Really loving all the relationship twists and turns - deftly handled while the action keeps moving along. I feel so worried for Faith and Xander now. When Buffy and Spike are handling something more smoothly than you as a couple, you know things are bad. ;D Very much in agreement with the others who have commented on your Dawn/Wes scenes. Sexy and they ring true. And Wes' conversation with Lilah? He did very well considering how it must have made him feel to make that call (not just leaping into some kind of "I made a mistake, let's get back together" thing, but acting like he's angry, that there really are problems with Dawn and him, and that he wants to see Lilah) - a thin tightrope to walk. But I still worry she will see through it, thinking he is moving too quick. Bravo all 'round, Rob! Lola Oh, I'm very happy you liked the Dawn/Wes stuff. I like that couple a lot, though I'm not entirely certain why. Wes's conversation with Lilah was an interesting challenge. Clearly she'd immediately see through any immediate effort to reestablish a physical relationship...so I had to think of a different tack to use. I think, under the circumstances, Wes did the best he could. Pulled it off reasonably well, too. Plus, he had the grace to wait until Dawnie got into the shower at least. Points for that. That Xander...he and Faith just can't catch a break. Sad thing is, she has a legit point. Xander's just not in shape to fight anything at the moment, and even when he was... Well, I don't want to go into this too deeply right now. Thanks so much for your response.

Rob has a way with the dialogue that helps a reader feel like the characters we love so much are still around. Keep up the good work. Thanks, Spring. Not much further to go...working on the next chapter as we speak.

Dude, you have really got it going on! In the absence of Joss-ness next season, it's good to know you're around. Just finished Chapter 25, with Xander overhearing the exact wrong moment of the conversation, which, come on, is so perfect! Can't wait for the next chapter! That's very nice of you to say. Thanks. Next chapter is on the way.

I'm with Lola, Rob. Another wonderful chapter. Loved all the Faith/Xander stuff. Trust Xander to overhear just at the wrong moment. I really liked the Buffy and Spike scene. Great to see them getting along so well. Very moving. Eagerly awaiting the next chapter. Cal I always have a hard time writing Buffy/Spike scenes, so it means a lot that you liked it. Spike is very difficult for me because his speech patterns are the least familiar, for obvious reasons. Some people have a gift for writing his character that I don't share...so I just try really hard to muddle my way through.

Rob, I'm just going to have to give a great big "me too" to everything that's been said the last couple of days. Your dialogues ring absolutely true for every character. Your chapters drip with wit and sophistication -- as well as with plain, old, laugh-out-loud funny (which I did, several times -- LOL, that is). Even the chapter number -- how appropriate!
I'm eagerly awaiting the next installment![/size]

Another great chapter, Rob. You've got the emotional side of being pregnant just right. You sure you've never been pregnant yourself? Poor Buffy! I feel for her. She really needs to have that conversation with Spike. I loved this chapter, Rob. I enjoy all of the action, but I like a chapter where we get to see more character interaction. Looking forward to the next one.

Looking forward to the next one. Yes, I agree - Rob has nailed the pregnancy thing pretty well. I hope we get to see him write about babies and diapers, too. Fun chapter. Your characterization continues to impress, and your humor. Phallacy, huh? I am impressed with the way you do Riley, especially. I have never tried to write Riley, and I think it would be challenging. He's mostly low-key, has an understated way about him, that would make him a challenge. And you know what . . . Rob, I could swear that long ago, you once joked on one of the ScoopMe boards that "Riley walking in" (paraphrasing, memory very vague!) was what could ruin a piece of fan-fic for you! But I am enjoying his addition to your piece, and you seem to be enjoying writing him. I like that Dawn is maturing and you are showing that very believable - i.e., she is still Dawn. I'm with Spike though, on the still slightly worried about the Wes-thing.

Good chapter, Rob! Hope the writing stuckness is getting better. You know you can come and tell us all about it and get lots of sympathy and virtual hugs and stuff if it’s not, right?
Liked the whole Riley & Dawn sparring thing, but especially all the reactions of everyone around them – looking on and commenting. Spike quipping and then figuring out what’s up with Dawn and Angel making with the funny and then quietly trying to give Spike advice about the relationship with Wes. It did a nice job of showing how much of a family they have all become.
The moment between Buffy and Willow was very sweet but also felt real.
Loved the little exchanges between folks.
Hee hee!!

Wow. Wow! Man, you really understand Dawnie. How she holds onto a grudge. How she takes out her fear/anger/frustration about things on other people. Love how Fred slaps them both out of their own dramas and back to reality. Spike in the comic shops and at the con was priceless. And Angel at the arcade. ;D **giggle** He's so cute when he gets obsessed. Well, as long as it's not, you know, about driving someone insane or killing their puppy or something. And it's perfect that after everyone is working so hard to think of all the places Xander would usually go, Buffy just does some of her "make it up as I go along, let's try this" stuff and finds him. Very good scenes with the two of them - especially when she calls him on the easy, sorta fake explanations he's trying to palm off on her. I liked this a lot. A glimpse of whatevery one is trying to find Xander, but also how he and the others are handling the night before yet another "hey, we may all die today" day. Back to the opening paragraphs. Soooooo ... making a point of Dawn's keyness. Does this mean ... something special? Yay! Very nice job all 'round, Rob! Enjoy your vacation and s'cubiefest! Lola

FOAMY!
You really have captured some of the difficulties of growing up; as with Xander (and all of us), the issues don't really change, they just add layers.
More later, I promise.

Lola Thanks so much for the detailed review. I love Dawn very much, but she still has a great deal to learn. That is how I see her. She has a huge heart, though...I love her especially for that. I can't resist making Angel look a little silly. I know that probably drives his fans a little nuts, but it never fails to make me laugh when he is put into these situations. I've wanted to write the Buffy/Xander conversation toward the end of the chapter for a very long time, but it never seemed to fit anywhere until now. Xander would have to be particularly reflective - and more than a little drunk - to lay his cards so fully on to the table. Again, thanks very much. I'll be writing the next chapter as soon as I can.
