So far today I have (in addition to the usual daily usefuls): - Watered the front lawn. - Found a nice 1" belt online, and decided that my time, effort and sanity attempting to dye the belt blank I already have are probably all worth more than the cost of ordering ready-made for Paul. Besides, he'll be wearing it to work, and I have my doubts as to the Tandy dye holding up with long-term use. I'll save the belt blank for a costume belt later, perhaps in green. I think I have some green dye... - Called AT&T about adding Kitty to our cell phone plan, taken copious notes, determined that Paul has to speak to them himself because his name is all over the account (not mine, I just see that the bills are paid on time ) and decided to wait anyway. Too much information. Phones are too complicated. Kitty will probably get either Paul's or mine, and one of us will take the new one anyway, not that we use them much. - Repaired a yard-sale dangle earring and presented the pair to Emily, on whom they look lovely. - Walked to Cost Plus and purchased a tealight holder (small, fishbowl-shaped, purple) for my stash of fortune cookie fortunes. I keep thinking they'll be good for collage. So far, I've used precisely one, but you never know... What's next, what's next? Probably lunch followed by . Anne, I am woman, I am usefuls slayer, I am tired... When Paul calls them make sure he adds your name to the "is allowed to make changes and discuss the account" list -- for future issues.

NCIS.
Pushing pretty hard on the Tony/Ziva interactions. If you have to work hard to create UST then ........
And obviously setting up a big storyline with the guy set lose in Mexico. Why such obvious telegraphing?
Tim is looking good. They actually mentioned the weight loss a few episodes back.

Bad day. Due to the snow, my defense has been rescheduled for the DAY BEFORE I LEAVE THE COUNTRY. *sigh* Take a deep breath and repeat to yourself: "Last exam I will ever have to take."

I am having one of those moments which remind me why yesterday and Monday were so lovely and productive.
Julia, Sam's alleged 3-4 hour lab took less than an hour, and Anna's working at BB instead of Lacey today.

Good advice. Although in our case, it should be Sam, as I'd never, ever want to go in and talk to the telephone people, ever. Julia, argh.

You can have some of ours. We are supposed to get 6-12 inches of very fine weight snow and major wind. The dam on one of the rivers that run through the town is ice-jammed and the river is way over flood stage upstream. If they blow the ice now, though, the flats will get flooded. My oldest has a house right near the river, but on higher ground. The water's gotten close before. Right now it looks like someone is throwing glitter off the roof of the building. The ice crystals are so fine and clear and the sun is still shining. It is way cool. I tried to get a photo of it. I know it's a silly thing to bitch about. Doesn't even actually register on the "1 to 10 scale of annoying" because, for one thing, people won't get in accidents, etc. Just mildly disappointing since it's a rare thing for us. From the most reliable local website: No doubt we are going to see some snow. But how much? Yesterday, we talked about how when the precipitation begins as snow and ends as snow the forecast has a lot better chance of verifying (as opposed to when it is forecasted to start as rain and change over to snow). Since we are expecting one of those rare instances when it is expected start and end as snow, it is quite likely we’ll get our share.
However, we also explained yesterday that there will be two low pressure systems, one in the Gulf and one in the Ohio Valley, that will “split the snow in half” with the heaviest amounts passing both to our north and to our south. Below is today’s GFS model run. Notice the light blue areas below on the bottom chart coinciding with the two separate lows on the top chart. We will be in between. Therefore, I think that 1-2″ (many of us leaning towards 1″) will be the most likely amount seen, with 1-3″ possible in our extreme northern and eastern counties. This is what often happens. Monnie knows. So they not only get snow to our north and our east (higher elevations) but often to the south of us as well. Still, it might be enough to close the schools. And possibly even keep them closed on Friday because outside of highways and main thoroughfares we don't plow at all. Some areas get "brined" (like salting) but if there is any melt due to sun and then refreeze there are miles and miles of hills and curves on backroads and in the shade that school buses cannot traverse. Ah yes, we're experiencing the same thing right now. Were predicted to get more, but now they're saying maybe 1-2 inches, if that much. Happens every. single. time.

Continuing The Futon Critic's 50 Best Episodes of 2009 list that I think Sue started linking: Today's installment: Eps # 30 - 21I am, of course, especially happy about #28 . . . . (Although I do think that ep deserved to be higher up on the list--it blew me away the first time I watched it)

Yesterday was the bad and the good...
Flats on both the wife's and the son's cars ... but I didn't have to change them. Sewer line backed up ... but the cable company trenching behind the house admitted their responsibility and is writing me a check for the repairs. Compressor failed on the heat pump ... but it's covered by warranty and the "emergency heat" setting on the unit will get us through. Doctor believes I have a kidney stone ... well, not so much good but at least if the MRI confirms the diagnosis I'm on my way to improvement.

Well, I hope you get a satisfying snow, then. I am not too happy about the cold and wind that we're supposed to get at the same time as the snow. If I knew for sure that I wasn't going to use my carry-over vacation days this month, I would take tomorrow off and drink soy chais all day and read. I have 4 days I need to take by the end of the month. We'd like to drive south and golf, but as it looks now we'd have to go west to Arizona or way south, like Miami. Either way - too far to drive in a day. Flying is an option, tho. We were hoping for 50's in Southern Illinois. Not looking like that's going to happen this month.

Ouch! on the kidney stone and for all the other inconveniences. Whoa. It just dropped 5 degrees in 5 minutes.
