Random babbleage over last night's Fringe: Okay, I admit it. I squeeed when I saw Ravi Kapoor listed as a guest star. Bug! With a beard, yet! I miss Crossing Jordan. Poor Walter, so disturbed by the guy in restraints, and the smell of Seattle. At least this time he was able to explain his feelings to Peter, and get away from what bothered him. Also, when Walter mentioned MK-ULTRA, hilarity ensued, although I had to explain to Paul because he hasn't gotten to that part of The Men Who Stare at Goats yet. I said the book was Fringe for reals. Heh. I like bowling alley guy; I hope he's a recurring character. The running subplot of Olivia working through her guilt and grief over Charlie was very nicely done, I thought. It looks like the whole Peter-stolen-from-alternate-universe thing is about to hit the fan... In November? I have to wait? Argh. Grrr argh. I'm sure there was something else, but I forget. I do love this show. She had a Northwestern! t-shirt on! I wonder who on the production side (or writer or actor) is an NU grad.

I thought this one really hit a nice balance between the creepy stuff and the character moments. I too felt bad for Walter when he was confronted with the guy in restraints, and my heart broke for Olivia when she figured out the anagram. And Walter's lip lick when he was describing the rush he'd felt while absorbing the dreams was quite... unnerving. Well played by John Noble. Yes, I'm really impressed with John Noble, although they're all excellent. JN has made a caricature mad scientist into a fascinating, complex, layered human being. I give credit to the writers as well, but his acting is outstanding. I think we're going to watch this one again over the weekend, and probably the episode of the week before. There's so much going on, I know I'm missing important clues. By the way, Sara, please could you repost the link to that site that deciphers the symbols at the commercial breaks? I should've bookmarked it, but my brain is all swiss-cheesey. Not a problem at all: the glyph code.

Thank you, this time I bookmarked it. After which I discovered that I already had, but I forgot into which folder I had put it. Hey, I spent my morning at work yesterday doing a massive purging/organizing/restructuring of my bookmarks--my Read It Later collection alone was absurdly huge. So it happens.

I want to reorganize my bookmarks, but Safari doesn't make that easy; as it is they're chronologically by impulse, which isn't much use. Julia,Walter and I would get on, that way

Ew, yuck, ew, and ow! Walter's character development is just fascinating, and the actor is doing a magnificent job. Poor Astrid, and poor Walter feeling so guilty about her being hurt. I loved his solution to getting lost - I was wondering if he'd get Peter's number tattooed on his arm (all those tattooed gang members), but he went for the technological. Only Walter would implant himself with a GPS, and give the tracker to his son. Okay, this next is about this week's Dollhouse, so I'm going to shield it. Nothing major, though: It did get kind of weird, watching Echo remove tracking devices, after Walter went to all the trouble of putting one in.

Fringe good. Not sure I understand it, but good. John Noble is magnificent. The rest of the ensemble are excellent as well, but he's outstanding. No new one next week?

I understood the bulk, I think, but not the ending. Is there a Walter in the other universe? Was that "our" Walter or other Walter? Did it take place here or there? Was he recalling the past (they both still looked quite old)? Taking the pieces from the brain was supposed to prevent ever opening the door again, but the pieces were saved just in case (at the expense of the sanity of 3 random people). But a "bad guy?" found out and re-connected the pieces just long enough to get the info? But, again, I'm confused about who is where and when. Besides, it seems like there is a door already open if Olivia and the shape-shifting soldiers have all crossed over?

I need to watch this over again.I wonder if, when Bell took Walter's memory, he took the bits to the other side with him? Perhaps the "bad guy" got a false set of information. Paul thought Walter looked younger. The last episode of S1 was called "There's More Than One of Everything", by the way. We know that "our" Walter stole the other Peter from the other universe when "our" Peter died. At least, I think we know that. So, does the otherworld Walter know how to open the door, or just our Walter? Does everybody we know in our universe have a living counterpart on the other side of the door? I'm confused, but it's a good kind of confusion. I want to know more.

Gotta love Google:
Fringe fans got an odd treat Monday night as FOX ran a previously unseen Season 1 episode called Unearthed before resuming the series where we left off—in the middle of Season 2.
There had been some FOX hype about this episode taking place in a "parallel universe" which would have been interesting. That turned out to be total hype. Unearthed is just a skipped episode they threw out there when given the chance.
The presence of Agent Charlie Francis (Kirk Acevedo) was surely confusing to those fans who hadn't heard that this was a one-shot special event, as Charlie is dead in Season 2 But for the rest of us, Unearthed was simply a decent stand-alone episode.
===
That would be me. Which is why I googled "is Fringe episode 11 out of order."

"Winter Finale"
Well done, especially the beginning and the end.
Very icky, creepy, the guy with the merged body. Thank heavens he died. Good on Astrid for drawing the line.
Middle of episode -- largely all set-up for the "payoff," but I never saw that payoff coming. I knew Peter was from the other universe, but I never suspected that this was when, or how, it would be revealed.
Love her deciding to take her hair down, her brown jacket, his gray sweater. And now she will back off bigtime and he will never know why.

Her anger with Walter, and her ability to move past that to a place where they can work together, and that last scene where she sees Peter and her face just freezes and then when he turns away she looks at Walter and they both are just wrecked. Wally and Billy have a whole lot to answer for. Julia, April? April is forever. Phooey.

And the lock combination was 5-20-10 "we chose this combination but now I don't remember what it means."
[Walter, I think it might refer to MAY sweeps in 2010. Not all that subtle if I figure it out.]
