I feel like closing out ScoopMe with 30,000 Buffy posts. Help me out here, people.

Rusty said, "After the librarian found our secret stash of Ebulgence Chronicles (stuffy pratt), we were kicked out of the Watcher's Council for 'unseemly' behavior. "
Well you just had the wrong stuffy pratt, I mean librarian. If you had had me for a librarian (which I am, MLS and all) I would never have ratted you out. I might have stolen your Chronicles, however. Just for preservation's sake, you understand.

I agree with Sue that we should try to close out the Buffy Board with 30,000+ posts. We only need 55 more at this time. If this group uses this site for another day, we can do that easily.

Thank you all for the lovely birthday greetings. I enjoyed the cake and the party items. Ah, the virtues of a virtual cake. I ate it all! And guess what? there's still more cake for each of you to share with me. Any flavor you want. It's the best cake I've ever had for my birthday. (My diet thanks you, too.) Well, I'll never be 28 again. Alexandra (peeking sideways at the S'cubies. Wonder if they bought that?)

*kicks away a stray tumble weed*
So, did anyone here actually get a chance to read the Rebuttal to the Greater Capacity of Good that WAS posted on The Buzz? I just read Tanya's sort-of-apology for it. Now I'm curious as to what it said. I'm all for a good debate and wish she hadn't removed it so I could see if it had valid points or not.

Alright - here it is. My contribution to the 30,000 goal.
I want to read the rebuttal article on the buzz. Did they take it off? Lee Hollins

Rae, I think its always a shame when opposition is silenced. Voice your disagreement, do what you feel as an individual to show that you disagree, but a de facto forcing of the buzz to remove the article, I think, flies in the face of what Joss has always tried to do, which is to give us food for thought to analyze and debate (thus disagree about) for years.

I've got FX Buffy going in the background, New Moon Rising (?) just ended.
It reinforces one of the things I love about Willow (and the Buffy writers) - Willow loves people foremost for who they are, their souls, if you will. The outside appearance (i.e. gender) is secondary. I do love Willow. She inspires such love and loyalty in her friends.
Just doing my bit to up the post count...

Here's the URL which will get you Tanya's explanation: www.the-buzz.com/b_7_21c.htmlI never saw the rebuttal (which she seems to say was an email from someone who is "pro-Angel"). Amazing that she could be unaware of the Angel/Spike "wars" out there. So: the buzz published the orginial article, which set off the Angelists to respond by email, published one of the emails, which set off any Spikeaholics. Too bad. Is somebody emailing Tanya and inviting her to visit us--just to reassure her that there can actually be mature and reasoned disagreement on at least one board?

Sue:
I did email Tanya to let her know that I appreciate her posting the "controversial" articles and that I hope she reposts the rebuttal argument. I think it's great that she posts those type of articles because they make you think about your own views.
However, I forgot to mention our website. I'm off now to email her again to tell her about the S'cubies.
And away I go.....

Here is a copy of the email I sent to Tanya telling her about our group: //Tanya: I neglected to mention about a group that I belong to that you might be interested in. We call ourselves the Soulful Spike Society (S'cubies for short) and we have our own website and posting board. Our website can be found at: www.geocities.com/scubiefan . At the website, there is a link to our posting board (it's in the upper left-hand corner on the "What's New" page). Yes, our name is the Soulful Spike Society but you do not have to be a Spike-oholic to come and play. We have Willow fanatics, Cordelia lovers, Xander worshippers, even a Kennedy-lover (we're still trying to figure out that appeal!). We have thought-provoking essays, fantastic episode analyses, and absolutely wonderful fan fiction among other things on our site. These people are some of the most intelligent, warm, thoughtful, gracious people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing and I am so glad to be a part of this group. We welcome all to come visit us - like I said earlier, you don't have to be a Spike-lover at all. Hell, I'm a HUGE B/A 'shipper! The only thing we ask is to show consideration and respect to the posters. We all met on the ScoopMe site several months ago and formed the S'cubies because several of our members felt like they were always attacked and put down on the episode board on that site because of their leanings toward Spike. We do not criticize anyone for their ideas - in fact, we have several debates all the time about various thing but we manage to debate and still remain cordial. We may not all agree but that's the beauty of this group. There are so many varying viewpoints and we all learn from one another. Lest you think we are some old fuddy-duddies, believe me - we're not! These are some of the funniest people I have ever encountered. They make me smile and laugh on a daily basis. So...to sum up, I just wanted to let you know that there is a group of Buffy/Angel fans out there who love to discuss the show and any and everything related to it. If you would like to check us out, please do so. We pretty much post 24 hours a day. Again, our website is: www.geocities.com/scubiefan and the link to our posting board is scubiefan.proboards18.com/index.cgi Feel free to visit anytime! Lee Hollins// I'll let y'all know if I hear anything from her! Edited By Lee Hollins at 6/4/2003 12:05:00 PM.

Anne - Yep. Willow is very kind and giving and sensitive. She is a great friend to all her friends.
Her temporary downfall came due to her insecurities - her need to seem special and not just be (as she perceived it) a nerdy nothing all her life, a sidekick to Buffy, who couldn't even keep dog-boy happy, etc. That attitude allowed evil to get a toe hold and when Tara died, her feeling of emptiness as valuelessness became so great that evil took her over for awhile.
384 Re: Re: Willow & Love 6/4/2003 3:20:18 PM Diane U Willow's trip into Darth Rosenbergland has been blamed on her grief over Tara's death. I sometimes wonder if Willow's fall into evil didn't stem from some unconsious guilt over not being able to protect Tara--or bring her back as she had done for Buffy.
I'm also not sure what Willow had learned from Buffy's death. She was devastated when she learned she'd torn her best friend out of heaven. Then she attempted to do the same thing with Tara.
My contribution to the needed 55.

The reason I'm recommending this short story is because it explores Buffy's immediate reaction to Spike's denial of her declaration of love and her reasons for NOT protesting or arguing with him. Buffy's silence, her apparent acceptance of Spike's pronouncement appeared to me appeared to imply her tacit agreement but here it is given quite a different interpretation, one that made me feel a whole lot better. The story's called "What I Mean" by Merryweather. It's a five minute read: allaboutspike.com/fic.html?id=529And here ends my contribution to the 30,000 goal. deborah

Just had to post a big THANK-YOU for recommending that fan-fic goodie. Made me feel a lot better too about that last scene between Buffy and Spike.

5:13:04 PM I like the new board, but I also like seeing all the headings at once on this board. The techno-wizzes are still working out the bugs, and they might still come up with a more Scoopme like format. Some of them think it will spoil the flow of the board if they break the headings down more, but I think it will make it more postee-friendly. If you could see the separate subjects, you could skip stuff you might have already read, and search easier for discussion threads.
Would hate to see more people leave the board before it has a chance to develop.
IMHO
