Not really. But we're pretty sure Trelane is a Q, right? He has all the symptoms. Immortality, Omnipotence, Arrogance, short temper. He's a baby Q. A certain liminal quality to his sexuality... Julia, Q: the ST powers that be generous gift to slashfic writers.

So, for those who are overwhelmed by reality, Mr. Sam R's last 72 hours or so:
Sunday: at girlfriend's house, leave for work at 2pm, home at 11:30pm.
Monday: at home, up slightly before 8am, leave for school at 8:30, home at 3pm, watch "The End of Time" pt 2 shower, leave at 8:30 to celebrate GF's birthday a day early.
Tuesday: Leave GF's house early enough to get here at 7:50, drag's Dad out of bed to drive to Evergreen; Dad discovers he doesn't have his wallet about a mile from home, return, leave again @8:40 still walletless, class 9-noon, 1-4, home by bus and quarter-mile run in time to shower, get into Multiplex Uniform, and get to work @ 5:30
Wednesday: Home from work @ 1:50am, up @ 8am, drives (alone) to class by 9am.
Today's 9am session is a lab that's not on the website schedule, and was a nasty, nasty surprise.
At least he has this afternoon off, yes?
Julia, also, Franklin had a doctors appointment yesterday and got a massive meds reshuffle, plus Xrays showing his scoliosis has gotten 5 degrees more severe.

Our snow predictions from last night, put at 2-5, 1-3, 1.5-2, and "up to 6" inches by the 3 local news stations and newspaper have now dropped to "possibly 1/2 inch." Grrrr Arrrrrgh. You can have some of ours. We are supposed to get 6-12 inches of very fine weight snow and major wind. The dam on one of the rivers that run through the town is ice-jammed and the river is way over flood stage upstream. If they blow the ice now, though, the flats will get flooded. My oldest has a house right near the river, but on higher ground. The water's gotten close before. Right now it looks like someone is throwing glitter off the roof of the building. The ice crystals are so fine and clear and the sun is still shining. It is way cool. I tried to get a photo of it.

So far today I have (in addition to the usual daily usefuls): - Watered the front lawn. - Found a nice 1" belt online, and decided that my time, effort and sanity attempting to dye the belt blank I already have are probably all worth more than the cost of ordering ready-made for Paul. Besides, he'll be wearing it to work, and I have my doubts as to the Tandy dye holding up with long-term use. I'll save the belt blank for a costume belt later, perhaps in green. I think I have some green dye... - Called AT&T about adding Kitty to our cell phone plan, taken copious notes, determined that Paul has to speak to them himself because his name is all over the account (not mine, I just see that the bills are paid on time ) and decided to wait anyway. Too much information. Phones are too complicated. Kitty will probably get either Paul's or mine, and one of us will take the new one anyway, not that we use them much. - Repaired a yard-sale dangle earring and presented the pair to Emily, on whom they look lovely. - Walked to Cost Plus and purchased a tealight holder (small, fishbowl-shaped, purple) for my stash of fortune cookie fortunes. I keep thinking they'll be good for collage. So far, I've used precisely one, but you never know... What's next, what's next? Probably lunch followed by . Anne, I am woman, I am usefuls slayer, I am tired...

The ice crystals are so fine and clear and the sun is still shining. It is way cool. I tried to get a photo of it. I know it's a silly thing to bitch about. Doesn't even actually register on the "1 to 10 scale of annoying" because, for one thing, people won't get in accidents, etc. Just mildly disappointing since it's a rare thing for us. From the most reliable local website: No doubt we are going to see some snow. But how much? Yesterday, we talked about how when the precipitation begins as snow and ends as snow the forecast has a lot better chance of verifying (as opposed to when it is forecasted to start as rain and change over to snow). Since we are expecting one of those rare instances when it is expected start and end as snow, it is quite likely we’ll get our share.
However, we also explained yesterday that there will be two low pressure systems, one in the Gulf and one in the Ohio Valley, that will “split the snow in half” with the heaviest amounts passing both to our north and to our south. Below is today’s GFS model run. Notice the light blue areas below on the bottom chart coinciding with the two separate lows on the top chart. We will be in between. Therefore, I think that 1-2″ (many of us leaning towards 1″) will be the most likely amount seen, with 1-3″ possible in our extreme northern and eastern counties. This is what often happens. Monnie knows. So they not only get snow to our north and our east (higher elevations) but often to the south of us as well. Still, it might be enough to close the schools. And possibly even keep them closed on Friday because outside of highways and main thoroughfares we don't plow at all. Some areas get "brined" (like salting) but if there is any melt due to sun and then refreeze there are miles and miles of hills and curves on backroads and in the shade that school buses cannot traverse.
