No, random lady who called to see if the museum is open--I am not going to go online and figure out if there's a Walgreens between here and Lake George for you. Cripes. Duuuude. We get calls like that all the time. And people asking us for the phone numbers of other places. And for the addresses of other places. And directions to other places. WTF, world? WIPING YOUR ASS IS NOT IN MY JOB DESCRIPTION.

No, random lady who called to see if the museum is open--I am not going to go online and figure out if there's a Walgreens between here and Lake George for you. Cripes. Sheesh. Indeed. At least when I get those calls they are from a blood relative (yes, I'm looking at you, Allison). I've gotten similar calls before--people asking me about places to stay in the area, what the best route is from their location, that sort of thing. Those I direct to the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, and if I'm feeling benevolent I'll even give them the phone number; I figure it's the CoC's job to know exactly the kind of info my caller is looking for, and it'll be a heck of a lot more current than anything I dredge from my brain. But this lady? She was just... First she wanted to know if there were any sights worth checking out between here and Lake George. The last time I was in the Lake George area Greg and I were still in high school, so I said it'd been a while since I'd traveled between here and there. Next she asks if there's a Walgreens in Manchester; I tell her no, there isn't. Then she tells me she tried calling Walgreens, but the number she had wasn't working and Walgreens isn't listed in the Lake George phone book and could I think of anything else she could try. I suggest looking Walgreens up online. She asks if you can look up stores by zip code on their site; I say that many chains have the option to do that sort of search, so there's an excellent chance Walgreens does. That's when she asked me if I was near a computer. I lied and told her I wasn't around one at that moment--thankfully I'd just been reading online and not typing during the conversation. I mean, seriously--who does that?

You know, if she'd acknowledged that she was aware she was asking me to go above and beyond the call of duty, even in some small way, I might have steered her toward the CoC. She didn't treat me in a snooty or mean way, thankfully, but it was clear she was totally accustomed to other people taking care of her problems. And I was just cranky enough to not want to enable that in any way.

And it's exactly why I won't ever work at a public library. There is a retired faculty member who calls me all the time to look up phone numbers for her. I guess she's too cheap to call information?? This is an academic library, not 411, lady.

Wow, y'all get up all at once, don'tcha? XD BIG time BtVS fan, yes, not AS much with AtS (I want to know what the writers were smoking through most of series four on that one) though I love it, too. Firefly's always going to be a favourite, Dollhouse is my new lovah, as far as TV goes (what with Kripke making me want to punch kittens - and him - every time I watch Supernatural, as much as I might love the show in a general sense). I saw y'all had Life on Mars when that was airing! Happymaking. John Simm in anything is worth watching. *nods* *continues rambling for a few more minutes, but it's not important, so we'll cut to--* ANYWAY, I'm technically not in Ithaca yet (though my contacts say it has not, in fact, snowed yet this fall), I'm still in Arizona, but as we're packing up the apartment and shipping out with a U-Haul TOMORROW, I figured it was true enough to put down. XD We talk about everything here. You'll be at home in no time at all. Welcome to the Thrall Room. Diane *somebody explain to this nice n'ewbie what the Thrall Room is, where she is now that she's in Erinland--maybe with the map--and the true meaning of 'getting your Wednesday on'?*

Ooooo, pretty bear! *tries desperately not to look like she totally just sauntered in here for the first time, what?* Hey! Avrilys! Nice saunter. Welcome to the board. Stay a while....We have cookies. Or are cookies. Or maybe we are only half-baked...at times...

Yawn. Morning Scubies. I'm still hip deep in scripts and trying to get finished. Hope all is well in Scubie World and the newest Scubie Emily and Mom are perking along. New shows I love so far are: Glee Cougar Town Flash Forward These are on the keeper list. I haven't watched them all yet (Good Wife is still on the DVR) but these I adored. Not going to watch: Modern Family Community They are funny but they are not for me. I'm with you on your lists, Pixi. Watched Jenna Elfman's new show, too. Accidentally on purpose. I thought it was kind of cute, and I am not a big Elfman fan, but I liked her co-characters. Especially her boss/ex hottie..who was on short-lived, but much missed, Point Pleasant.

Well, yes and no, as we are spread across 4 time zones in the U.S (but our west-coasters do seem to be early risers) and England. Fortunately we are a non-discriminatory group who embrace all races, creeds, colors, genders, age-groups, life-styles, political parties, and even alternative show preferences. Plus, you admitted, in the end, to the SPN love. But watch out for Monnie and Pixi when dissing Kripke. (Kidding -- since you don't know us it's probably dangerous to try to be humorous without a clear disclaimer. It's simply that we have a few members currently in thrall big time to SPN in general and Castiel/Misha in particular.) It's actually fine to express personal frustration with a show-runner or plotline. As for run on sentences and rambling -- well, look around you. Oh, and, what does XD mean? Clearly all the cook kids (you) are using it. What brought you to our fair shores? Oh, I'll happily admit that I adore the show, Misha and Castiel are both love in completely different ways, and that I will watch it until the end no matter what. There are just certain sexist/racist things that I firmly believe are unintentional but that make me wince epically. I want to punch kittens sometimes, what with, for example, the few females seeming to, without fail, be evil, dead, an ex-lover, or some combination of the above. Please oh please let Ellen and Jo survive this season, PLEASE.... *prays* But in the end, I love it to pieces, more than pie. After all, I think being critical of a show either means that you can't stand it, or that you love it so much you want to pick out its flaws in the hopes SOMEONE notices them and makes the show better. I'm definitely in the latter camp.Actually, I was looking up something in regards to the Buffy episode "The Zeppo", and stumbled across the review on the main site off a google hit. Started poking around, thought you lot looked interesting, but was afraid that the site would be dead, since most of the stuff was dated from 3-4 years ago at least.
And then I saw the stuff on Dollhouse and realised you were still kicking! And here I am. ^_^

^_^ Thank you! I'm hoping to actually stick around, as I am notoriously bad at remembering when I've registered on forums, and then don't come 'round for another, oh, six months, and thus never really find it very fulfilling to be there and then don't come back for round three. ...that sentence got away from me a bit. Okay. I like her already. Can we keep her? ....if we don't manage to creep her out and scare her off, that is?

And I agree that the show does have some issues (and I also think it is unintentional) that I'd really like to see fixed or changed, at some point. Thankfully, I'm able to get past all of that, because I LOVE the show, to the point of obsession and beyond. ;D I'm so excited we now have another fan of it on the board! Yep, we're still here and kicking. The board isn't as active as it was back in the BtVS and AtS days (we'd go through 30-page parts in less than a day, sometimes), but we're gonna be around for years to come, I think.

Trust me - in some corners of the forsaken wasteland of LiveJournal, my friends and I are considered to be highly insane. In that "oh, look, they're nutters, but they're generally friendly, but the intensity of their quirks and oddities makes me strangely ambivalent* about getting to know them" way. *please note that I'm going by the proper definition of having contradictory emotions, not what a lot of people seem to think about it meaning something like apathetic. Or maybe just the people I've met. ...I really need to just not talk sometimes. XD
