I can't sleep. I think I'm having an anxiety attack. Crap. Tomorrow is going to SUCK. I didn't have an anxiety attack, but I didn't sleep well either. I usually have no problems sleeping, so I have no idea why I was tossing and turning all night. Blurgh. I must be getting better, I was awake from 3:30 until sometime after 6am. JUlia, and then awakened at 8am by the stomping of guy feet.

Sure looks that way. However, isn't this the last season for the show? Are we going to end with Freddie baby taking Jack's place and just leave it up in the air? I thought the show was going to have a feature film to cap it off, but it seems that's out the window. Don't know if I needed to put that under the spoiler button, but there you have it. ;D Maybe they'll have a spinoff called 25. That, in tandem with the casting spoiler, gives rise to all sorts of amusing speculations. Julia, possibly silly.

Congratulations to Onjel! I give you the fictional, Captain Awesome: And, his RL Doppelganger, Travis Stork, currently of the daytime TV show "The Doctors," previously of the Vanderbilt Emergency Room: [Maybe I should have used full body shots -- because then the resemblance is far more blatant -- both the same size and shape in blue scrubs. From a distance you can't see much difference at all. (would someone googling T.S. find this link?)

I must eat quickly and get ready for the tree service guy, AKA Toby.
About a quarter of the peach tree fell yesterday while Franklin and I were out shopping; it's right across the Witchazel Diane and the Pink Dawn viburnum, and sort of pointing at the study window, argh.

I suppose it's too much to hope that one of these days Kate will actually believe me when I tell her any works published in the U.S. before 1923 are in the public domain, regardless of whether the artist is well-known or not.

So far today I have, in addition to the regular morning routine: Set up the crockpot with pseudo-coq au vin for dinner. Sorted the laundry and got it processing. Walked to Ralphs, because we needed a few things and I wanted to get a walk in before the next storm. Added the bacon that I forgot to buy on Sunday to the crockpot. Taken care of a couple of niggling small worries. I was sure I'd forgotten some large financial transaction that would overdraw our account, because, well, I worry. I stupidly didn't think to use the ATM at the market, and the bank website was down when I tried it. But I was able to use the phone system and balance their records to mine, so all is well. I also made sure, because The Husband keeps forgetting to give me the receipt, that he used his credit card instead of his debit card to pay at Kinko's. That also took two tries because that system was down this morning the first time I checked. I still have to capture and crate the cats and drag them to the vet, but that's not for another hour. If I can't get Shadow in, though, I'll have to make her an appointment for next month's clinic and just take Patches this time. I hope they'll understand. Cats. I really should make a list of all my worries and see if there's anything I can do about them. If I do, though, and there are some I can't do anything about, I'll be worse off. What to do, what to do?

Silly and yumminess. I read where Keifer is still open to more Seasons, as long as Fox and the Fans want him. So.....

There are days when I feel like reporting Kate to the hive-mind of Tor editors for strict correction, so to speak. Julia,

Back from the cat-dentist. I went out to retrieve Shadow, caught her and put her in the carrier, far too early. Of course if I'd waited until the last minute, she would've gone up a tree or something and I would've had to leave her at home. Cats. Can't win. So I boxed up Patches, Emily helped me load them in the car, and got to the vet twenty minutes before our appointment, figuring I'd sit on the floor and talk to the growling boxes for a while. They were able to take us early, so that's done and we're home ahead of the storm. Everything was fine, and they want the cats back in four months. Anybody know, is that normal? It seems awfully frequent for cats with no teeth problems. Shadow is out in the patio, refusing to come in. Well, if she gets rained on, it won't be my fault (although she'll say it is).

Don't ask me; I've never had my cats to the dentist; we feed dry food and haven't seen any dental problems since the cat w/FIV died at 18. Life, Unexpected was watchable. Human Target was watchable. Mark Valley is always watchable. Just not sure I'll make time. And, just a personal reaction here but I really had a huge problem with: get engaged to one guy, spontaneously sleep with another (as if hormones are destiny and she was absolutely driven by her insatiable need to have sex with a guy she hadn't seen in 16 years, had only every had (one has to assume) had bad sex with previously and didn't even know anymore) and then go back and re-propose to the first. This really bothered me on a moral level, even though I know my attitudes toward extra-marital sex don't exactly jive with current cultural mores so I generally try to role with it. But ... didn't like that plot point AT ALL. Especially since I like the finance. He seems like a stand up guy and you know she didn't tell him about the sex. Excuse my judgmentalism, I"m probably not a "good fit" as a CW viewer. Well, I'm not sure you can generalize the one show to all of the CW (I hardly watch the CW at all though, so no expert here.) I agree that the story you describe is objectionable, though not on moral grounds, to me. What I mean is - people behave in crazy, not smart, sometimes nasty or immoral, ways.
If you're telling a story where someone does so, that is fine. What bugs me is dishonest portrayal . . . like you mention, where the portrayal is that the need is absolutely insatiable, she just has no choice . . . or her betrayal has no real consequences . . . etc.
I mean, that's why I liked Joss so much. His characters sometimes behaved in very disagreeable ways . . . but it was honestly portrayed - the motivations and consequences were true-to-life.
