Currently 10.2F; overnight low 7.7F. (-12.1C, -13.5C) Julia, that's just wrongYes, Carolyn is in D.C. on business and is wondering whether she will be able to get back to Chicago tomorrow. It's a late flight, I'm thinking maybe most of the snow will be over --- but then they are dropping to 15/9 degrees. And, travel weather from Ohio to Vermont looks .......... really quite horrid. And, progressing by inches to put things back in their proper places (prior to removing them again to replace with Christmas-y stuff. Wait! There may be a more efficient way to do this! ) Doesn't help that there are no longer any picture hanging nails anywhere at the moment, as I was unsure which pictures would wind up where and how they would be placed so I let the painters fill in all the holes..... However, having made tiny bits progress I must head off to tutor. Next year I'm only going to work with kids who can come to my house.

We woke up to a 59 degree INDOOR temp - just below freezing outside. Poor baby's hands were so cold. We're warmer inside, by five degrees. Y'all need to put a radiant heater closer to the sleeping baby, I see. Julia, California houses are the coldest places ever in cold weather, except for the house in Waco, where every bedroom had three or four doors Yeah; her core temp is fine, 'cause she's in her sleep sack and (against current safety protocols) she has two blankets over her from the chest down...but her hands are cold. And her nose/cheeks. We're moving the space heater into the bedroom tonight. I'm just paranoid about getting it right, 'cause overheating's supposed to be worse than a baby being a little cold. But at least she's sleeping on her own, rather than cosleeping in our death trap of a winter bed. I just miss being able to cuddle her at night, is all. Especially since she's sleeping through the night now. It's great for sleep, but I actually miss nursing her at 2 a.m. A little. Not a lot. I still get the 5:30 a.m. nursing, after all.

Babies are definitely cuddlesome for sleeping with. I remember when my first grandson was born. I went to visit my daughter and her husband. When I got up in the middle of the night she, the baby and the husband were a big puppy pile, all asleep together with the baby contentedly asleep on his mommy's tummy.

Thank you Julia and Karen. The numb is wearing off and being replaced by worry. Oh well. It was nice while it lasted.

I just got a call from a doctor at Kaiser, looking for my mom, who, of course, isn't here. He said my dad's kidney isn't doing well, and he wanted to know if I'm the one who makes the medical decisions.
I told him he'd have to talk to my mom, she's in charge of decisions, and made sure he had her number. She's probably on her way home from the hospital now.
Oh crap oh crap oh crap.
I haven't heard from my mom yet. I hope the doctor calls before she calls me, I panicked and didn't even ask for his number.
Heard from my mom. The doctor got ahold of her; they needed authorization to try dialysis, which she gave. He looks really bad. She thinks he knew who she was, but she's not sure.

Nothing impresses the same as an opener with man-titty. Yay, Onjel! Because being evil is just being so gosh darn much fun! I agree - excellent opener, Onjellinibini.
