Yeah, i hear you all. Thanks for the nice comments, but I'll see what I can do about it. I am not all stuck on that picture...I was jsut looking for a way to spruce it up a bit...to catch people's eyes when they first hit the page. You know, that sudden flash to set the tone. Before we looked a little too stodgy. We need something that both shows our depth, but also shows our lively fun side. *grumbles* you think it would be easy huh? Anyway, irregardless...oh wait..I jsut ticked off a S'cubie but can't rembember who now *G*...*coughs* Regardless, I am going to both "shrink the pic and reduce its detail so that it both loads faster and doesnt obscure the entry button. //And yes, I really do like the song AND James performance of it. // Don't mean to sound like I'm dissin' James' performance. Frankly, it did make me want to hear more, like maybe something from Ghost of the Machine. And the lyrics were good, too. I dunno, it was something in the pacing that just felt a little off to me. Out of all the songs in the musical, that was the one that worked the least for me. Although to put it into perspective, do know that I think that speaks volumes more about the quality of the other songs than it does that one particular one. Clearly my favorite is the duet between Amber Benson and Tony Head as Tara and Giles lament their respective decisions to leave Willow and Buffy. It's so short, but they sing so well together and it paces so beautifully. I also keep telling myself I'm going to buy a copy of Music for Elevators. And for the record, I'd nearly worn out the bootleg CD I'd made of the musical when they finally released the official CD version (although the official CD is all cleaned up and has none of the dialog or sound effects, so I still have my bootleg). Both get a lot of play, right along with my copies of the TV show soundtrack and the movie soundtrack

Of course, I love Spike's song just because James sings it and I LOVE his gravel/velvet voice, but yes, Joss must not be a rock kind of guy, because it should have had more punch, been tougher. Sarah was scared to sing, and wanted to use a 'stunt' voice, but when she read all the lyrics and realized the story points were going to be sung by someone else she changed her mind and asked to do it herself. She'd never sung before. I thought she did a great job, very pretty voice. Plus, my range. :-) Willow also sang a line in the 'I've got a theory' song. 'I've got a theory, some kid is dreaming, and we're all stuck inside his wacky broadway nightmare.' My FAVORITE pieces are: Xander and Anya's wonderful retro pastiche song and dance and 'Walk Through The Fire'. The way all those voices and lines converge and play against each other was bloody brilliant IMNSHO.

Thanks for sticking up for me. And for reminding me of Willow's other lyric. That girl sung almost as many words as Dawn .....I already mentioned my favorite -- the reprise of "Under Your Spell", as sung by Amber and Tony. Other favorites for me are Sarah's opening number "Going Through The Motions", "Walk Through The Fire", Amber's solo version of "Under Your Spell", Tony singing "Standing In Your Way", and "Where Do We Go From Here". Heck, pretty much the whole bloomin' soundtrack. And I LOVED it when Spike sang, "I'm free if that bitch dies, I better help her out".

Wish I had one of those damn edit buttons, so I could stop having to do followups and embarrassing myself. I meant to call James' band Ghost of the Robot, vice Ghost of the Machine. For some reason, I keep thinking of the famous album by The Police (which was arguably their best work, as a group or solo). Once again, I have managed to e mbarrass myself in a public forum.

I was partway through a plot summation on Episode 19 a couple of months back, and I had this moment where I just couldn't stand to read any more. I made a vow at that moment to be completely spoiler free the rest of the way. I have made good on that commitment as of 1:17 AM, April 23. That's why I call it 3 1/2. I pretty much know half of what's going to happen next week. I should have cut my spoilers off in the middle of First Date. Then I could have called myself spoiler-free for 8 1/2 episodes as a tribute to Fellini. Of course that would've just been sad. Good night to all.

Don't worry about it Dave, I keep wanting to call it that too...its also a popular reference to AI in a computer network and since I Game Master a Shadowrun game most sundays(a cyberpunk roleplaying game), the "ghost in the machine" crops up allll the time.

I've said that IMHO, I read as "I'm a Ho." IMNSHO is "I'm a no-show." Just thought you'd like to know. Nan

We are in the low numbers, aren't we? And sorry about the typo nickname, David. I suppose we do now know one another well enough to be trading nicknames, so I won't protest if you come up with one for me. DIBBLE, I've found, lends itself to innumerable embarrassing semi-variations. Nan, not so much. Though about 1/3 of the time I end up typing it as "Mam." Gotta have that respect.... Nan

I did wonder when I became Davie all of the sudden. Nobody has ever called me that before, except for Billy Joel, of course.

Vlad, to paraphrase, I would love James singing if he sang to a block of cement... which he kind of does in that alley scene.

I'm not going to make Vlad post yet another revised essay for this one song, but don't you think that one line sort of sums up the whole relationship between Spike and Buffy? "I'm free if that bitch dies, I better help her out ..."
