I too have been rewatching my Angel tapes. I'm finishing up season 3. I've been crying through several because of the false prophecy and the kidnapping of Connor. DB's portrayal of despair at his child's loss is riveting. It was so sad to see the "family" torn apart because of Wesley's actions. It was heartbreaking to see how Wesley feels about what he did and terrifying to see Angel's rage when he tries to kill him.
I agree - Angel has grown more comfortable in the human world with the help of Cordelia and the rest of his "family." I rewatched the episode where Skip tries to get Cordelia to take a different path several times trying to see if there is any hint of evil PTBs that Skip talked about in Season 4. There is no obvious clue that evil will be loosed onto the world and that Cordelia will be a major evil player.
Angel may still be Angelus deep inside, but he is a champion outside. I don't know if I'd be able to function after all his losses.

I forgot - in Season 3, Wolfram & Hart are seriously evil and out to destroy Angel - they want to bring forth Angelus to work with them. I don't know how Angel can have any connection with them after all that they did to him over the previous seasons.
I remember what Angel said to Faith about getting a taste for evil and how it would consume her. How is he going to stay away from evil when W&H is the mecca of evil beings?

Chapter 22 (of what I expect to be a total of 24 chapters) of Enemy of My Enemy is now off to the sites. It will probably be posted there sometime tomorrow.
I have sent all chapters to date to our S3 site and I'm sure when Vlad has time, they'll be posted there.

I think a case could be made that Angel has tried to suppress his vampire nature and be, insofar as possible, entirely human whereas Spike, after his resouling, has gradually gravitated more to the vampire side of things.
This isn't definitive because most of the time after his resouling, Spike was some combination of crazy and/or constrained--imprisoned by the First or in chains someplace in Casa Summers. So he didn't have a whole lot of choice about what kind of lifestyle he manifested. But his reclamation of the duster (at Buffy's insistence) and his "smelling Buffy out" to locate her after she'd been expelled from the household both emphasize the vampire side of things in contrast to what it would seem likely Angel would have done under the same circumstances. So does his confrontation with Robin Wood, in which Spike validates his own actions in his fight with Nicki Wood: accepts them rather than being in any way apologetic for them or expressing regret or guilt about them, as I think Angel would have done about any past death he'd caused.
As I said, it's not a clear contrast--we have what now: 5 years (that we've seen) of Angel operating on his own since his resoulment (which of course happened a century ago, but we got only glimpses of the intervening time), when he's been in a position to make his own choices, and only a few weeks for Spike. Still, there's enough evidence that I can at least conjecture about the contrasting tendencies.
Now Angel's a big corporate magnate with Wolfram & Hart and Spike will be...what? I DO hope he's still a vampire when next we see him!

I agree that Angel has been suppressing his demon side. I think of a cork in a bottle and get nervous especially working at/with/for the mindgame playing employees at W&H. I just can't imagine why the senior partners would hand over the LA office unless they hope to continue W&H's goal of turning Angel dark.
I too hope Spike returns as a vampire. In an Angel novel I recently read, Spike has to save Angel. Since Spike is ensouled and because of his sacrifice in Sunnydale would he be a champion? Saving Angel would make for a great episode and it would only increase the tension between our 2 favorite vampires.

I've checked in off and on today while working on a paper and I've noticed some funky things going on with the moving avatars. For a few hours, all of the moving signature avatars were gone. Now, they're back but the entire page of posts is loading in a slow, herky-jerky fashion. Is anyone else noticing this? And I do have a cable modem with broadband so load speed usually isn't a problem.
On another note, everyone who has been listening to Radio Buffy today might want to go check out Daniel's latest Opinion piece over at slayage.com as it's all about the role of music in BtVS.

On my screen all of the pictures are gone now. They were there earlier today. When I first read your post, Lori, a moment ago, all the pics were there. Then they vanished. I think Betsy L's website must have gone unavailable for a moment, because that's where the animated GIF avatars are located and linked to. As soon as her internet connection comes back, the pics will be back, I think. A minute later: the pictures are back.

Cue the Twilight Zone music... Well, I'm sure they'll be back eventually. I really need to find out how to store my own images!
And, a few seconds later, here they are again, just like gophers popping in and out of their holes (notice, I did NOT use the animal-beginning-with-b!)

I begin to suspect that showing the moving avatars is putting too much strain on the board, regardless of people's individual internet connection method, modem, computer and so forth. I suspect there's just too much data, especially as we go to 500 or so posts per topic, for the server to handle. So I'll go back to a still avatar and see if that helps things any. Perhaps those who have adopted the lovely moving avatars might also change back to let us see if the problem vanishes.

Could be on the S3 server end, or could be on each of our ends. Altho, I'm no expert. I think my band width is pretty scanty, and right now I can't see all the pretty moving avatars, but I could earlier in the day with no problem. With only a few people on right now (you and me, Nan?), I doubt the problem is on the S3 server end (which is maybe wishful thinking, since I love the moving avatars - but I also love your Blue-Eyed Spike, Nan). Well, back to watching "Planet of the Apes". First time I;ve seen it on TV with nothing cut out of it. It makes such a difference! It makes me wonder I even watch most movies they show on TV; the way they ususally hack them up.

Yeah, I signed on at 9:15 (central) expecting lots of pages, but it's been a quiet day. Saw Nan's gorgeous blue-eyed Spike avatar and Betsy's hunky Angel (yeah, the moving ones are kinda nifty, but since I'm not part of the MTV generation I gotta say, I LOVE blue-eyed Spike standing still so I can just gaze.) Anyway, by the time I moved to the next page Nan's and Betsy's and Lori's had all disappeared, but I could still see Anne D. and Becky. Then, another minute and no Anne D. Really, really strange. Wonder if mine can be seen? Edit: Nope, can't even see my own Giles. Think they will all reappear magically. I guess I'm buying into the idea that it's a problem with Betsy's site, since she and Nan and I all get ours from her. Are we watching CWDP this Tuesday? Sue

Here, and gone again... I can see some of them, some of the time. Strange Phenomena, indeed.
I went over to the avatar and picture threads, just out of idle curiosity. None of the pages I looked at loaded completely - one post would show the avatar and pictures, the next would not. Since Betsy is responsible for most, if not all, of Avatar Alley, that's just weird.
There also doesn't seem to be a direct correlation between the moving avatars and display problems. My avatar is coming and going just as randomly as the moving ones, which is, I'm guessing, because it is also stored by Betsy.
It would be interesting to do a detailed study of exactly which avatars and pictures are not displaying at a given time, but it's probably also a complete waste of time. Maybe the Technopagans can figure it out. Of course, by Monday the whole problem will probably have fixed itself.
It's all very confusing. My brain hurts.

For me, (almost) all the pics are gone again, even the still ones--that are linked to Betsy's site. I still wonder if we have a break of connection between here and Betsy's Internet Service Provider, whatever it be. Why do we have no Technopagans to tell us the answers we need? #89 below is also mine; apparently between one post and another, I got logged out and therefore became a mysterious guest!

Now the board is not allowing me to modify my own posts!
I can see Becky's and Sandy's avatars, neither of which is linked to Betsy's site. One is Rae's site, the other is one I didn't recognize.
Some kind of meltdown in progress, it seems....
