dough and starts being something else. To become Spike's soul-mate did/does Buffy need to change her dough into something else or is she just more baked, like Dave suggests? I think she might have to change into something else. I guess we wouldn't know until she stops being the Slayer, so it is possibly a moot point.
Good night everbody. I'm sleepy and I have to work tomorrow morning. Don't post too much today!

David,I totally agree with you. Teenaged first loves are powerful because it is the first time you feel that way and the first time you feel like doing things... Since my first love was was killed in Vietnam I've done a lot of what ifs. Buffy will certainly do that regarding Angel. Riley is the safe love that many of us have had and because they are willing to do everything for us, we tend to think of them as a door mat and therefore we may not appreciate them until they're gone. Spike is the bad boy that entices us and the one that frightens us because of his badness and because of our badness when we are with him. Each one helps us grow into our adult self. Usually we don't wind up with any of them. We choose someone totally different, who gets the benefit of what we have learned from the others.

Alright, adding my two cents in before I have to go to a deposition. We've talked a lot about who is best for Buffy, who she has/had the best relationship with. Some of us say Bangel all the way, some of us are Spuffy is the best. Now, we all know where my allegiance lies. But.....do we really know who is best for Buffy? Honestly? As Buffy herself said, she's cookie dough - she's not yet complete. So, isn't it hard to say who she is a better match with because of this very fact? Because she is "incomplete"? Yes, I am a Bangel but I also see the good in Spuffy and can recognize that perhaps they have a healthier relationship than B/A. Doesn't mean I'm not still rooting for B/A though. Back to my question - can we really know RIGHT NOW who is best for Buffy? Is that even feasible? To know who is right for her because she is still cookie dough and she doesn't even know who SHE is. Just some thoughts that have been bouncing around in my brain. Can't believe ScoopMe is down!!! Are we going to be able to get everything archived? -L

OK - I got inspired by Patti & Gail - here's my top ten ways Spike will annoy Angel:
10) Hides hair gel at every opportunity.
9) Invites VHISN faculty and staff in to study Angel’s anatomy while he’s asleep.
8) Finds Angel’s closet of “skinny clothes” and starts wearing them, even though Angel insists he’ll get back into them someday.
7) Teaches Gunn & Wesley the fine art of using hand gestures to subtly direct female eyes toward their zippers.
6) Snickers whenever Angel turns on his table lamp.
5) Keeps “accidentally” leaving the detailed journal he kept in Season 6 laying around, open to the “Behind the DoubleMeat Palace” entry.
4) Purposely half-bakes all the cookies.
3) Puts up a motivational “foes defeated single-handedly” board for the Fang Gang and includes Ubervamps, so it shows: Angel: 3,764; Fred: 32; Wesley: 137; Gunn: 58; Spike: 334,891!!
2) Keeps giving Angel’s cell phone number to Dru.
1) Takes a room next to Angel’s and has noisy sex often, yelling “Touchdown!!” as appropriate.

That's exactly the message Buffy is trying to give Angel, and the one that Spike understands when he says "No you don't." Buffy wants to KNOW who she is first, before she hooks up with anyone. And good for her.

I highlighted the ones that had me laughing out loud (thank goodness I wasn't drinking anything when I read this!). Now I have some pleasant thoughts to take to this deposition I have to go in about 15 minutes. Although.....we're deposing the witness so I have to ask all the questions - crap! Now I'm going to have thoughts of Spike and Angel wrestling around in my head along with the important questions I have to ask. Damn! Spring made me laugh, Spring made me laugh, la la la la....Spring made me laugh![/b][/color] See y'all in a few hours! -L

It's me, too. Perhaps they're taking the weekend off to avoid the impending sunstorm.
"It's the end of the world."
I guess I'll be learning to use this board this weekend - it's a good thing you Scubies think ahead, or we'd all explode from pent-up chat.
Catch you all later,
Anne

Before I forget... I wasn't around for the late night posting party last night but I did want to defend Rob and his AMAZING stamina.
To "borrow" Patti's line... This one time, in Part 30 (and 29)? Rob proved he has GRRRREAT stamina! So, let know one question it... ;D

#10. Touchdown!
Spring made me laugh so hard that, had I still been drinking my coffee, it would have come out of my nose! What a way to start the day. Has Rob seen this yet?
And what's the deal with ScoopMe? It's a relief to know I'm not alone in my lack of access but there were some interesting conversations going on over there that I wanted to check up on. Sigh. And I have class all weekend so if it does come back up, I'll have millions of posts to wade through - especially if tonight is like last night, you party people!

Today, I'm taking Lee's place in the "Procrastinate Doing Work As Long As Possible" play. I was going to get all caught up on archiving today. So naturally, in their continuing effort to thwart my every archiving effort, ScoopMe is down. Leaving me to sing: Oh where, oh where has my ScoopMe gone? Oh where, oh where can it be? With its time cut short and its posts so long,
Oh where, oh where can it be?

Oh where, oh where can it be?Rae - I like, I like! I'm so MAD right now I could spit nails! We've had this deposition scheduled for weeks now and what does the defense attorney do? HE CANCELS IT!!!! Grr, argh!!! This deposition wasn't extremely important but still. This defense attorney has done this before - wait until the last minute (literally) to cancel it. Well, now my morning is free so that's good. Ohmigod! I am so mad!!! Rae - did you get my email about Season 3 Angel reviews? They are done now but I haven't sent them to Vlad because I still haven't heard back from him about how he wants me to send it. I might just go ahead and send it. As soon as ScoopMe comes back up, I'll start Season 2 reviews (unless you've already done so). I'm going to update the archive list right now. -L (although I'm still )

Are all of the boards on Central Time, or just this particular strain?
