Welcome to Part 1069 of the Soulful Spike Society Main Thread! One day you're swimming along, not a care in the world, and next thing you know you've been hooked. How do you think we got here? So go on, take the bait on Soufulspike, the Web Site and tell us what you think. If you're looking to swim in the deep end, take a dive into the Open Topics Forum where the life aquatic is many and varied. Found something to watch besides the waves? Obsessed about love, love, love it? Then join the rest of the school at the reef where we are also obessed in love with television. Avoid being filleted by playing nice and by hiding your spoilers under the ghost of sushi past button above, or by posting them only in Spoiled Souls. If you need a swimming lesson or just want to brush up on your strokes, read The Rules. Don't do any of these things and I'm thinking I see wasabi and ginger next to you in your future. ;D Now get those fins on and dive!

Oh my Goddess, that's horrible, in a wonderful sort of way. I'm embarassed to say that I recognize the lock - it's Keroppi. Hello Kitty has eaten my brain...

It was inevitable. I added a link to the Sanrio info, if anyone is brave enough to venture into the vast sea of cuteness.

You people are a bad influence. ;D

Onj -
Great opener.
Re Glee -- at the moment I'm DVRing it. Most of the musical numbers are fun. I like most of the kids. I think the quarterback is cute, a good actor and has potential. The actual group is just remarkably type-cast:
one jock one heavy black female one asian female (not given much part yet) one gay male one handicapped guy one talented, driven and not classically pretty over-achieving female with crush on quarterback
But I like most of them as individuals.
I like the adult male lead -- the actor, but not so much the character. I don't much like any of the adult characters. (Although, yes the gym teacher is so over the top as to be funny.)
But I find the wife incredibly annoying. I don't care for their relationship and her manipulativeness and his giving in to her pretensions and financial blackmail. I hate the fake pregnancy storyline. I don't much care for his thinly disguised flirting/friendship with the guidance counselor: why is he so clueless and why does he even like her --- she's nuts too.
yada yada.
I can easily see what others like in it and I may continue to tape episodes so I can fast forward through the parts that totally annoy me.
So much potential interspersed with so much nonsense and unlikeability. (IMO)
And then of course there was JOSH GROBAN. [but, jeez, I thought the scene with the guy's mom was really sort of skeevy -- I know it was supposed to be funny -- must just be a pressure point with me.]

[but, jeez, I thought the scene with the guy's mom was really sort of skeevy -- I know it was supposed to be funny -- must just be a pressure point with me.] Haven't seen tonight's yet: just watched the first two this evening at my parents' house. And the gay male is actually a gay female, unless I'm completely clueless. Or perhaps she's intersex. saw the bits about ep 3. Edit: Okay, found someone else to play the Bel Thorne role. I too can't stand the wife: she's petty and horrible and frustrating, and I want Will to break free of her when he finds out about her faking of her pregnancy. I contrast the guidance counselor in that she's totally self-aware of her obsessive compulsions, and while she deals with them, she apparently has few other extreme mental handicaps. So it's an endearing sort of crazy, and I could easily see myself living with/dealing with her crazy as opposed to the entirely self-absorbed crazy of his wife. To me, it's all over-the-top: if it were animated in a semi-realistic style, like King of the Hill, I wouldn't even blink at the silliness. I mean, I don't blink at it now, but that's the place I'm viewing it from.

SPN SPOILER PROMO FOR EPISODE 5.02:ARE THEY FUCKING KIDDING ME?! "I killed two angels this week, and I did it all for you." It's practically canon in my world now, people. The writers are doing everything they can to help us Dean/Cas fangirls out, and I LOVE THEM FOR IT. Of course, the dialog is probably just cut off, and he's probably just saying I did it all for youuuu . . . all and humanity and shit, but still.
