Night of the Luchadors
The general premise matches Chris's info from FilmJerk.com. The episode revolves around the sole surviving member of a team of professional wrestlers, who back in the 1950's defeated a powerful Aztec warrior. Number Five, as he is named, works in the mailroom at Wolfram and Hart and has been for many years.
Number Five overhears Angel talking about the return of Tezcatcatl, the Aztec warrior whom the brother's slew, at the cost of all their lives but Number Five's. Interesting thing about Number Five, not only does he not have a name, but he has no face as well. He wears the wrestling mask that he wore in the ring.
Figuring that Angel is going to recruit him to fight the warrior, he attacks Angel at Wolfram and Hart and then runs off. Angel tracks him down at his house, and explains that wasn't his intention to have him help then, but it is now. There is a short scuffle, the old man is surprisingly strong. After things settle down, the old man weaves his tale, along with multiple flashbacks to the Luchadors heyday. The flashbacks also revealed that even back then, the Luchadors never removed their masks.
Back in the day, the Luchadors were much like Angel Investigations. They helped save people from supernatural creatures, demons and vampires. The showdown with the warrior was their greatest battle. After the warrior was defeated, and Number Five was the only one left standing, he couldn't get back into the champion groove. One day, a representative from Wolfram and Hart showed up, looking for some muscle. After doing a few jobs here and there, Number Five was relegated to the mail room.
Number Five also reveals why he doesn't care to help anymore, because the tale of their greatest battle is being played for comedy in local wrestling arenas. All he wishes is to die like his brothers, so he can be at piece.
Near the end of the episode, Angel is looking for Number Five because he has a talisman that the demon is after. He finds him in the cemetery, waiting for the demon warrior. Angel demands that he give him the talisman. Number Five wants to make sure the demon finishes the job, so he's swallowed the talisman.

For those interested: A clever group of BtVS cyberfans have created a virtual spin-off, called "the Watcher's Council". Their URL is: thewatcherscouncil.net/links.htmTheir 1st season starts next Tuesday night at 8:00 pm SHARPLY. (They've already asked members NOT to enter the site before 8 promptly. They've got a theme song for the series, and a promotional poster that uses a night shot of Cleveland (the setting for the show.) Looks like a fun site, and a nice way to continue the story.

This is in the new TV Guide now on sale.
Angel
Where We Left Off - Angel (David Boreanaz) and the gang had accepted nefarious law firm Wolfram & Hart's offer to take over its LA Branch. And Angel turned son Connor over to another family, while Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) remained in a coma.
New Blood - Buffy's Spike (James Marsters) returns to haunt Angel. The two "will be wrestling about a lot of issues, Buffy being one of them," says creator Joss Whedon, who adds that Sara Michelle Gellar will make an appearance. Cordy and Connor are out; a mysterious character, Eve, comes to work at the firm.
Matt Roush's Take - With Buffy gone, this recharged supernatural thriller is appointment TV for all self-respecting TV cultists.

Not too much that we don't already know about but I thought I would pass it along anyway (that's the spoiler whore creed in case you were wondering).
From leanne: Angel? Please! I'll be your best friend!
In episode six, the storyline is about an ancient Aztec demon and a group of brothers who fought him back in the '50s. One survived, only to be taken into the employ of Wolfram and Hart and then get forgotten in the mailroom. Angel needs the elderly man to give up a talisman that wards off the returning demon, but the man instead wants to be killed, wanting to join his dead brothers. There's a lot of dialogue about lone heroes, struggling in the fight for good, blah, blah, blah...
__________________________________________________________________________________
From seba_88: I heard James Marsters is doing a movie. Maybe the rumored nudity is for that.
That would kill me--I want my Spike skivviless. Though if it's on the big screen, we can see much more...hmmm. Tough one. I'm torn. I'm going to have to do muuuch, much more thinking about this. ___________________________________________________________________________________

'Let's just say we are setting the bar very high.' David Boreanaz checks in for a very rare and exclusive chat about what he's gonna deliver in season 5 of Angel, his plans for Spike and, last but not least, the truth behind those Buffy rumors.
The WB: Let's just cut to the chase. What can you tell us about season 5?
David Boreanaz: "We've been to some dark places, haven't we? (Laughing) And it's been extremely challenging for me personally and for everybody on the show. But we had to go through those places to get to where we are now. Going forward, I'd say our biggest challenge is in trying to meet the expectations we've set for the show. We are in the axis of evil now. We are actually running it ourselves. We have this powerful system at our disposal. Now we just have to figure out how to use those resources correctly. Let's just say we are setting the bar very high."
The WB: So, what's the deal with Spike?
DB: "He's playing in Angel's big world now. It was inevitable. Inside, he's really a big city guy. He had no choice but to get outta that small town. They are old, old friends. There's a lot of angst. There's a lot of conflict. There's a lot of humor. Needless to say, his return is going to make for some good hours this season."
The WB: Is Angel ever going to find true love again?
DB: "Well, Angel's love life is very sporadic. One moment of true happiness can lead to many souls being killed off very fast. (Laughing) It's up and down. He doesn't really have a prescription for it. His one true love is Buffy. Always will be, and, uh, it's going to be difficult for him to find somebody who can top that."
The WB: But Angel will try to top that, right?
DB: "Who knows? We're definitely going to experiment with him in the fifth season. We're going to be throwing characters at Angel. None have worked, so far. At least not like they have worked with Buffy."
The WB: Speaking of which: Will she or won't she be jumping into the mix?
DB: "I think she will come back. And I think you'll see Spike and Angel heading right back into that love triangle thing."
The WB: That sounds intense.
DB: "Angel is not going to be as heavy as it was in the past. It's really a show that has everything now. There's action, there's adventure, there's love, there's romance. It's going to be packed with quick jabs rather than long punches this year."
The WB: And what about Connor?
DB: "Last we saw him, I basically gave him his family, the mother and father he always wanted. Angel is now making a natural progression away from his son, but that's not to say that he won't pop up. He still doesn't know who Angel is, so that makes it interesting."
The WB: Rumor has it you are going to be directing this season too?
DB: "It's true. I will be directing an episode at some point this year. It will be a first for me. I'm not sure yet which one it will be. My guess is it will be closer to mid-season. Will it be a pattern? I don't think so. I think I'll stick to the acting."
The WB: Has parenthood changed your approach to Angel and your career in general?
DB: "It has made me feel more complete. Watching your child develop every second of the day is the best thing in the world. It makes life simple, which it should be."

Boreanaz Talks New Angel Babes
David Boreanaz, who returns as the vampire with a soul in The WB's Angel, told SCI FI Wire that two new women will add bite to the show's upcoming fifth season: new office secretary Harmony (Mercedes McNab) and Wolfram & Hart liaison Eve (Sarah Thompson). Boreanaz added in an interview that the women would replace the comatose Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) and beheaded Lilah (Stephanie Romanov), both of whom won't be back. "They're similar in nature, but also quite different," Boreanaz said.
Boreanaz added, "Cordelia's character took off in a direction that was different from what anyone probably expected. Things got very dark with the love interest story between Angel and Cordelia and with the whole Cordelia-Connor [Vincent Kartheiser] storyline. Harmony will be a little bit more like Cordelia was at the beginning of Buffy than Cordelia was on Angel. Harmony is there to spice things up a little."
Boreanaz said that McNab's Harmony—by virtue of being a vampire and having a history with Spike on Buffy the Vampire Slayer—will bring an "edge" to Angel. Eve, by contrast, will be less harsh and abrasive than Lilah, the star said. "I think we'll get to know Eve a little bit more," Boreanaz said. "She's got many more problems behind her eyes. But you can definitely draw similarities between Cordelia and Harmony and Lilah and Eve. And the most important thing is that all four characters will and have brought such great things to the show." Angel begins its fifth season Oct. 1 and will air Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Harmony as a similar replacement for Cordelia? Puh-lease! Harmony is a fun character and McNab a delightful actress; but give me a break! Cordelia had an excellent brain when she chose to use it; and Harmony is up there with Glory as one of the dimmest female bulbs on the Jossverse shelf. (though Glory was smarter than Harm, Glory had an edge in low cunning). A shame those two gals never got together; they would have enjoyed going shopping before Glory became irritated and blew Harmony's head off...Maybe Drusilla could use a new shopping buddy?

Here it is . . . a much more detailed promo than what was airing before. www.sparklies.org/ats5/sept_18_promo.zipThe filed is zipped. So you need WinZip or a comparable program to open it. You can then either extract it to your hard drive, or just open it directly in winzip. It looks like it was aired at the end or during Smallville last nite.

You can do either. If you open it, then just double click on the mpg file and it should play. On my computer it opened up my real player. You should be able to play it with windows media if you open it up with that player. Thanks Besty L, That's a cool promo. The promo sounds more interesting than the spoilers have. The next two weeks are gonna seem like 2 years!

tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve_main/1,1002,274|83664|1|,00.html Here's a link to the TV gal comments on the first 2 episodes of Angel. She wasn't too impressed by the first episode, but she loved the second - because of SPIKE - of course! It's gonna be a good season.
