Holy frickin' crap.
My Uncle Greg told my mother that I said to him that people in the military get what they deserve, and that parents who let their children join the military are stupid. Leaving the politics aside - when have I EVER said anything like THAT?
And also, this is why, apparently, he didn't come to Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Thanks, everybody, for your comfort and kind words.
Honestly, what a clusterfuck this has turned out to be. I'm glad I've got my S'cubies to see me through.

Our snow predictions from last night, put at 2-5, 1-3, 1.5-2, and "up to 6" inches by the 3 local news stations and newspaper have now dropped to "possibly 1/2 inch." Grrrr Arrrrrgh. Have we heard from lefty? They are buried up in NE Ohio; the radio said 20 inches! Yowza. We've got an inch or so on the ground, and 1 - 3 expected tomorrow. That's good right there. Kinda fun without really burying you. It's also COLD - though not horrible - between 20 - 10 most of the day. I bought Nanucci a little coat. I had sheared him about a month ago, so his hair is still pretty short, and he was shivering going outside. He looks funny in his little coat, but it helps him.

NCIS. Pushing pretty hard on the Tony/Ziva interactions. If you have to work hard to create UST then ........ And obviously setting up a big storyline with the guy set lose in Mexico. Why such obvious telegraphing? Tim is looking good. They actually mentioned the weight loss a few episodes back. I missed the ep. I need to catch up. They have been pushing the Tony/Ziva tension a lot this season - I assume they are going somewhere with it, because it's one thing to have a continual undercurrent, and another to . . . have this major "overcurrent," for lack of a better word, and have it go nowhere. Especially with impulsive, aggressive characters like those two. Tim does look nice with the weight loss - though he's always been a cutie pie. I would like to see him and Abby get together.

Bad day. Due to the snow, my defense has been rescheduled for the DAY BEFORE I LEAVE THE COUNTRY. *sigh* Boo! Hiss! [When is that? You went back specifically do to the defense, yes. Do they not take the availability of the candidate into consideration when scheduling?]

I know it's a silly thing to bitch about. Doesn't even actually register on the "1 to 10 scale of annoying" because, for one thing, people won't get in accidents, etc. Just mildly disappointing since it's a rare thing for us. From the most reliable local website: No doubt we are going to see some snow. But how much? Yesterday, we talked about how when the precipitation begins as snow and ends as snow the forecast has a lot better chance of verifying (as opposed to when it is forecasted to start as rain and change over to snow). Since we are expecting one of those rare instances when it is expected start and end as snow, it is quite likely we’ll get our share.
However, we also explained yesterday that there will be two low pressure systems, one in the Gulf and one in the Ohio Valley, that will “split the snow in half” with the heaviest amounts passing both to our north and to our south. Below is today’s GFS model run. Notice the light blue areas below on the bottom chart coinciding with the two separate lows on the top chart. We will be in between. Therefore, I think that 1-2″ (many of us leaning towards 1″) will be the most likely amount seen, with 1-3″ possible in our extreme northern and eastern counties. This is what often happens. Monnie knows. So they not only get snow to our north and our east (higher elevations) but often to the south of us as well. Still, it might be enough to close the schools. And possibly even keep them closed on Friday because outside of highways and main thoroughfares we don't plow at all. Some areas get "brined" (like salting) but if there is any melt due to sun and then refreeze there are miles and miles of hills and curves on backroads and in the shade that school buses cannot traverse. Ah yes, we're experiencing the same thing right now. Were predicted to get more, but now they're saying maybe 1-2 inches, if that much. Happens every. single. time. You shouldn't be thinking about snow. You must concentrate all your thoughts and vibes and mojo toward tomorrow night's game!

When Paul calls them make sure he adds your name to the "is allowed to make changes and discuss the account" list -- for future issues. Good advice. Although in our case, it should be Sam, as I'd never, ever want to go in and talk to the telephone people, ever. Julia, argh. Verizon allowed us to have 4 -- so Jim, I, Carolyn and Allie are all allowed to make changes. Obviously, I only expect them to make changes to their part of the account but it is nice if they go into the store in Chicago that they have full "rights" to access the account.

Yesterday was the bad and the good... Flats on both the wife's and the son's cars ... but I didn't have to change them. Sewer line backed up ... but the cable company trenching behind the house admitted their responsibility and is writing me a check for the repairs. Compressor failed on the heat pump ... but it's covered by warranty and the "emergency heat" setting on the unit will get us through. Doctor believes I have a kidney stone ... well, not so much good but at least if the MRI confirms the diagnosis I'm on my way to improvement. WOW, that was quite a day - love the way you keep it all in perspective. Let us know what happens with the kidney stone. Yes, as you say, if the MRI confirms this, it is basically good news. It's a painful answer, but it's not a "serious" one.

Leaving the politics aside - when have I EVER said anything like THAT? And also, this is why, apparently, he didn't come to Thanksgiving or Christmas. He must have misinterpreted something that you don't even remember saying . . . did he give your mom any clue as to when you supposedly said this? You might be able to figure it out with enough clues. Or maybe he has mixed you up with someone else . . . in which case, you're gonna stay clueless. And what is doubly odd is that he felt so strongly about this that he didn't come to the holidays, but - assuming this is about an actual conversation with you - he must have never said a word to you during the conversation, about his upset. Because you'd remember a confrontation, I would think.

It's odd how you can say one thing and someone else has filters that interpret it to be something else entirely.

Well, we know the wheel of life turns and sometimes you are up and sometimes you are down, but it sounds like your wheel is going round and round/up and down crazy fast! Yay for AAA (or whomever changed the tires, responsible cable companies, warranties, emergency heat setting and hopefully the future quick painless resolution of kidney stones!

I've been buried - but with work (year end closing) rather than snow. It's deep around here in the eastern snowbelt but by me it;s only a couple of inches, thankfully. Miss you guys when I can't keep up with all the fun here. Thanks to those who posted birthday wishes. I did have fun. Sorry it's taken me so long to acknowledge. leftylady ps to Spring, your next project runway assignment - design a wardrobe for Nanucci. yes? pps to Monnie, see what we meant about the "fun" of snow wearing off quickly?
