No - before that. I can't remember why Jack is a topic of conversation, but Sawyer and Kate are on the beach, and he says something about how he could be a doc too with some antiseptic and bandaids, or something like that. And she immediately gets her hackles up, saying he shouldn't compare himself to JACK. It just betrayed, to me, that she has put a halo on Jack. Sawyer - a mass of insecurites underneath it all, natch. oh I loved that! I think It was after Sayid left Kate and Sawyer up there to light the missil and do whatever with the ...whatever it was to boost the signal. Sawyer said 'give me some bandaids and peroxide' - it made me laugh!

Scott/Steve is "inconclusive." They look very similar, and even their voices are not dissimilar...but witht he shaky camera work and th shortness of the scene, it's almost impossible to tell. Vlad the fact that they pointed out which was which sounded very twin-y to me. I vote 'twins'!

Vlad Just as I suspected. The whole way it came off - "I'm Scott!" It just reminded me of the way a twin responds when someone confuses them. I mean - I think most people would say, "My name is Scott, not Steve." But twins don't do that, they are used to being confused with the other and just say "I'm Scott." Also, something is going on in the ep about brothers and brotherhood and uniqueness and looks vs strength.

Sawyer is Lost's Spike - he is so totally Spike - he's hurting and we'll find out why maybe next week. Sun needs to tell her husband she can speak English soon. At least she didn't go put on the hot clothes this week. Michael has an important role! So far We have a doctor, a soldier, a construction worker/engineer, a musician, ...even Shannon did her part. And wow...our leads talk offscreen to the nameless ones - a couple of whom got names this week! And Locke is God. At least he thinks so, and I was willing to go along with it this week. Loved how Sun just so straightforwardly said "It's hot". Jin is gonna definitely start seeing some of the real Sun the more time passes! They really do have a good mixture of practical skills don't they? I was really glad to see them give Michael something productive and smart to do. Something tells me they're gonna find increasing need for someone who knows about construction/engineering. Names! New names! Of course, I don't remember any of them or their faces, but still! More people! ;D Lola

**nods nods nods** Yeah. Very good scene with the brother in Australia. Now that he's all clean and settled, you can just see him looking at little brother with slightly condecending pity. I mean, yeah, offer to let him stay with you for a few weeks but don't actually address anything real. Lola You can be an asshole on drugs and you can be a straight asshole... your asshole-ishness does not necessarily correspond to your addiction status. However, I think that his brother was offering to help. And I think he also let charley go on his way, becasue as Locke pointed out, you have to do it on your own time, in your own way, or you won't succeed. Vlad

Sawyer said 'give me some bandaids and peroxide' - it made me laugh! Yes - I liked the scene too. Sawyer has a nice, smart-ass sense of humor - and he's really got Kate's number too. He's basically accusing Kate here of thinking of Jack as some great big hero, when in truth, they aren't all that different from each other. I think Jack would agree with Sawyer.

I didn't think of Andy Griffith - I thought of Tom Sawyer... Something Charlie said tonight reminded me of Ozzy Ozbourne at one point ...he said something like 'I'm a bloody rock god'...? Made me think of Ozzy's 'I'm the f*****g Prince of Darkness!' And when he yelled "I'm the bloody rock god!" all the rocks fell down. ;D Lola

I was very disappointed in Sawyer tonight. That he didn't tell Kate about the cave collapse, that he let her needle him into "pulling a Xander." (No offense Rob! *wink*) And then, later, when he let it "accidently" slip... jsut what was he trying to gain there? He had to know that was going to drive a wedge. Of course, it can be looked at in a different light. Perhaps he was regretting his decision and nowthathe knew he could do Kate's job with hte radio, was letting her know so she could take off tothe caves? Grrrr Arrrgg... Sawyer... you are more complex everytime I think about you and your actions. Vlad which makes him even more interesting! If I'd closed my eyes everything he said could have been said by Spike to Buffy- even the letting it slip about Jack. Just a careless slip of the tongue maybe... None of these people were what they seem on the island. Which makes me wonder what Sayid's story will be - because he looks pretty darn noble and together...

Hmmm. That's interesting, because I didn't get the googly-eyed feel from it myself. But I can see where you're coming from. I wonder if Kate doesn't see something of herself in Sawyer, or think maybe she could become like him given the right circumstances. Remember, right after the crash she didn't run to help the others, and Jack had to talk her into sewing him up (not that I blame her--I'd have blanched at that task as well). Or perhaps her crime was the result of behaving like Sawyer is now in some way, and that's why she dislikes his behavior so. Or maybe she's just got the hots for him but doesn't want to admit it. And Jack can be a bit . . . pure sometimes. And tends to put his ideas out there as if they are the only ones and assume others will just agree. So I can see that putting up Kate's back sometimes. But really, both Jack and Sawyer act the way they do because they really aren't very sure of themselves, it seems to me. Whereas Sayid has confidence in himself. Lola

...this episode did not, in fact, begin with a shot of the featured character's eye as all the others have so far. But we panned over to a shot of Charley's red-rimmed eyes within moments.

Yes... the differences between Charley and his brother, and also the "difference between us aint that big, Sweetheart" coming from Sawyer. As Locke said "Having choices, making decisions based on more than instinct is that separates you from him <the boar> " which implies we sorta start in the same place and become who our choices made us.

And when he yelled "I'm the bloody rock god!" all the rocks fell down. ;D Lola see? I was so into the Ozzy comparison I didn't notice the rockgod and rocks falling down significance...and it has to be, in order to go along with what we've seen in all the other episodes.

Vlad Yes - also - butterfly vs moth comparison by Locke (butterfly gets the attention, but moth is actually stronger and swifter - something like that) And Charlie's "brother" saying he was the pretty one out front who would get the attention, but Charlie was the one who had the song-writing/musical talent. By the way: Did everyone think they were actually brothers? I had this feeling they were just calling themselves brothers, thought of themselves as brothers - but weren't actually brothers. And how about Charlie being so religious? Nice touch and nice depth added to the character. That confession scene was great.
