Who else is thinking no one else can see Dave? Is he The First? Let's watch and see if he picks up anything. I'm still waiting for the scene where they all touch him. **pouts**

Hurley doesn't know the guy's name who broke his leg, because Hurley's not the creator. Just like God doesn't know how long they've been on the island? Oh- KISSAGE for Hurley and Libby!! And if Libby was in the hospital, then maybe she's not an evil Other, but just someone that fell for him in the hospital, stalked him to Australia and ended up on the same doomed plane! Which is so way cuter and sweeter than being an icky Other.

I guess maybe Libby got cured of her mental illness the way Locke got cured of his physical disability, and possibly Jin got cured of his infertility? Perhaps the island is Shambala/Shangri-La? A place where people are cured of their infirmities, even of aging, where humanity is perfected and technologies gathered and saved against the day when the human race faces exticntion. Tibetans call these places beyuls. Perhaps Hanso Corp is in the business of building beyuls. ...or it could be Hurley's delusion. Hanso Corp. Building better people and polar bears through behavioral experimentation and magnetics since the 1970's.

So, if they're doing a storyline that's "it's all inside one person's head" this early? Then that's not the answer. Locke asks a good question - did you get caught on purpose? The count down is meaningless! Ha! Well, assuming he's telling the truth. But you can test it, Locke! Just let the countdown run out. Um. My "in real life" sentences would have been more like "in real life, mysterious islands with polar bears and hatches and deadly numbers and feral Others don't exist". She used the right test - that things are happening he doesn't know. Stories of all the people and things they do when he's not there, etc. Of course, he could be hiding that from himself. See - you can never know for sure, dude!! Aha!! She did know him!! Or else, it's even more like "Normal Again" where we're supposed to wonder what story is real. AAGGGHHHH!!! My brain, she is boggled. ;D And I'm loving it.

k, I loved this episode!
Hurley is, well, Dude!!
I loved his response when it was suggested that he ration out the food again!
Kicking Sawyers ass! That was months of pent up frustration from all the jabs Sawyer made about his weight! I loved it, and more so I loved loved loved everyones expressions as it happened. Sun's look of shock, Jin laughing, then Sun telling him to break it up, and oh her look when Hurley landed on Jin was absolutely priceless!!
I know Wendy mentioned to me about 3 months ago that she thought Libby was a patient at the Hospital with Hurley, so props to her! (I thought she was a doctor there).
If it was a plane that dropped the food, it would have had to fly really really high in order for no one to see or hear it, and with a parachute flying really high just would not have worked. Too much chance of missing the Island and having the food land in the water. So how did the drop happen?
Hurley gets a woman!! good for him!! I think Libby is so adorable! I frankly dont care if she was a little crazy. Unless she was dangerous, but then she would not have been let out of the Hospital. I cant wait to see where they go with that storyline (we will probably find out the answer in year 4.)
Oh and next week they want to trade for Walt! I am just happy to see that story line progress any at all! I still want to know where Michael is, or Desmond for that matter!
Did anyone catch that Dave said "See you in another life" to Hurley. That is the third time I have heard that very line! twice from Desmond, and now once from Dave! connection there? I hate to say it but it brings me back to the purgatory theory! (I hope this isnt the case, because I loathe that theory) But why have that line said 3 times?

I dunno. Doesn't look to me like Henry-not-Henry is a good guy. I mean...why play the "how many different ways can I think to lie about this" game? He's not even GOOD at it.

Hurley stomping Sawyer puts a big silly grin on everyone's face. Best. Fight. Scene. Ever! Sawyer trying to get out from under the tarp, and getting pulled back in by the invisible Hurley...the huge grin on Jin's face. Jin...Jin has a gorgeous smile...um... What were we talking about?

I can't believe there are only three pages of posts! This episode rocked so hard!
I wasn't sure about Libby initially, but my current gut instinct - which might be more hopeful than dispassionate - is positive. Whatever her reasons for not revealing their shared past, they don't involve harmful intent toward Hurley. I think she's there to help him.
Why? Who's to know? Perhaps Leonard and Libby have some sort of connection; in a moment of lucidity, he may have asked her to "watch over" him. Lord only knows why, but I'd guess it's to do with the numbers. Perhaps falling for Hurley was an unintended development that occurred over time.
Either way, her caring saved his life. That doesn't scream "evil Other" to me.
As to the "Normal Again"/"St. Elsewhere" finale speculations (regarding Hurley OR Libby), I reject that notion as strongly as I did during Buffy's run. There's been too much establishment of other characters with their own individual experiences.
Oh, and for the record...I sorta warned Sawyer about relentlessly mocking Hurley on this very board a week ago (well...ok, I mentioned that the weekly fat jokes were getting old for me personally...but hey, that's pretty close!). A sensitive person can only take so much abuse before exploding. Unfortunately, it's very possible Hurley has just made a dangerous enemy; Sawyer was humiliated on a level waaay beyond anything Jack could've done. There's no way he's letting that go unanswered. Of course, Sawyer could just be scared of him now, which would be pretty amusing.
Stump Speech Time:
Obviously "Lost" is a show with a large ensemble, making it impossible for everyone to have the same single favorite character...but I've yet to find anyone who doesn't list Hurley in their top 3 or 4.
I can't imagine one person in the viewing audience who wouldn't have tried to comfort Hurley as he stood on the edge of that cliff. That's the magic of the character; Hurley brings out the best part of ourselves. It's an extraordinary effect that writers and producers can only dream about. No matter how well something is written or directed, though, only the actors can make the audience FEEL things so strongly.
Based on that, my fondest Emmy wish involves Jorge Garcia getting the recognition he deserves.

Perhaps falling for Hurley was an unintended development that occurred over time. Since we see that Libby was a mental patient in the hospital with Hurley, I like the "she had a crush on him in the hospital and while still mentally ill, followed him/stalked him to Australia" theory. Now, the island has cured her of her mental disease, but she still has a thing for Hurley, but now it's not about stalking, it's about loving. She's not evil, I don't think. But she has been hiding something from Hurley. Right there with you, scooter!! I think it will be the latter. I think Hurley has probably gained a measure of respect from Sawyer, rather than gained an enemy. Sawyer acted clueless with Kate, but he knows full well why Hurley attacked him. He's constantly making fun of Hurley, and he did it again, and Hurley had just HAD IT. Sawyer's not going to admit that to Kate, but he knows it. I hope you are right, but . . . the Emmies tend to be so . . . stuffy and traditional. They never recognized Joss & Co, and I don't know if they will recognize Jorge.
