Very nice review, Becky! I loved the way you compared and contrasted the two Charlie plots. I feel the flashbacks always, in some way, are telling us something about the events on the island so it is important to see what one is saying about the other. In particular, I loved the way you focus our attention from the very first scene. By returning to that theme of light and dark – day and night – it not only gave me an insight into what the flashback is telling us about the island happenings (“is he really seizing the day or just continuing in darkness”; " ‘Why did you lie to me? Why would you keep me in the dark? I'm already in the dark’ "; “Charlie's final scene with Claire, the torchlight is bright on Claire's face when she tells him, "I want to trust you." But it's not yet the full light of day”; etc.) but it really fits with the overall theme of light and dark that the entire season has been using (Locke and his light and dark game pieces; each of the characters having a touch of the “light” and the “dark”; even the settings and cinematography has been making great use of the blazing bright days on the beach, the half light of the jungle, the darkness of night or cave contrasting with blazing fires, etc.). I loved how you pointed out instances of this use of light and dark settings, both on the island and in flashback (such as the dark bar, etc.). Man, makes me think Vlad was on to something with his whole "day" thing, huh? I also really enjoyed your mention of the uses of the phrase “the others”. I’m very intrigued by the fact that the characters are using it for different groups within the survivors and for the “others” out there somewhere in the jungle. As you of so cleverly said: “We have met “the others” and they are us”. I think the writers are really trying to show us how each new group of people that lands on the island are affected – how they either try to fight what is happening or change themselves, but in some way, they all become “other” than what they were before. Eetah on the appreciation for Jin and Sun, sadness over the lack of Hurley, the desire to know what the heck is really up with Locke and a curiosity about Charlie’s shooting ability. Again – wonderful job! Lola “Little Miss Armed and Dangerous” “Help? Moi?” “How sweet . . . Why don’t you two just go get a room right now?” **snerk, snicker** ;D

Boy, she looks like shit.
Amnesia?
Retrograde amnesia since she was on the plane.
Been on the island almost a month
Why is Jin asking Sun all these questions? Does he suspect she can understand English?
Claire was gone for almost 2 weeks
Make sure you don't tell Claire you read her diary, Charlie.
Ethan's the Bad Guy.
Charlie's laying it on a little thick, but he is genuinely sweet.
Ah, the life of a drug addict.
Listen to Sayid, you guys.
How nice it must be to not be involved in the sanity that surrounds us.
Must be nice to be able to ignore Charlie's rambling
RE: Jin getting felled by the rock. Ha! That was funny.
Ethan's back!
Managerial decisions, who's in the loop?
John's plan vs Locke's plan.
The Others according to Jin and Sun
The Others according to Claire
Dude, lying to victims never helps.
Poor Boone, out of the loop.
This guy looks familiar.
Protestant Reformation? What a terrible name for a band.
Ah, this is after the fall out with his brother
Driveshaft's been broken up for a year
Charlie's chance to turn himself around.
Dream sequence?
It's Vincent!
Poor random dude is dead. Scott, not Steve.
Nice eulogy. Sorry I kept calling you Steve, man. Hee. Scott we barely never knew ya.
I just wanted to take care of you.
He's gonna sell the suit for drugs.
Dad's got the fix in.
We're nothing more than a bunch of scared idiots with sharp sticks. Yep.
Introducing the guns.
Nice shot of the gun over Locke's crotch.
Oh, this is not going to go well at all.
Ewwwwwwwwwwww!!!!
Recruiting Sawyer
Back in the Old Days. Like a month ago. ;D
Yay for Sawyer insisting Kate be included. I guess everyone knows her "I don't know guns" bit was a lie?
How is Charlie going to screw this up?
Rain means something bad will happen.
I'm so scared that Claire will fall and hurt her baby.
So that's how he screws this up.
Why did you do it, Charlie? Because he deserved to die.
And that's how he scews this up.
Why did you take the job, Charlie? I wanted to be respectable. I wanted you to think I could take care of you.
You'll never take care of anyone. Burn!!!
I remember peanut butter. So would I, Claire, so would I.
I want to trust you.
