Yesterday when my girlfriends were over, we watched Dick with Michelle Williams and Kirsten Dunst. They played teenagers in the 70's and their involvement with the whole Watergate scandal. The movies is hilarious. Anyway, while watching it there was one scene in the while the girls were in the White House and there were some Secret Service Agents. All of a sudden I yelled out "There's Groo". It was Mark Lutz. He had no dialogue, but it was funny seeing him in this movie as I never recognized him before. Not sure when the movie was made. Will have to check the back of the box. Funny, right after I read this I was surfing channels on the TV and Lila was falling off a cliff in Spy Hard! Angel alumni sighting!

Where you been, what you been doing, what do you think of the Angel season so far? Is all well with you? It's kind of quiet on the board today, so it's a good time to bring us up to speed on how things are with you, if you want to.

We have a winner and it makes me feel pleased but very uncomfortable. At your various award shows, rarely is the presenter a nominee or the actual winner.
With that said, I want to thank everyone who participated in the Week 5 "Picture of the Week" contest, whether it be nominations or voting. Officially, my nomination The Road to Hades won the event, but I think the "win" goes to the entire Soulful Spike Society. The submission was part of a larger riff involving more than jsut this S'cubie. Dave's turn of phrase inspired Diane who created that hilarious song and dance number which, in turn, inspired me to create that "faux" movie poster. And those were just the direct participates...many others had delightful, fun, snarky coments to make during these exhanges. This folks, was sheer old time S'cubie-ism. So thank you for the vote and please understand it was more than jsut me.
On that note I would like to post here Diane's COMPLETE and UNABRIDGED "The Road to Hades":
THE ROAD TO HADES written by Diane U.
MUSIC swells through overture and CURTAIN rises revealing background of infernal regions with chorus girls dressed as little demons. The dancers are wearing sequins, horns, tails and little else and carrying sharpened tridents. NOTE: During the number the girls occasionally prod our heroes with their tridents.
ANGEL and SPIKE, are revealed center stage in spotlight. Both are in black with long leather dusters, straw hats and canes. CUE: Music intro, ANGEL and Spike follow with a buck & wing dance step, a few fancy turns, a cane toss and...
BOTH (singing): "We're off on the Road to Hades together we're magnets for ladies.
ANGEL(sings): "I'm leading the team... SPIKE (sings): "You do. In your dreams..."
BOTH (singing): "We're off on our way down to Hell What we'll do there is hard to tell..."
SPIKE (sings): “I died to save the world…” ANGEL (sings): “You lied to get the girl…”
(SPIKE glares at him, but ANGEL doesn’t pause)
ANGEL (sings): “What’s a souled vamp to do?” SPIKE (sings): “Without your hair goo?” ANGEL (sings pointedly at SPIKE): “Just a century-old pup!” SPIKE (sings just as pointedly): “’least my hair don’t go UP!”
(ANGEL glares back, but continues, THE FOLLOWING IS CONDUCTED WHILE BOTH SOFT SHOE ACROSS THE STAGE)
ANGEL (spoken): "Speaking of hair, tell me Spike, why DO you like that glow in the dark look?" SPIKE (spoken): "It's easier for Buffy to find me at night..." (DRUM, rim shot, and both return to CENTER STAGE)
BOTH (singing): "The Nether Region is calling our name, We'll answer our way (they vamp out) but we're going to be game...
“Just two vamps on the Road to be Damned…” SPIKE (singing): "I’m the straight one and he is the ham…”
(BOTH resume soft shoe dance and return to human face.)
SPIKE (spoken): "Say Angel, when Darla first turned you, did it hurt?" ANGEL (spoken): "Of course it did, and baby it hurt so goo-o-o-od!" (DRUM, rim shot) (pause) ANGEL (spoken): “Say Spike, when Glory tortured you, did it hurt? SPIKE (spoken): “Of course it did, and baby it hurt baa-a-a-a-d! (Musical bridge and BOTH return to CENTER STAGE)
BOTH (singing): "We're off on the Road to Hades and it isn't that far to go. "We're shuffling this coil, We'll do it in stoyle…” (DEAD STOP, pause, look at each other)
SPIKE (spoken): Bad Lyric. ANGEL (spoken): Yeah. Writers must be having an off day. Big finish?" SPIKE (spoken): Nah. Sod this. (Stalks off. Angel shugs at the audience and follows. MUSIC dribbles to a discordant halt and confused DANCERS mill about unsure whether to exit or not.)
(CURTAIN)
Way ta go Diane! I swear it gets funnier everytime I read it.
Don't forget to submit you nomination for Week #6, already underway!

Nothing like punting away a football to a team that you haven't stopped all night with 6 minutes left in the game. I could understand depending on the defense normally...but they'd been torched all night long. I knew we were going to lose at that moment. Bright side? The season's half over...and we have a 2 game lead with an identical divisional record. We're still in the driver's seat...and Bennett looks like he'll be100% once he gets into game shape. If the defensive line manages to find a pulse when the opponent runs the ball, we might have a shot to do some damage in the playoffs. Ok, I can see Patti's eyes glazing over from here. Better dispense with the football talk.

Yeah, but I am not so nice, and I am having an insomniac night, and I wanna say: Who saw my Buckeyes[/color] win 21 - 20 against Penn State this weekend? They're back in the groove - you know, the "pull it out in the last second by some miracle" groove. I know, I know, - they win ugly and they win by the skin-of-their-teeth ALL the time. They don't have the talent of this team and that team - heard that last year. But they have a talent for winning, what else do you really need?

MU hahahaha!!!! Ahem. Sorry.

Just got in a little while from visiting the third hellmouth, the one in Nashville. Too tired to really report much in detail, but the demonic activity is rife there. In just two days and one short evening, I came in contact with two very powerful female vampires (one of which was insane), two nerds bent on taking over the world, a snake demon worshiped by a college fraternity, and a Frankenstein-like robot-demon-human hybrid built by the government. But I had help on my side -- a one-eyed construction worker, a technopagan (or it might have been one of the aforementioned female vampires posing as a techopagan, or even The First Evil itself), and a very friendly demon with really saggy skin and a penchent for kitten poker. And there was even a fellow S'cubie in the mix. Needless to say, I survived the experience, and it appears that we were successful, because at last report all evil entities we encountered have departed the Nashville area.
I will, of course, provide a complete report of my experiences to Vlad, including photographs of nearly every encounter (including the evening with the fellow S'cubie). I also received prophesies from the Powers That Be regarding future events that are destined to happen at a particular evil law firm in Los Angeles in the near future; those will be summed up in a seperate report, filed in the proper place.
But for now, I must slumber. It tires one out to be a rogue demon hunter, but definitely has it's rewards!

Vlad is not the only Kennedy fan. I liked her too. And Conner. I told one or two Australian BtVS watchers about the on-line reaction to Kennedy and they were aghast. She seemed nice enough to them. So, in summary, anyone who does not like Kennedy is weird and not the other way around. Ok, call me weird but I found her arrogant. I saw no chemistry between her and Willow that was not dictated by the plot. In essence, I feel she was sleeping her way to the top. Let me be clear, though, that I just dislike the character. In everything I've read and seen, Iyari Limon seems to be a nice person. But Kennedy? Do I even have to say, "tongue stud - ewww?"

There was a discussion a thread or so ago about the contents of the various "Buffy" CDs, thanks to the madly typing fingers of Dave. His list of the songs on "Radio Sunnydale" was quite a bit different from the UK version. For those of you who are interested, it might be worth ordering the UK CD from amazon.co.uk. Anyway, here's what's on my copy:
Buffy Main Title Theme: The Breeders Bohemian Like You: The Dandy Warhols Everybody Got Their Something: Nikka Costa Dead Guys with Bombs (score): Christophe Beck Key: Dévics Sound of the Revolution: Lunatic Calm Ballad for Dead Friends: Dashboard Prophets Blue: Angie Hart Pavlov's Bell: Aimee Mann That Kind of Love: Alison Krauss Sink or Float: Aberdeen Still Life: Patty Medina Black Cat Bone: Laika Just as Nice: Man of the Year I Can't Take My Eyes Off of You: Melanie Doane The Sun Keeps Shining on Me: Fonda Run Away: Halo Friendlies Summerbreeze: Emiliana Torrini Sugar Water: Cibo Matto Final Fight (score): Rob Duncan Buffy Main Title Theme: Nerf Herder
I'm not terribly impressed with the liner notes because I'd like to know specifically which song goes with which episode for those I can't remember. And where is Michelle Branch? But what a treat to hear "Dead Guys with Bombs." I sat straight up and said, "The Zeppo!" and then had to spend the next ten minutes explaining to Halley what a Zeppo is. Ah, Xander.

I'd be curious to know why there are so many songs on the UK version that aren't on the US release. The "Buffy Main Title Theme" as performed by Nerf Herder is on the first US release, so that one I understand -- no point duplicating. And I realize that there are times that compilations can't get the record companies to authorize release in one country while they have permission to release in another; Cibo Matto's label might have wanted a bunch more cash for the US release of "Sugar Water" than they wanted for the UK version. But "Dead Guys With Bombs" -- that's score, and therefore should be owned by Mutant Enemy, so someone want to explain why that's never been released in the states?
