"My mother taught me" Heh. wait, didn't his mother die in childbirth? It just makes the moment all that much better, doesn't it? I mean, even in a snarky throw-away funny line he's got a little twisty non-truth thing happening. When no one knows but him. ;D Presuming the rest of the plane folks who are not Losties are OK, yes is it much better than could have been hoped for! So, it's like the Island and the other Losties kinda . . . pulled them, like a big ol (wait for it) electromagnet!

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S OVER ALREADY!! They really packed a lot of story advancement into this puppy. I totally was not expecting to get the Losties back to the Island so speedily.

Not a favorite episode of mine. I liked the entry of the Losties into the Sibyl's cavern, and the Sibyl's cryptic explanations and prophecies; but a bit too much was left out - like how Hurley and Sayid wound up on the plane; and what happened to Aaron (I'm assuming that Kate handed him back to his grandmother; it would have been nice to see that, but why didn't Jack want to know his nephew's fate).
Looks like Locke will survive his own death - yay .
And Jin is working for Dharma - it must be the 70's or 80's. Avoiding Little Ben will be interesting.
Speaking of Ben; I really, really, hope he didn't kill Penny.

"This will be your last civilized breakfast ever, so enjoy it while you can, Kate" Turns out it was fortuitous, with the sneakers, as Christian did a lot of running around, for a corpse. Benry appears to have been through the mill at the marina. Hopefully Desmond and Penny got the better of him and his murderin' ways. Putting the magic shoes. Wait, you didn't read the suicide note? Magic shoes. You don't suppose Locke clicked his heels together 3 times?

Hmm... 316 isn't one of the numbers.
Teaser
Jack's eye. Back at the beginning of the pilot?
I wish...
So, not the beginning of the pilot, then.
Some one calling for help?
Is this a flashback, or is Mrs. Hawking's method of geting everyone back on the island to just teleport them there?
Running, running, running.
Hey, it's that lake where Kate and Sawyer found the suitcase.
Some one with a guitar. Charlie?
Oh, it's Hurley. Huh?
And there's Kate.
So they're back but they don't know how they got there. Even the ones who weren't in the church got teleported back.
46 hours earlier. Ah, it's that trick.
Picking up where we left off last episode.
Descending into hell.
Mrs. Hawking's lair. Batman would be jealous.
The Lamppost. Part of the DHARMA Initiative. And it's how they found the island in the first place. So the island must really jump around all over the globe. Though the climate always seems to be tropical.

Part I
Ben didn't know about The Lamppost.
Is he telling the truth? Jack, do you even have to ask anymore?
Probably not. Heh. I think I love Mrs. Hawking already. She treats Ben like this annoying yet indispensable pet or something. she's got this teacherly demeanor. Gather around, kids!
Picture of the island from 1954.
Pockets of EM energy all around the world are connected to each other. DHARMA knew the island existed before they found it.
Stop looking for where the island was supposed to be and start looking for where the island was going to be.
I love everyone's reaction shots here. Hee.
Who is the person that Mrs. Hawking is referring to? Daniel?
The island is always moving.
There are certain windows of transportation. Like for space flight.
Desmond interjects. Hee. Desmond delivers his message.
The island isn't done with Desmond yet. Of course.
Desmond rants. He is done with the island! And that's final! ...yeah. Jack just stares dumbly. Has he turned into a pod person?
List of flights that cross the path of the island. Boy, doesn't Jack wish he had had this before!
Ajeera 316. So that camp the other Losties saw much have been this group of Losties.
They all have to be on that flight. Are they sure that enough seats are available? It's awfully short notice, after all.
They have to recreate the circumstances of their previous flight. Otherwise the result would be unpredictable.
And Jack has one more task or other. Probably to do with his dad or something.

Part II
Mrs. Hawking and Jack. In her office?
What does the rest of the world think this church is all about? Does anyone wonder that there are never any church services? What if some one in the neighborhood wanted to pop in and pray?
A letter. Locke's suicide note. Or "suicide" note?
Locke is going to be a proxy for Christian. So a dead body on the plane was really part of the magical formula?
Jack has to give something of Christian's to Locke? Am I smoking something? And can I have some more?
So Christian is definitely dead, dead, dead. At least as far as everyone knows. That clears up that.
Stop thinking about how ridiculous it is. OK, whatever you say, Mrs. Hawking.
To go back to Never Never Land, you have to clap your hands and say that you believe in fairies.
A leap of faith.
Ben sits, not praying.
Ben and Jack go over logistics.
Who are all these candles for that Ben and Mrs. Hawking keep lighting?
Not a saint's statue but painting of some kind. Doesn't look religious.
Thomas the Apostle. Another Thomas.
Oh, it is a religious painting. The touching of Christ's wounds.
Faith again.
We're all convinced sooner or later.
Ben made a promise to an old friend of his. A loose end that needs tying up. Are we going to spend a couple episodes trying to figure out what he means?
In the airport bar again.
An assisted living facility?
Rabbits again.
Ray. Who is this and how does Jack know him?
Oh, his grandfather. Why are we only hearing about him now? Ah, he wants to get something of Christian's from Ray.
The shoes. And there it is. If only they were ruby slippers.
Back at Jack's apartment.
Drinking again.
Something goes bump in the night. He's going to run into a ghost, isn't he?
Kate? Yep, it's Kate. She's changed her mind. Just as she always does.
Where did she put Aaron? Did she kill him?
And then the sex! Naturally!

Yikes - the more answers we get, the more questions pop up. The lamppost pendulum reminded me of Willow's locator spell pendulum. (Also, it reminded me of what you use over a pregnant woman's tummy to predict the sex of the baby.) The island must have jumped to the North Pole at one point - hence the polar bear.

Part III
The next morning. Jack is glowing. Kate looks like death.
About footwear. Ah, those tennis shoes were Jacks.
He wasn't worth a nice pair of shoes to me. Well, I'm sure he'll be glad to be able to change into some wingtips.
Ben on the phone. Calling for help. What the hell happened to him?
At Simon's Butcher Shop. Where's Simon at?
So Jill doesn't know what's going on anymore than anybody else. Why is she a part of all this, then?
It's a good thing that Jack, Christian, and Locke all wear about the same size, isn't it?
Jack didn't even read the note? Sheesh.

Part IV Discussion with airline about tranporting dead body again. This airline is a lot cooler about it than Oceanic is. Who is that guy who was behind Jack in line? Are we supposed to know who he is? Going through security. Meeting up with Sun. Sayid's there too. Except he's in custody. And cop looks familiar. And there's Hurley. Because? Why does he have a guitar? Oh, maybe because Ghost Charlie told him. Ben too. Wow, he's beaten up more than I thought. Poor unsuspecting flight attendants. Seat 8C. The letter. WTF? Maybe the airline is in on it, too. The other people on this plane, what's going to happen to them? Who cares? Plane takes off. Jack and Kate talk. We're on the same plane, Jack. It doesn't mean we're together. Frank's the pilot! OMG!!! We're only missing Desmond and Aaron. And possibly Walt. We're not going to Guam, are we?

Coda
Flying, flying, flying.
What is Ben reading?
How can you read? My mother taught me. *Snerk*
It beats what you're doing. Waiting for something to happen.
Ben is jealous that he didn't get to stay after school.
I love how incongruous Ben's glasses are.
About Locke's "suicide."
The letter. Just read the damn letter, Jack!
It wasn't your fault, Jack. How very Good Will Hunting.
Who opens an envelope like that?
I wish you had believed me.
Wait, that's it?
Turbulence. Flashes.
And we're back to the beginning. Oh, the scrap of paper was from the letter.
The Losties get their bearing.
Holy crap. They're back in time too!
It's Jin!!!!
So the other Losties got absorbed into the DHARMA Initiative.
OMGWTFBBQ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to a Narnia reference I read earlier today, that series is fresh in my mind. Thus I can note that a lamp post stood close to the border between our world and Narnia. I wonder if the other stations have some connection to fantasy literature.

Boy, this looks familiar. Hurley. With a guitar case. Or an upright base. Kate. Oh, thank GOD, It's Medias Res. "46 hours earlier" Down into Mommma Farraday's pendulum of horrors. And they are kinda down in a pit . . . Maybe she'll be strapping Ben down at some point. The Pit and the Pendulum? And *snicker*.

I'm not even going to try and figure out this episode title... 316? Yeah. Who knows? Wiki says it's the area code for Wichita, KS. Well it could be another connection to Wizard of Oz. Though that could just be on my mind because I watched Life on Mars before watching this.
