Who do you think Desmond means when he asks "Are you him"?
I think it is Hurley. Just Spec.
The guy Hurley got the numbers from may be the one Desmond replaced. Probably went nuts from the loneliness.
We have nothing about him until he won the lottery.

So, interesting thing--the shark that was stalking Michael and Sawyer may not have been an ordinary shark. Heck, it may not have been a shark at all. Check out this screen capture of its tail as it swims in front of the camera:

I remember someone, I think it was maybe ?Wendy? mentioning this at s'cubiefest - but I hadn't gone back to check my tape yet. This is just so bizarre and cool. ;D

Lost 2x02 ________ I'm confused as to why Sawyer was swimming one handed. The gun is toast dude. I don't know of any pistol that would work after sustaining that amount of water. Infact the only gun I know on the planet that would maybe still fire a round after having that much water on it is the AK-47. Someone correct me if i'm wrong. I like the actor who plays Mike. He was good in 'Oz' (gotta love HBO). Sharks, argh I hate sharks. Sawyer is tough. Bullet out with his bare hands. Loved Locke's little 'box' speech whilst the guy has a gun to his chest. "Hell bluebeard blew us up because they wanted your kid" - haha The box cate took the chocolate from said 'Candy' which means that whoever put it their or wrote on the box was American. In turn this makes me think that the bunker and whoever employed that man must have a link to America. Although he himself isn't American I think it must have some relation. Those numbers again! and beeping. Oooh. I like Desmond So the Shark has the same tattoo desmond has on his work uniform thing. Told you the gun wouldn't work! Ok so it did. I was wrong A polar bear teddy!? hmmm. Think this was an error in the filming but if you look in the far left distance when Mike is crying on the bit of the raft that's left. Just when Sawyer asks "You alright Mike?" you can see a boat. So Jin is alive, but he's tied up and in a panic. Did they take him when they took walt? or did he wash up and someone found him? So we see a bit of the 'others' and they look like zombies with sticks with nails attached.

I have just watched the whole series again and there were a couple of things that struck me which related to this episode.
Firstly I hadn't remembered Walt saying when the raft was first being built "What if a shark gets you" or words to that effect. Have Walt's suggestions involving animals once again come to pass?
Secondly when Sawyer says to Michael that the others were after Walt he was presumably referring to Rousseau's statement that they wanted the child. However, when Rousseau first arrived on the beach in season 1 she made no mention of the others wanting a child. In fact the raft set sail shortly after Rousseau's visit and all she had talked about was the pillar of smoke and them being in danger. It was later when she was alone with Sayid and Charlie that she made the statement about "the child" which they assumed was Turniphead but was in fact Walt. So Sawyer could not have heard it. How, then, did he make his deduction?
The final thing that struck me was Walt's dad at the airport on the telephone saying "He's not supposed to be mine" That seemed a strange thing to say about Walt. Is there a chance Walt isn't actually his?

Is there a chance Walt isn't actually his? Good catch on the fact that Walt brought up sharks. Now he's identified with two of the scary Dharma project related animals we've seen - the polar bear and the shark. I sure don't think it's coincidence! I can't decide if Sawyer talking about the Others wanting a kid is just a continuity mix up or if it's supposed to mean something, but I'd bet it's more likely to be just a continuity glitch. Very intriguing thought about Walt possibly not being Michael's . . . . hmmmmmm.
