Has anyone heard from LeeH. She hasn't been on the board for the past two days. Hope Josh's dad hasn't taken a turn for the worse.

The weekend showings of Angel and Buffy are syndicated; they're on the WB in the Seattle area, for instance. Julia, wondering where Pt 74 has gotten to and hoping no-one tried to say anything to me there Pt. 74 got locked and consequently moved lower on the main page. No one should have been talking to you there, recently, anyway. But it's still there, if you wanna check.

I wasn't too upset about the Cincinatti win. I just kept telling myself if they had lost the 1st game and were 9-1 after that game, I'd be thrilled, so I'm still gonna be thrilled. I tried to post this, but lost it. I'm such a poor loser that I tend to throw things in the heat of the moment. I was throwing things last week. 9-1 is good, 10-1 is better ;D

Grrr-Arrrgh - lost a post when I tried to post on the unbeknownst to me closed part 74 because it had closed whilst I was typing my post. Backing up from the error message didn't return me to the message window. It took me too long and it's too late now to try to re-write it.
Oh well.
The very much abridged, Readers Digest version is that:
* I don't think the bloodline of the siring vampire influences the intellectual and perceptual abilities of the new vamp.
* I can believe that bloodline does have a bearing on all vampire properties such as super strength, stamina and healing.
* I can believe that age increases a vampire's resistance to immolation by sunlight; the older the vamp the more seconds they have to get out of the sunlight before going up in flames. But I think the difference must be fairly slight.
* I believe that the departure of the soul and the introduction of the demon eliminates an internal moral compass while instilling the vampire with an appetite for blood and a perspective of viewing humans as food and playthings.
* I believe that a vampire's intellectual and perceptual abilities are entirely dependent upon the former human's own potential and the growth of that potential with the loss of inhibitions and the acquisition of age and experience. In the case of William, I believe he never lacked for intelligence (despite what JM says) and that he always had the potential for the piercing insight that we so closely identify with Spike. It's just that his youth & inexperience, inhibitions, insecurities, the manners & mores of his time and class, and the romanticism through which he viewed the world all acted to repress this quality.
As a vampire, in the absence of his former inhibitions and the abandonment of the manners and mores with which he'd governed his behavior, he cultivated his insight and was not afraid to aim it against others as a weapon to use to support his his growing bravado, along with his new and improving fighting skills.
* I know that Nan disagrees. I happily suspend my own disbelief and adopt Nan's perspectives instead every time I begin to read a new installment of her absorbing fanfic sequel, BIL. It's well worth it to enjoy her terrifically well written, complex and richly layered unfolding story.

Len wrote: IIRC, the Beast was searching for the totems of the Ra-tet, a mystical order of five enormously powerful beings who are "totems", or symbolic manifestations of the Egyptian sun god, Ra. The totems carried talismans in each of their bodies, so I believe he was looking for the talisman, I presume he knew it was somewhere in W&H, and was checking to see if Lilah carried it. He eventually retrieves the talisman from Mesektet, the little girl in the white room. Incidentally, Mesektet was the evilest of the totems, as she represented sunset and was therefore "darker" than the other totems. The Beast took a black energy from her. FYI, Manny, the totem Angel and Gwen and Gang protect from EvilCordy, represents noon and is considered neutral, the blend of good and evil traits inherent in all human beings. This may have been than you wanted to know but I was on a roll. I dunno, I still have problems taking that whole arc seriously. LA, center of the universe, and no one else in the world, as far as we know, noticed that we were stuck in Perpetual Night. 'Sides, Ra-tet sounds like a girl group - Cordy and the Ra-Tets. Alas, I am still not "grabbed" by AtS, and probably wouldn't remember to watch if I wasn't taping it. For certain, as Spike goes, so goes my nation, and if he leaves, so do I.

In Part 74 Spring posted this:
Just a minor detail - Miss Pam wasn't taken away to the hospital in an ambulance. We drove her there.
And Spring, you are a laugh and a half and then some.

Everybody, Julia has a very interesting interpretation of Angel, in terms of his Tarot significance (and a bit about Spike, too) on the Destiny thread of the Angel Investigations topic. It's page 10 of that discussion, post 141 and following (ff--just wanted to show that one off).
I think more would enjoy it than have yet seen it, and I invite you to go take a look.

Found it; I have been overlooking things left and right today, it's a wonder I made it around town by bus without getting hit by one. I'd been gone for four hours and there were posts from deborah to me, is all. (Hi, deborah, I'm not in the Midwest but rather in the upper left-hand corner of the US, but yes, on a working ranch: cow calf operation with a few hogs and several absolutely pointless horses). Somebody asked about the state of the TNT edits, she says, holding her head and moaning softly. Does it bother anyone else that they ignore obvious blackouts to commercial, then cut in the middle of SENTENCES? Julia

If anyone is interested, here are the lyrics to Lindsey McDonald's L.A. song he sang for Lorne in Dead End. Pretty girl on every corner Sunshine turns the sky to gold Warm, warm, it's always warm here I can't take the cold
Streets littered with diamonds Everyone is glistening This whole world shines so brightly I can't see a thing
She is pretty as a picture She is like a golden ring Circles me with love and laughter I can't feel a thing
Chorus
The sky is gonna open People are gonna pray and crawl Gonna rain down fire Gonna burn us all
Sky is gonna open People gonna pray and sing I can't feel - - a thing
She is pretty as a picture She is like a golden ring Circles me with love and laughter I can't feel a thing
Repeat chorus Thank you Wendy. Much appreciated. deborah
