If there is one, if you promise to answer to Meg, Margaret, Hey You or pretty much anything other than the name of a certain psychology professor from UC Sunnydale who is really the head of a super-secret government-run demon-hunting firm, Diane promises to be civil. Same goes for any lurker who answers to Warren, Ted, Billy, Adam, Glory, Master, First Evil, Mr. Trick, The Mayor .....

Yeah, both my daughters did NOT appreciate Ring of Endless Light. The Narnia and L'Engle books need a Peter Jackson-type (the Tolkien director), to do them right. And I don't think it's Disney made for TV versions!

Sorry Sue. It's a good thing y'all can't hear me, cos I'm singing Tom Petty's "The Waiting Is The Hardest Part", and I don't sing all that well.

Hey! What's up? When did we decide we couldn't discuss the latest ep until everyone had seen it? I thought we decided to just make sure the post title said "Tonight's ep discussion" or some such thing, like we did last new ep . . . did I miss something?

Spring, I'm not up on all the rules. I know I was yelled at once for making a comment about an episode before someone had actually seen it.

Pangs did have some funny moments (the funniest to me was the one I did mention - I loved James' delivery on "I'm too hungry to tell you everything"). And I loved the way they made us feel sorry for him with that sort of Oliver Twist feel to his pathetic little plight. I am sure to miss mentioning people's favorite moments now and then - and I encourage everyone to mention any oversight - others are sure to miss the mention also, and will be glad to read a few words about it. Definitely, Something Blue is a hilarious episode - it is all about (well not ALL, but mostly) the funny. I just rewatched it tonight. I laughed too much to really watch it with an analytical eye. ST SEBASTIAN: Man, I had no idea I had so much Catholic schoolgirl left in me. I guess that early indoctrination sticks with you. I just couldn't turn off the incredulous, offended reaction I had when I hit those erotica web sites. But I have to hand it to the writer - St Sebastian is perfect for Spike - great touch.

You should talk, Spring. For the cover of a manual of procedures, I went looking on the internet for pictures of...nurses. Until then I had no idea that nurses, variously clothed or unclothed, were major sexual fantasy objects/themes. Whee-hoo! Nan

My favorite Pangs moment -- Spike tied up in the chair, the battle with the Indians is full underway, and he's riddled with arrows. I forget his exact quote, but I remember thinking it was hilarious.

OK then - I'm plunging in! My understanding is our agreement is "you can post on a new ep once you've seen it, but you must make it clear in the subject header." I mostly enjoyed the episode, and it was no surprise to see the mini-mutiny. I was glad to see Buffy react with maturity in leaving without a fuss and being good (non-bitchy) in what she said to Faith. I have no doubt they will all come together in the end. This is sort of the opposite of what happened in Season 4 - Buffy threw them all out in Yoko Factor, but they all had to come together to make it happen. I am very curious about what Spike found. Sure sounded like something Buffy (or is it Faith who is "she") will need. ALSO - Gilroy, where Giles sent Spike, is - I think - the Garlic capital of the world. I mean, they grow tons of garlic there. They are known for it. They have a Garlic Festival every year.

Only half an hour more till ALMOST all of us have seen it. I'm content to wait. If somebody wants to follow David's good idea and get their ideas down in Word (or whatever) they can do that and then all leap to post them at 12:01 EDT. OK? Nan

Since the shrinkwrap has been busted ... Wow. I’ll say it again. Wow. This was perhaps my favorite episode this season. I still give “Conversations With Dead People”, “Him”, “Selfless”, “Storyteller” and the first one with Cassie their props, but this one – well, there was a lot that happened in this episode I’ve been waiting to happen for months. STUFF I LIKED: FAITH. This wasn’t so much about Faith, but about the dynamic that developed around Faith in this episode. The way the SiTs and Dawn rallied around Faith at the Bronze with the cops. Her conversation about reading people with Wood. The comment to Kennedy about trading chips for cigarettes and a bar of soap. Most of Eliza’s time on screen was very subtle and understated, but it resonated so powerfully through everyone around her at any given moment. There’s no doubting that even a quiet not-wanting-to-lead Faith is still a very powerful force. And I love how effectively the writers have developed her. She’s not the rogue slayer anymore; her experiences in Los Angeles with Angel, and in prison have changed the girl significantly. She doesn’t have to say it like she did with Wood, it was there already – she’s changed. But at the same time, it’s still very much Faith. There is still something under the surface that screams that she is STILL the Faith we all know and love. Great stuff. BUFFY. Again, not so much her, but the dynamic developing around her. She’s been spending so much time complaining about how the SiTs aren’t living up to their potential, but then she hasn’t really tested them except a few times that were way out of their league. The battle with the cops at the Bronze was great for them – gave them confidence against a real enemy, and they used that confidence to rally around Faith when Buffy started to get preachy one more time. And oh, I was so waiting for Buffy to use that “Because I’m the Slayer” line with Faith in earshot – hello, no you are not THE Slayer. You are A Slayer. If you want to get technical – Faith is THE Slayer, and has been since you passed the torch to Kendra and Kendra passed the torch to Faith. When the SiTs rallied against Buffy and for Faith, well that’s a moment that was long overdue. I’m sorry it ended the way it did – it would have been nice if Buffy could have followed for a while, ate a little humble pie, and then she and Faith become sort of co-leaders, because each has something to bring to the table. Buffy needs to accept she doesn’t have all the answers, to listen to some others once in a while. Hey, perhaps whatever had a hold of those cops has also got a hold of Buffy, but Faith being new back in Sunnydale, isn’t as affected so she’s clearer headed. DAWN AND THE SiTs. Loved the battle with the cops. I’ll say it again – LOVED the battle with the cops. Even Dawn sprouted a set of brass ones. And when Dawn stood up and threw Buffy out … wow. It was harsh, but like I said, it’s been a long time coming. And I have a feeling Faith is going to be a better leader than she gives herself credit. Mainly because she encourages others to follow her, whereas Buffy demanded it. Faith took charge in Los Angeles when taking on Angelus, and even had Connor eating out of the palm of her hand because of strength of will against him – she didn’t get ugly, but he didn’t take long to figure out she was boss. The others, especially Gunn, didn’t need the firm approach and never got it. Buffy always went for the demanding, and then the bemoaning when failure was eminent. And the last thing I liked … CLEM. That man just doesn’t get enough screen time. STUFF I DIDN’T LIKE ….Having to sit through Xander’s eye one more time. That was excruciating. And Xander felt broken; not that he won’t bounce back, he’s resilient, but he wasn’t wisecracking Xander, laugh in the face of danger then hide until it goes away, yellow crayon speech, country music the music of pain Xander – he was broken. And poor Willow too. The scene in the hospital – God, those two love each other so much. CALEB. Can somebody please kick this jerk’s ass already? I have to give Nathan Fillion and the writers their props on him. I liked Mal on Firefly, I hate Caleb. Caleb gets under my skin more than any villain on Angel or Buffy; I don’t like him and when he dies I want to urinate on this man’s grave.Herein endeth the lesson. Grr, Argh.
